inorganic level design. It all feels synthetic what with all the invisible walls and camera clipping. It looks like they really fixed that in DAI.

I also don't want the over done skill tree's and redundant skills/spells. Its already confusing enough to set the tactics of each party member, no need to make building a character so complicated. Choosing skills was hard, choosing attribute allocation was hard, choosing tactics was hard, and choosing party members was hard. Lets have somethings simplified that need to be simplified and lets have whatever is fun, complicated.

Annoying visual effects for sustained abilities. Had to get rid of em with mods they irritated me so much.

So much this. Cutscenes and conversations where ruined in DAO because of this crap.

(excluding stuff that was in DA2 too)

Magic potion spam
Gift spam.

The Warden, but not because I dislike them.

Friendly fire Is pretty much the one thing I hate from both games, to the point that I outright refuse to play on nightmare despite Hard being mostly to easy.

Ugly mage gear (clothing/armor, headwear).

Wade and Herren.

Flag glitches that screw up your romances. :o

Otherwise, it's all good. :wizard:

The best armor piece had a one-sided pauldron and was silver colored. Forgot the name.

Based on DA:I demo at PAX, you might be out of luck on this one buddy.

The spell effects carrying over into cutscenes is really the only thing that annoyed me. The one where you were transparent funny sometimes though.

the memory glitch which made game loading screen take 5 times longer when you played more then 30 minutes.

Horny pervert characters which are willing to mate with golems, rabits and ogren.

Wading through molasses in fights.

No sense of urgency during quests.

Party members at camp doing...nothing? If I were the Warden I'd have likely taken everyone I could everywhere.

Linear ability trees (as well as useless skill trees).

Probably more I can't be bothered to think of.

Overwhelm.

It was already bad in DAO, what with the spiders and the werewolves. But then it took on a whole new level of awful in Awakening with the Children. *shudders*

^This.  Its not like it did huge amounts of damage but EVERY goddamn spider/childer had this ability.  I have bad memories of being chain overwealmed around 6 times in succession in DA:A more than once. You would think abilities like Indomitable and high physical resistance would have defended against it? Nope, prepare to watch your character rolling around on the floor getting chewed up over and over again.  Fun times.....

Overwhelm

spell-induced crashes - I thought I was the only one who experienced this lol

enemy archers who spam Scattershot - OMFG THIS!!!!!! Lost count of the number of times my mage got killed just cause i was chain stunned over and over again and had zero resistance against it.  And the fact it still hits you even if your stealthed was lame too.

spending days in one area (Deep Roads)

having to manually match colors on your armor (something like SWTOR's Unify Colors could work)

friendly fire in magic

Other than that, well, there is A LOT that I hope never returns from DA 2.  Unlike DA 2, Dragon Age: Origins was an awesome masterpiece.

Those awful mage hats.

The lack of a helmet toggle, no 'move your individual party members' option on the console versions, one-minute poison durations, an ineffectual skill system, cruddy genlocks.

I cannot agree with you more.

The slow ass combat. Kill it with fire. And I agree with whoever mentioned the gift thing, I liked DA2's approach much better.

I'm just hoping for a wholesale overhaul of the leveling system. Why is it all xp gets dumped in the same bucket? Does killing a bunch of mooks really make me more persuasive or a better lock pick or better at crafting.

Having more things to do in the game than talk and fight would contribute greatly to a more diverse leveling system. Wanna make better potions? Work at the apothecary. Wanna get better at combat? Fight in a tournament. Wanna get better at persuasion? Play diamondback. Need to improve your stealth? Pickpocket.

Of course hacking away at the inquisitors enemies could still be used to attain higher levels in these and other categories, along with acquiring new talents, but activities like these could be a means to add permanent bonuses to the associated talents and abilities.

Fable II and Borderlands 1 & 2 are good points of reference. Fable II for the various activities available to the player ( amongst many other rather outstanding features in this underappreciated title) and the Borderlands series for the comprehensive means of distributing XP.

Ugly mage clothes and armor
Companions doing nothing while I'm out fighting.
The Fade & Deep Roads. Two of the most tedious quests in the game and probably a reason why I don't even think I could play DAO again.

Cute Leading man in the promo materials yet ugly or nonexistent in the actual game.
Friendly fire.
Wave attacks and being totally out numbered so I'm stuck in one tedious battle after the next. You would think the Warden and Hawke would be smart enough to ask the whole team to come along with how many times they get out numbered in a fight.

Not being able to get rid of companions (DA2)
Slow combat.
