I don't think Bioware will be doing another joke transgender character.

Serendipity and the ones from DA:O just scared me.

Also, people asked if she'll be a companion in DA:I. Mr. Gaider said that it would be too late to introduce her, but that he still has plans for Mae .

This, honestly. There was a lengthy thread on this very subject years back after MotA launched. After reading dev responses there I felt somewhat more hopeful they would be more conscientious about trans portrayals in the future.
Personally, I'd like to see a trans character with depth beyond their gender identity to the degree it's a small aspect of who they are; not a defining characteristic. Said character should definitely not be played for laughs. If they can pull that off, then great.
I don't have any problems with a person who chooses to be a prostitute; but given the stereotype surrounding trans women in particular, I'd really like to see them go in another direction. Moreso after going that route two games running.

That would make me very happy. I loved Maevaris. I also think I'm not the only one who was quite angry at the way Tallis reacted when she met Serendipity. You introduce a transgender character and then you use her only as bad comic relief? Come on Bioware, you can do much better.
Personally I would also like a transgender LI, but perhaps it's a bit soon for that.

I know they are out there and tend to keep themselves and their gender choices to themselves.
I would rather not have every other npc being transgendered and flaunting it in my face.

Right. I have nothing against sex workers, but it seems the majority of transgender people in media have that profession. Not to mention the 'it's a trap' bit in the game.

Of course that overdoing it would be a little too much. I'm not saying that you'll encounter this type of persons at every turn, just that the ideea of a transgendered person would not seem as unusual in the future. There were times when homosexual characters were rather unusual and uncommon in video games. Now things have changed. I think the same thing will happen with transgender individuals.
Of course it should be kept at realistic levels and ,as Seagloom pointed out, if they chose to introduce some transgendered persons they should portray them not only as Serendipity was, but also as Mae was portraied in the comics .

It's fine so long as it is a worthwhile character and has a decent story and input to the game.
I've got no problem with characters like Steve Cortez and Kaidan as they were interesting people and their character wasn't defined simply by being gay. But there needs to be some purpose to it, not just thrown in for the sake of it.
Also wished Cortez and Kaidan would get together and stop automatically assuming that my Shepard is gay xD

I agree with you, but there are already transgender or transvestite characters in the DA games. They are already done wrong.
Seredipity (unclear if she is transgender or transvestite) is an example where the writers or developers or whoever thought it was a good idea to put transgender and transvestite characters in the game as 'jokes'. I know many people did not find her character inherently humorous, and were a little disturbed to discover her as the butt of some poorly developed, middle-school-esque joke in MOTA. The punchline is "lol she's a guy," and we are supposed to react in horror, disgust, or chuckle [EDIT:] even if we don't want our Hawke to act that way. Our characters and Tallis think it's 'awkward' and 'funny' too. So Bioware is already putting them in the game and doing it poorly and immaturely.
Besides Maevaris who is in the comics, the only iconic interactions we have with characters who identify with a gender other than their birth gender are prostitues. They are either humorous (Serendipity) or are tools to show a sign of hedonism in the player character, such as in the Pearl when transvesite prostitutes pop up in the "surprise me" option. We have a plethora of examples of de-humanized transgendered or transvestite characters who are nothing but sex objects. So in the DA series transvestitism and transgenderism are "acceptable" as objectifying, dirty jokes. It's already pretty badly done. Why can't they at least make characters, like Maevaris, in the game who are not hypersexual nor ridiculed?
Somehow, it's a complicated, delicate, or difficult issue for game writers / developers to put well done transgendered or transvestite characters in their game, but they don't think twice before putting these groups in their games as objects of ridicule and sex. That's a disconnect and a sign of problematic thinking, at least to me.

They obviously need a transgender in their team to make a good transgender NPC,it's not a "must have" thing for the game for it to be good,it will be good without transgender NPCs,but adding them won't make the game bad either.

It's not a "request",it's a question,just read the first post,all i need is "yes"/"no" answer from the developers.KallianaTabris wrote...
Any requests for this will be seen as a request for fanservice. Anyone who has been around here long enough knows Gaider's attitude towards these kinds of requests. Still, it would be nice to see characters like Serendipity function as a meaningful character and not as the butt of a joke.
