Literally. If it's not a street camera or a satellite than a government agency or your own family.

Do you care? If so, why?

I don't care. If it's not my job tracking me than it's my professional licensing bodies or even social media. Yet, there are people who object to this monitoring. Some to a greater extent than others. I want to know why. Do you value your privacy? Do you do things you know others would judge you for? Or do you enjoy knowing people are monitoring? Do you think it's help society as a whole? Do you think more monitoring is needed?

Tell me!

Paranoid rantings are welcomed, especially ones about ancient aliens. Political, not so much.

I do not care at all. I am a very boring person.

If I put something on the internet on social media, forums, etc. then I expect it to be read by anybody and everybody. It's in a public place, so I don't know why you would think otherwise.

I disagree with an organization like the NSA, but not because they're spying on me. If they really think that my Baldur's Gate character is a matter of national security, then by all means they can look in on that conversation(It's a Chaotic Neutral Dragon Disciple Elf, in case you were wondering). What I disagree with is anybody having that much power completely unchecked.

Ultimately at the end of the day, if I want something to be private then I keep it off the internet.

and if the aliens are watching, they can feel free to beam me up so I can get to work on my plans for building a real life working USS Enterprise(I also would accept the Normandy).

Why would I care?

Or more importantly, what would it changed if I cared or not? I am who I am, being watched by family or random stranger is inconsequential, it changes nothing.

I am already known throughout my friendship circles as that one guy who'll give a blunt opinion if asked, whether they'd would like what they hear or not. I for one am proud for that, as it meant people who don't have the stomach for honest answers stopped asking me superficial questions and those who do care for my opinion actually value them because they know I mean what I say.

I am also known as the unashamed guy who'll ask for a free extra portion of ice at the gelaterie, something my friends constantly ask me to stop because it's embarrassing for them.
I am also the only one out of my friends who gets those free extra portions (seriously ask politely and chances are you get what you ask for unless it's too outlandish).

So if I (as a guy I might emphasize) can ask for free ice portions, even when friends are telling me to stop it and then unabashedly mock them for their embarrassment when I walk away with a double portion, why would that make any more difference (read: any difference at all) if anyone else watches?

Keep 'em watching, it only makes it more entertaining to see other people's reaction when I go along with my antics.

I find it highly unlikely they are a cooking device.

Maybe we can ask the NSA if a cooking device is indeed involved. XD

Keeping one's affairs private is a privilege... to accept the fact that "big brother" will always be there and cannot be stopped is the mantra of the coward.

I assure you that a few powerful, (See: wealthy) financially secure people around the world see to it that they are NOT watched and constantly surveyed. They realize that this weakens them, gives their opponents/rivals info, which is power.

Also; this thread is doomed. There is almost no way to discuss privacy without mentioning the political bodies which are slowly chipping away at it.

It'll be good while it lasts Mybudgee. Hold the line! Plus we're talking about grilling and stripping decks. It's alright.

It depends on where the monitoring takes place.

In public places I'm all for it. At my workplace there are a lot of camera's which I do not mind either. For me they add to me feeling safe doing my job.

Why would it be a problem if one has nothing to hide?

As far as the internet goes, there really isn't anything you can do about it. It's out there for anybody to see.

Also, the political bodies chipping away at it are all of them. The thread only goes downhill once people start pointing all the blame at very specific political bodies(which I suspect will be happening at some point).

I don't care. But, stupid kids should be mindful about a "Big Brother" surveillance society.

I feel sorry for the blokes who have to watch me masturbate daily. I don't think I would be pleasant to look at sat down and **** up. Plus, the stuff I watch might not be for them. As long as I'm not 'punished' for it, I could care less. The moment they start saying "no, you can't watch your lesbian and hentai porn" or "no, you can't find out how security cameras work" and they start censoring the internet is when I start losing my ****.

Sure, spy on us if you're paranoid about nuclear weapons being hid in my dog's ****, but don't you dare start taking down websites because it offends your sense of morality.

If not, we're all going to go Hugo Weaving on your arse, learn to speak the King's English perfectly and fight like a ninja. Because V for Vendetta is awesome.

Just admit you're one of those agency spooks trying to coalescend secrets out of us using reverse psychology.

You've been caught already.
