Hello to all who work at Bioware! This is a request for knowledge, not a formal application.

My name is Matthew and I will be going to college next year. My career dream is to work for Bioware. The only problem I am having making sure I major in the right degree. My interest lies somewhere within computer engineering, so what I really want to know is what is a day like for all your engineers and if they do different jobs, in what way are they different?

I am 22 and will be attending college next fall. I am currently in the U.S. Military and am about to transition out in the next few months. The purpose of this request is for me to earn the correct degree in the right job field and in something I would enjoy at the same as well as to reach my ultimate end goal of working for Bioware years down the road from now. I am a little lost in sauce if you will and will unequivically appreciate your acceptance of this request.

If email is at all possible, my personal is matthew.c.bigley@live.com.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you Abraham_uk and I know about Bioware's real site such as that. Through a few links though on that site I have looked into in the past, There's only so much I can understand of a job description on black and white.

simfamSP, I took a look at the tumblr site and found no such luck. I also do not use tumblr myself so maybe I missed it?

As of now, I am currently searching through these forum threads for some possible insight.

To be clear, I want to be able to actually talk to one of Bioware's engineer and get more of a "what's a normal day at work like for you" kind of answer and what degree from school that person received. For some reason, when I talk to representatives at colleges, I can't get the answers I want. I also do not know anyone in a similar job field to be be able to ask these questions to.

There's no right answer here, Biggs44. Nothing that anyone can tell you will get you a specific job at BioWare, specifically.

BioWare is no different from any other game developer, really, and game developers are no different than any tech job. You need to get the education and develop the skills necessary to get a particular job in any company. Don't put all your eggs in the BioWare basket. Not everyone gets into BioWare on the first try, since they are necessarily looking for particular skills and experiences.

Check out the articles on Sloperama.com and do a lot more research on this career path. Only once you know what job you want can you ask better questions and make an informed decision based on the answers.

There is no shortcut and no magic path to working at BioWare. If you want to be a programmer, get a degree in a field that teaches programming. If you want to design games, study writing, game design, game theory, all kinds of things. If you want to be an artist, study art. If you haven't even decided on that yet, no "what's a normal workday like" response will help.
