One of the models I'm thinking of adding is a walk-in fireplace of the style found in the kitchens and great halls of some medieval castles. It would be about as wide as a single tile, with possibly a few accessories and a niche or two, and probably use a castle wall tileset texture for the sides. Has somebody already built a model like this? No point in being redundant...

I think there are some nice fireplaces in the witchers placeables, but not that size, if I remember well. It would be a useful model.

Yes, there are a lot of big ones in there, some in that general style, but not that big.

I want to live wherever that was taken.

A high priority for a Dwarf Hold is, of course, the brewery...

Image IPB

This week's efforts:
  • Large raised vat with mixing platform (left)
  • Large metal pitcher (on platform)
  • Keg cart for delivering ale to thirsty miners (lower center and right)
  • Hand cart for transporting various goods (upper center)

Really nice. Do you have closer screenshots ? It's difficult to see the carts...

Yes, I just used a pre-built brewery area I had as the set.

How's this?

Image IPB

The shadows look a little squirrely in this shot, but the rest arms are touching the ground. Several of the model psrts are borrowed from other NWN2; the keg models, for example. I did some reshaping of a scaled down wagon and applied a different texture. The cart forms were inspired by other models I found on the internet (which are rather more detailed and elaborate than my efforts shown here).

Image IPB

I'm not completely happy with the interior sides of the vat--the textures are lined up about as close as I could get them. I was thinking about add a rope from the plug to the vat rim, and maybe a stirring paddle.

Any suggestions?

Really nice models, it's a good idea to use parts of nwn2 models.
The texturing of the vat seems ok for me. Anyway, I think a lot of modders will be tempted to fill this with beer or wine...^_^

Here's my model of a bridge castle. This type of bridge was used during the middle ages to secure a river crossing... and to collect tolls. The eyes of the Dwarf King positively gleamed at the idea.

Image IPB

This view from the opposite bank is somewhat shadowed, but I've hilighted the side door:

I realized after posting this that the arrow slits are a little too large, so I've narrowed the black interior a bit so they look more realistic.

That's a realy nice model you have built there.

Is the tower/gate part of the bridge or is this two separate models?

that could be scaled up for an impressive point of interest =)

But it looks fairly big as is...

It's all built as one model because of the walk mesh, but I used three different texture files.

I'm not sure you'd want to scale it up too much because it already spans a fairly wide river.

Yup. I sized it for the interior/double-door porticullis. For some reason the toolset is not loading the door automatically when I place the model, even though I have that set as the default door. Not sure why yet.

There's a few NWN hakpacks that might be worthwhile at least partly porting over for this theme:
I also wanted to try the following for underground waterwheels, but I can't seem to get the windmill animations working for different models.

This week's somewhat gory selection is a set of models ported from NWN: five surgical tools, two tintable mops for cleaning up afterward, and a folding stretcher for hauling in the next vict..., er, patient. Just the stuff for a dwarven battlefield hospital. The only changes were some selective retexturing and minor refinements of the meshes.

Image IPB

For some reason the shadow doesn't work quite right on the stretcher--it might be related to the fabric section because I tucked in the sides for a more authentic look. The set could probably also use some foreceps.

For the chalice you could reskin the cup. Dannj's handheld vfx pack has a cup. For the tracks, we already have mine tracks in the official stuff, so I'd suggest things we don't have.

Jeebus that's nice stuff. And here I thought I'd be done with assets with PJ's megapackfromhell... but I could use half that stuff in what I"md oing, easily.

Okay, I was wavering on those anyway so I'll skip them.

There's a boat-load of other NWN models. :)

Bring on the boats I say.

Is there a tutorial for porting across models? Is it a Gmax job?

It can be a Gmax job. I have a Gmax importer for NWN1 models as well as for NWN2 models. Don't know if there's a tutorial, though.
