And, please, Seifer006, do not use my PM to send ads to me. If you want to talk, I am okay, but if you want to use my MP as a junk with ads, that is not a thing I'll accept.
Thank you.

The four Origin games that I have purchased have been Battlefield 3 (only full priced game I have bought on Origin and I learned my lesson. Never again.), ME3 ($15 sale), Dragon Age 2 ($5 sale), and Battlefield 4 ($20 Black Friday sale). Half of those games were purchased through Amazon, so EA got even less money from me.
If it's about profits, EA would be making way more money off me if they sold their games on Steam.

No real comparison. Steam blows away Origin in every aspect. I wish EA would sell their games through Steam.
Yeah I do too

I would be significantly more likely to purchase an EA game if it were on Steam. As it is, I'll pretty much only buy an Origin game if it's Origin exclusive (i.e. forced to use Origin) and it's on a massive sale.
yeah I was forced to use origin when ME3 was exclusive to it. LOL...man ME1 & ME2 were on Steam and then Bioware made us to use origin to finish the trilogy........yeah Bioware that's great PR for the fans

My experience has been that the one area that Origin beats Steam is if you lose internet connection. Origin automatically kicks into offline mode without interrupting your game. Steam, not so much.
Origin has worked fine for me with no real complaints on my end other than the abysmal storefront (but I don't buy games through Origin anyway) and EA's refusal to be competitive with their sale pricing. I've activated a few of my previously-purchased-elsewhere games on Origin and it's worked very well.
I don't care about Steam's features such as cheevos, social connectivity, etc. I just use it to play games (and I don't play multiplayer). But yeah, overall if you use Steam's other features, Steam is the 'better' DRM platform.

But it is all about that in the end. I'd assume they came up with it to cut out the middleman and eventually "grow larger than steam" itself. However, how many years has it been since it released? What has changed? I haven't noticed anything and I have used Origin myself, except for the higher download speeds, but really does that sort of change need to be brought up for them to change it. Absolutely not, they're running a digital sales platform it'd be kind of ridiculous if they didn't have good servers, which they didn't at first.
Besides take a look at this, things don't seem to be going so well on the digital front for EA, at least on consoles it isn't. I'd assume that it isn't going all that well on PC, with their once or twice a year sales, no way they'll ever beat Steam like that. I mean really, why would you buy from Origin unless you're looking for an EA game. I think most people probably only stick to Battlefield, BioWare games, and the Sims. Extremely limited in my opinion, since you still have the option to buy everything else from Steam even those games that require UPlay.

Hey, at least Origin has customer support. By the way, Ubisoft also has Uplay.
Does Uplay actually work by now or is it still the same shambling mess of code?

Aside from ME3, I already owned all my Origin games before installing it. EA's library is too small to compete with the likes of Steam or Amazon, and their prices are obscene.

So far it's functional while playing the AC games.

That said, Origin(and EA in general) has quite a ways to go before it gets to where it needs to be. Origin needs more games and more sales on it, and EA needs to spend some time working to improve its reputation among the more hardcore gaming crowd.
While it is rather lame that they forced Origin on us, Valve is no better in this regards. They not only force Steam on your for all their games now, they give other developers the option to force Steam on you as well.

Not exactly true. I've bought plenty of expansions/DLC from Amazon or GreenManGaming, but they give me a Steam key. Almost every site now gives Steam keys if the game is on Steam.wolfsite wrote...
Steam's DLC policies are also a joke. If you buy a game using Steam you can only buy the DLC on Steam so if another service has a sale you can't take advantage of it. This means more profits for Valve for merely forcing more restrictions on the consumer.

This is why I like Origin, actually.Seagloom wrote...
I prefer Steam for its features. Origins is painfully bare bones. It plays games and that's about it. Steam feels like a community as much as a gaming platform.
I hate it when software developers waste time adding social media aspects to their products. Just give me your product; I'll seek out a community if I want to.

I agree very much with this.Cyonan wrote...
It's good that Steam might have some proper competition for once.
I just know that a lot of ME fans who were with Bioware since KOTOR (and ME1) never had to be forced to use EA's Origin. And for to make that transition especially in the very last of the ME series......you can understand the hatred

I'm amazed about the lack of sales Origin has...

Very true. I'm not sure though if that's Steam fault or the Developers (or publishers) fault? Because Gabe Newell isn't the type of person who "force" his products on consumers. If I remember correctly he came out about this on EA

Because all the big Steam sales get mirrored at Origin/Amazon.

There was reason to be upset about it, especially given the state of Origin at times. I just find it amusing when people bash EA for forcing Origin while also praising Steam at the same time, which was forced on people as well.
As much as I like Valve(and Half-Life is my favourite game of all time) claiming such things just seems a tad hypocritical to me.
