I'm using a dialup connection and I keep getting this error message after I log in and ect and hit PLAY: Missing required custom talk table "cep_v1.tlk"
Can somebody help me out with this?
Getting this error message that is keeping me from joining a multiplayer game.

A tlk file affects the text you see -- and you're missing one for the CEP (community expansion pack). You'll need to download that specific file and put it in your tlk folder.

If you have the CEP downloaded and copied the files into your NWN/haks folder, the file you need may be in there. If so, simply move the file to your NWN/tlk folder. If you do not have a NWN/tlk folder, just make one.
If you still cannot find the file, please post which version of CEP you have downloaded, and I'm sure one of us with a faster connection can grab that version, pull just the .tlk file out of it, and make it available as a smaller download.
I remember what it's like downloading stuff on a dial-up connection. Did my first year of building my PW (before it went online) on dial-up...did all my big downloads while I slept.

I've never downloaded a CEP or a hak. I've played NWN for years but this is the first time I've tried to go multiplayer.

Well, good news, now you get to! But even many single player modules use CEP or haks.

If you're doing that, you might as well see if you can download Project Q version 1.6 while you're at it. It's another collection of custom content that includes a ton of stuff that is used by various modules and servers out there. Very good Quality stuff in there.Groove Widdit wrote...

And yes, over the years hundreds upon hundreds of megs worth of new content have been created for this awesome game (not to mention the hundreds upon hundreds of community-made adventures and servers over the years).
The haks needed to play on my PW alone add up to around 8 1/2 to 9 GB once they're decompressed (CEP + Project Q + my PW-specific haks). I'm kind of a custom content junkie, and there's still tons of great stuff out there I just haven't used yet.

I'm totally on board with you about what a fn awesome game this is. Maybe one of the best video games ever. I've got a few single-player mods I'm developing. I've always been more of a dm than a player when I played DD. I guess I'll have to go to the library to upload my mods when the time comes for that. It's too bad (almost a tragedy) about the Gamespy debacle. Don't these people understand about ART?
