How many Hugo award winning novels have you read?

The Hugo awards are a yearly honour bestowed on a scifi/fantasy novel of merit.  It's been running since 1946.
I've only read 6 of them, and the person who had read the most amongst friends/family and work colleagues is my boss, who'd read 24 of them.

I have some holidays over our lovely hot Oz summer and have decided that I am going to start increasing that number (starting with 'The Demolished man' - I've had two conflicting opinions on that story in particular so now I can't leave it off my list, because curiosity!) It's likely going to take a while to cover the full list, but a worthy challenge.

How many have you read?  Did you have a favourite?  Is your favourite scifi/fantasy novel not on this list?

Two.

Have heard about a good number of those listed, but only really read Starship Troopers and Dune.

Am about to start Ender's Game though, in preparation to the movie.

Just one, and it was harry potter. I may have to turn in my nerd badge.

I've read one of the later books of rama, but never the original. Got into that series due to the video game adaptation many years ago. I'll admit I wasn't a huge reader during my high-school-and-beyond years besides what we were required to read up on.

5.
I may have more to read now. Give me a year and will have tripled at least.

Didn't even know about the Hugo award.

In my defence, I was never a big reader.

Still am not much big on reading, ASoIaF is pretty much an exception and prolly amounts to half of all which I've read voluntarily (I can count the novels I've read on my own decision with just my two hands ...).

I in fact read so very little that I was genuinely surprised when people told me I was an incredible well-read guy ... guess all those wikiwalks and encyclopedias count too.

Can heartily recommend the Dune series though. Very rich and enjoyable read. Starship Troopers is neat too, but I doubt anyone who's seen the movie (and who hasn't?) could read the novel without having the hammy tone of the movie swirling around in his/her head all the time, which kind of detracts from the nuances the book makes and its social commentaries.

Nine. Out of those I read Farenheit 451 was my favorite. My college English professor a few years ago thought I would enjoy some of Ray Bradbury's work, and he was right.

On a side note, I've never seen Starship Troopers.

None... I read according to subject & author, not awards. That is more my criteria for gaming

Edit: I am dumb. I read Ender's game and Farenhiet 451
:innocent:

42. Interestingly, I've not read any of the latest nine. A couple there I've picked up and are in my library but I've not yet read. A few I haven't actually heard of before. May have to see if I can find them.

*edit* I find it hard to choose a favorite, as there are so many quality reads on that list. Downbelow Station, Dune, Gateway, and Cyteen are certainly up in the top though.

I'm leaning towards them because many of them are supposed 'classics', not really because they are award winners.  I want to expand my scifi reading - as I have really only read a small a handful of scifi/fantasy authors.

Wow!

I am curious about Heinlein and some of the earlier classics. There were definitely a few on the list I had never heard of before.

I think my favourite from the ones I've read is 'The Man in High Castle'.

I've read the original trilogy and loved it - but I haven't read the ones written as prequels and sequels (so not Foundation's edge).

Twelve, with Hyperion being my favourite of them.

Also, the lack of Revelation Space is disconcerting.

Just two. Dune was a bit hard for me to understand, so I shelved it until my English gets better.

I'm guessing that maybe he's not as prolific as some of the other authors on the list.  But yes, he built a great future universe in that series.  'The Prefect' is still my all time favourite Scifi novel (the genre crossover with detective fiction worked very well for me.)

I wouldn't call

[whether or not one's read three dozen sci-fi novels by as many different authors]

the criteria for a reader.

I'm a big Asimov, Wells, Verne, and Pratchett fan (among others--that's mostly sci-fi/fantasy). But I've not read any of those.

Ender's Game was on that  list? I need to click on that link again ( yep, apparently it was, how did I miss that ). I guess I can bump up my score to 3. I feel a lot more proud of myself than I did when I made my last post.

I've only finished two of those, Ender's Game and Harry Potter (And I'm rather shocked the latter was even on the list, must have been a slow year)

I've started but never finished a few others. I got about halfway through The Forever War before I put it down because it depressed the hell out of me.

Four. Fahrenheit 451, Harry Potter, Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. Of those, I'd say Speaker for the Dead was my favorite.

Twenty. Got a ways to go to catch Eurypterid.

Favorite? Depends on my mood. Today, I'll say Hyperion. (Blatantly ripped off in Mass Effect, incidentally)

Out of that list? I've read about 21 of those novels - Fahrenheit 451 is certainly up there on my list of personal favorites.
