We know next to nothing about the red Templars (other than their apparent link to red lyrium and it's affects on the body). I would like them to be something more than a Templar version of DA2's blood mages (or just a mindless horde faction). I'm sure bioware is going to give then more depth than that, and I'd like it to be possible to revert them back to normal. After an experience, I'm sure afterwards they would be a voice for moderation, having been partially crystallized and subject to the mind-breaking affects of red lyrium.

I hope so, but I doubt it. I think BW is going the mindless crazy people route for this faction at least.

At the moment, based on the PAX demo, their intentions hardly seem benign at the moment. I can hardly see why attacking an innocent village is justified.

Mage abominations are still intelligent, just that the demon takes control over the mage's body and he's the smart guy.

When it comes to red templars, I think that they slowely lose their sanity and become more and more beast like, depending on their red lyrium usage.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but as I see it,  the red templars become , after a certain moment, insane and ultimately more like a beast than a man.

I would definitely like some depth to this antagonist faction. ME2 had too much of this, fighting the various merc factions every time we turned around, and DA2 had it's share of bad guys who had nothing going except just to be bad guys. Even the darkspawn had some depth, with the taint and all. They were mindless enemies, but for a reason no matter how shallow that reason was (I've heard people criticize the darkspawn for being too generic on these forums, and to some extent I agree, but it's not too bad, in my opinion)

A redemption arc for the red Templars, while it would be an interesting addition if done well, isn't necessary for me, but at least give them some depth to them besides "zomg, crazy!"

Considering what they did with Cerberus & Meredith I'm currently doubtful that the Red Templars will be anything more than mindless and pathetic..Hopefully I'm wrong

Well it would appear the Red Templars are going to be the enemy Templar faction no matter what, just like it would seem that mage cult from Tevinter will be the enemy mage faction no matter what.
This of course leaves the actual Templars and every other mage to be reasonable, and actually be factions you can ally with.

Or exterminate. Don't forget that. A good part of the BSN would be dissapointed if they couldn't eliminate the templars or the mages, depending on their righteous beliefs.

We havn't been able to exterminate either Templars or mages yet. I have no reason to believe that BioWare will buckle to the vocal violent minority. Honestly I wish for BioWare to do exactly the opposite of what this minority wants at all times.

 It was a joke

I doubt that we'll be able to kill ALL the templars or mages.

I know it was a joke. I didn't joke though. I really wish that the cancer, that are the vocal minorities, would disappear, or at least get off their high horses.

You presume Meredith at least was lucid while under the influence of the red lyrium for a while. N o indication she had it until the end. So it's possible red templars copuld plan attacks and missions and when a leader went insane someone else took over as leader.

What, about four years by that point, at least, right?  Assuming three years between the acts and accounting for the time between Bartrand's admitting of the sale and the very end when Meredith as the buyer is revealed?

Pretty much. She had it for quite some time.

I really hope they're more in the "Lord Seeker Lambert" kind of crazy - people with goals, and intricate plans to execute those goals. Not just pillage and rape everything they see.
