Barking dogs at camp... what did you say again????
Ok I rarely post on threads, but I had to login just to say AMEN! My boyfriend would come in from the other room and say "where is that G*D* barking coming from??" and I would sheepishly turn down the volume on the T.V.
Oh, and Mage hats
Oh, and the party that walks so closely to you, that if you were to stop suddenly, all you'd see is 3 pairs of feet hanging out of your backside... it made looting on the fly so difficult and always resulted in a "something I can help you with?" conversation without the appropriate "Hello? Personal space?" reply

The awful mage hats
Boob plate armor
Armor that is lowcut or midriff-baring only on females
Effects visuals that persist outside of combat
Overwhelm. I wouldn't mind it if there was some build or equipment that could make characters invulnerable or at least resistant to it.
Gender checks for romantic interests
A lot of the other things other people mentioned, I had no issue with, and some of them are things I love about the game.

"Overwhelm."
Nothing compared to the ninjas in DA2.
I don't see this as being a DAO issue.
shrugs.
DAO needed some things added. Not too much that wasn't good.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head right now would be this: I don't want to see incredibly long, mandatory sections of pure dungeon-crawling/combat à la the Deep Roads; that was easily my least favorite part of DA:O.
Heh, its funny but this is a big factor.
When I learned about DAI I had to go back and place DAO and DA2 again... well I started a new game cruised along for a couple days enjoying ever bit of it then hit the deep roads. Havn't continued on in like 3-4 months because just not terribly interested. Although I know I will be again once I pass that.

DA armour isn't skimpy at all, go boot up Tera, you'll probably have a heart attack.
One google search later, yeah, okay, that's definetly setting the standard for skimpy.

Not fond of DA2's Ninjas, either - but this is supposed to be about things we don't like from DAO, and I have to dig pretty deep to come up with any, since I love the game.
There were several other people who mentioned Overwhelm in this thread. I also found it really frustrating to have my combatants rolling on the ground while childer after childer after childer spammed Overwhelm, especially since there was no way to avoid or overcome it.
YMMV.

But that's all that kept my mage character alive! Fighting Flemeth was a freaking nightmare.

I never had much trouble with overwhelm in general.. it only got frustrating when it was spammed over and over and over. Kind of like fighting a dragon on nightmare, they just spam attacks that knock back melee with no counter, so had to shoot the thing to death.
But overwhelm, you just know what does it and keep your freeze and knock back/down abilities up until someone is pounced.
I think the combat was very well balanced.. unlike DA2 with the bloody ninja's 2 shotting the tank.

Overwhelm wasn't any worse than the assasins. You could force them out of steal with AOEs, e.g. with a fireball, then CCC them to death. It was IMO harder to stun the overwhelm off.
And on nightmare, four enemies using overwhelm (like wolves early on) can get you to a party wipe pretty fast.

They could make different attack animations that would let the characters survive. Mind you, I'm not asking for a one-hit-kill dragon munching attack. I'm asking that the munching animation is removed completely.eluvianix wrote...

It's not that big of a deal, since I segregate completely the gameplay from the story in DA (both games so far would break my immersion otherwise), but it's still an animation I dislike.

To a degree you have a point, but I most times wouldn't have the chance to AOE, namely because wouldn't want the friendly fire since some ninja would pop out on wave 2 right in the middle of my party. The other thing that made DAO combat better.
So I would much rather see DAO comabt than DA2.

having a companion quest that is activated by random encounter. Velannas side question is where this sings true. I want to be able to get a perfect awakenings play through and this is the one thing stopping it.
Boob armor or over exposing armour. As much fun as it is to see a soldier with armor that covers her perfectly snugly all over its impractical.
Overwhelm for before mentioned obvious reasons. It's fricking overpowered
those are the big three. My last note on this is that I have spent the last few days trying to get Velannas personal quest to trigger and it will not activate. I hate this glitch.

I have absolutely never had a problem with a wave appearing in the middle of my party. Exactly like in DA:O. whenever an encounter triggers, I pull back to the closest chokepoint, or if a chokepoint isn't available, put my back to a wall and create a killzone.
There are also force mage attacks that don't cause damage that knock assassins out of stealth.

Yes, yes, yes! Ugh.

Also, the silent character. So awkward when everyone can talk but my character. Maybe he knows sign language?
