I would get that if Jack were a soldier or a mercenary, but she's neither. Why should she have to conform to military style when she's not millitary.
I guess I could head-canon that her mask projects a mass effect field if she comes along for the reaper IFF mission.

It's funny if you romance her btw.. "You just want to peel me out of an Alliance uniform, don't you?"

I hate it when you express skepticism about her teaching abilities and all she says "you sound like I'm gonna make 'em explode or something"
Given jack's past I'd say its a real threat

It makes even less sense if you coaxed her into murdering Aresh.Steelcan wrote...

As part of the 1.5%, i feel like I must defend Kaidan. First of all, his powerset is just a defensive version of hers, just like James and Ashley are offensive and defensive versions of one another (Oh man, think if you could put them both on one team with a vanguard Shep...) Secondly, he tells you in the first game that his past is squared away, so that is pretty much out of the question. HOWEVER, I do think with some minor script/gameplay changes, his arc could really have grown. I just can't help but shake my head at the missed opportunity for him to have met either Jack or Miranda, or Heaven forbid, both at the same time while serving on the Normandy. I think he should have been the must have squaddie for Grissom (with Jack alive) with Ashley taking up Tuchanka (with Wrex dead so she can see what she wrought >.<)
I'm a big Kaidan fan and I'm very content with his character and with him as a squad mate. Kaidan is usually the one who offers more insight into a mission regardless of if any Shepard agrees with it or not. Whenever he's on my team I always use him and the guy just never goes down, I like Miranda and found her very useful in ME2 but she just doesn't have the same resilience as Kaidan in battle, not without plot armor keeping her afloat like during the SM. Not saying she goes down easy, cause she doesn't, but she ain't lasting compared to Kaidan.
When used right Kaidan will keep the heat off you so I can believe that his powerset is defense.
I also like the fact that his past is squared away. He's level headed and has his shyt together and isn't reliant on Shepard to save him from his personal life. As much as I like some of the ME2 squad mates, I found it tedious having to help them sort out their life before the SM. Mordin, I didn't mind because it was connected to the genophage. Grunt was reasonable as he just woke up from a tank. Tali, because it was sprung up on her at the last moment, Zaeed because he brings it to me right away as a condition of joining as well as Kasumi, and Leigon because it can gain my Shepard more intel about the Geth and also destroy a chunk of them. The rest can take their issues and suck it.
However, if the game needed more of an arc for Kaidan, I wouldn't mind finding out more about his biotics and his L2 implants. At the Citadel party he mentioned he could reave and Liara, Jacob or Miranda would all comment on how odd that was. I wonder if it has anything to do how tapping into the nervous system is unique to the Asari or something.

No different than Wolverine finally chillin a bit and helping kids at Xavier's school. Jack's past is killing lots of Cerberus, and jumping around, surviving in the Terminus. She's never aligned with anything but herself. Like a wild animal. She's just a survivor, like Zaeed.

You should have played Vanguard yourself anyway. You only have yourself to blame.KaiserShep wrote...

Has the Alliance heard of background checks?
I wouldn't be surprised if Anderson himself put her there. Since he knew Kahlee so well, and bent a lot of rules elsewhere. It doesn't really get into it. It just says "Alliance brass knew I worked with you and gave me this".

Given Jack's past I wonder who would hire her in the first place. Like what does her resume say?
Work History:
2184 - 2185: Served as 'dangerous b****' for known terroist organization Cerberus
2181 - 2184: High security prisoner aboard prison ship Purgatory
Education:
Tortured Biotic at Pragia University

I wouldn't say she is a 'terrorist' I would say she is affiliated with a known terrorist organization.

High security prisoner on Purgatory because Cerberus put a bounty on her and Kuril was holding her for them specifically. High security because other prisoners tried to rape her in the bathroom and she ripped their spines out.

So is Shepard and Garrus and Joker and Samara.
edit: The plots are stupid. Just go crazy and have fun. That's what I suggest.

Right, especially since the focus of the ascension project was to help the kids integrate with normal society.
