Unlikely square enix probbaly plans to have FF 5 and 6 on the 3DS. I think 6 is already getting put on mobile.

This is just speculations on my part mainly due to FF3 and 4 being re-released on the DS and positively received.

Why? Genuine curiosity here because I have never heard someone say that about 8. I've heard it about 7, 10 and 13 but never 8.

Reasons I hated 8

- I didn't like the characters (personal opinion)
- Enemies leveled with the characters so you never got a sense that you were getting truly stronger
- Money was handed out as more of a stipend, and you could actually lose this if you spent too much time exploring (getting penalized for doing what comes natural) and you had to take tests to get it back up)
- Quick-time event summons
- Magic system was tedious as you had to hunt down certain monsters to draw the magic from them to store for later.
-  The card game was more fun than the main game.
- Female characters felt weak as they all seemed to swoon for a character that just dismissed them most of the time (Note: been a long time since I have played but this is true for the first disc)
- Too much focus on FMV movies (But that can be said for a lot of games in this era).

I'm waiting for 9 to come out so I can replay it, see if nostalgia is the only thing keeping it in my favorite spot.

Definitely going to get this at some point. I still have all of the disks from VII, so I'll pass on that. As for IX, one of my favorite games of all time, I bought that on PS store. Worth it.

I began RPG with Suikoden, then FF7. FF8 was such a disappointment. I hope they have plans for FF9.

really? Never heard that! What I heard was when Squaresoft dropped it's name and merged with SE because of the box-office failure of Square's Final Fantasy movie spirits within..........which what made the Enix merge

so yeah.....do some research and quite whining about FVIII. Game rocks! May not be as popular with FFVII, IX, X but it's FFXII, 13 that aren't doing justice with the series as it's now become

I just saw that FFVIII came on Steam. I put it on my wishlist.

It was the first Final Fantasy game I played and got me hooked on the franchise. I got VII when it came out for pc but as my preference is to play it with controller the use of it was not as fluid as for console. I hope that that is fixed for this game.

You can still. I use my PC Controller through Steam (actually it's my PS1 Controller) so it plays exactly like it did on the PS1.

Didn't even realize it was VIII this thread was about - Thought it was about VII which has been out for a while - Interesting, will look out for it when it goes on sale.

I used my pc controller to play it, but it seemed to be lacking in how the controls worked.
