Yes, please. Hairstyle is one of the most important things when I'm creating my character, and I don't know how they managed to make the texture even worse in DA2 compared to DAO. It took me hours to get used to the sight of Aveline's hair, and no amount of time was sufficient to make the plastic facial hair bearable.

I really hope they add better hairstyles and improve the textures.

While we're at it, can we have a zero-makeup option for femquisitors that doesn't make them look like they're corpses with no eyelashes? Not 'unobtrusive eye shadow', not 'blush that pretends to not be there'. Just zero makeup and natural-looking eyes and face. Thanks.

Had to address the bolded.  Really?  Out of all the shady things that EAware has done over the years, you'd leave the franchise over a haircut?   I have to wonder about gamers sometimes.  That just sounds so silly. 


As fair as the rest of your post, I agree.  One of my favorite looks in DA2 is a recolor of Isabella's headscarf/hair, which is a pretty elegant "helm as hair" look.  I also would love some obscenely gaudy wigs as well, since Orlais is involved in the upcoming story.  With some beauty marks to go with it, naturally. 

Also, it would be nice to see some nice very long hair without a freakish amount of clipping. Finally, I'd like to mention that I'd love some different styles of braids.  Well, other than the double braided loops in the back.

Not claiming to be an expert or anything, but hair effects is very resource intensive to the system. Especially if there are 20+ characters on screen.

But since this is the Frostbite engine, it is likely that there will be new hair physics and all of that good stuff.

You know, I actually don't really care much about hair physics, I mean it's cool if its there but it's definitely not a must for me. It can be immobile if short or glued to the shoulders/back or something if long, all I want are styles that look good, are well modeled, and more varied.

Since when is there a problem with wanting different or better hairstyles than the "realistic" medieval hairstyles? It's an RPG, one where you can customize a character to how you want it to be. A few different hairstyles like those won't take up that much space, and could please the part of the fanbase that wants them. Hair mods sometimes have a few issues with the look of them anyway, so I can't blame someone for wanting one to be an official hairstyle.

Also, you might consider it stupid, but that's you. Not everyone has the same opinion on that.

Have you ever seen hair from the Renaissance/Baroque period? Or hell, have you ever seen what the nobles would sometimes wear in the middle ages? I'd say that a faux hawk, emo hair or curling iron vogue magazine haircuts are alot easier to achieve than something like this:



Granted, they are ideas, but the nobles had hairstyles that were really close to that.



Wouldn't surprise me if Orlais has these hairstyles as well, especially considering Leliana once said that one of the nobles had birds in her hair.

And it is questionable whether we will be able to mod the color of the hair with the Frostbite engine, let alone add more hairstyles. So, if Bioware doesn't intend to offer mod support, I expect them to provide a decent choice of hairstyles themselves.

Ugh, I don't want them to turn this into The Sims 3. Offering very few hairs in the base game and expansions, and the first option you get to see in character creation is a hair/piece of clothing you have to buy in the EA store.

Would if I could mod anything on my console, but that's not an option for everyone. Besides, is the gelled up faux hawke and emo hair more unrealistic for a "medieval" time period than the fluorescent make-up and perfectly sculpted eyebrows that already exist as options (even for people like the City Elf and Dwarf Commoner) in-game?

I think all hairstyles should be available to all genders and races (elf, human, etc.). I don't think anyone  has ever fired up a game and thought, Oh man, I'm glad they limited my options in the CC! This really increases immersion! I love not having options!



And regarding "emo" hairstyles and what-not... don't like them, don't use them. Dragon's Dogma has the option to have "unusual" colored hair. Players can use it if they want. There are no NPCs with pink or blue hair. But the player has the freedom to choose if s/he wants his/her main character to have pink or blue hair. Everybody wins!

Also, Thedas is not medieval Europe. It might draw a great deal of inspiration from it, but it is a fantasy world. The author of a fantasy world has unlimited freedom of creation (so long as it doesn't stretch the reader's/player's believability). If the author wants to suggest that hair gel has been invented, perhaps made from nug fat or something (lol), then voila, it is done.

Ugh, I don't want them to turn this into The Sims 3. Offering very few hairs in the base game and expansions, and the first option you get to see in character creation is a hair/piece of clothing you have to buy in the EA store. 

Yeah, that's a good point... but it would be better than no options at all 

(Even the hair in the EA store often sucks. I've had to mostly use mods in TS3.)

That's a good point. More options are widely regarded as a good thing, no? Besides, I once knew the whitest guy ever who naturally has a very impressive afro. Who's to say he's  the only one who would've would enjoyed more hair options?
