I am trying to fix an annoying effect in the d20 Modern Mod whereby all the projectile weapons make a simply horrific noise when they hit anything. I traced it to a universal sound attached to elemental projectiles. However, I cannot for the life of me discover the sound in the game files.
Now, I noticed that the Community Patch 1.70 Notes say that an "annoying sound" on elemental damage has been removed by the patch. So I am thinking it is the same thing. However, I cannot work out how Patch 1.70 got rid of said annoying noise - and of course, since I am working with d20 Modern, I cannot just "install" Patch 1.70 since I imagine the d20 Modern files will probably override it in the opposite direction.
For the record you can listen to the awful noise here: https://soundcloud.c...alrealist/weird
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
VS

The fix for this is in damagehitvisual.2da file, so if d20 modern modified this file you are correct and it doesn't get fixed in your module, if not however it will.
Important is that a RangedEffectID is set to -1 instead of ****.

I got a question on a news feed of how did i figure this out, since I assume Rolo already lost my post from news feed I respond here.
It has a history, I tracked this down by sound file name, I found out its a "sdr_blur". And my first attempt to fix this was replace this file with a null file. Then I found out that it might interfere with visual effect and that first visual effect with ID 0 has this sound, then I got an idea that it maybe behave in way that **** = 0 and then it plays a siund of a 0 visual effect, so I tried -1 and it worked. Thats it.
I should however say that this fix is suprisingly server-side, if playing on a server without CP you can still hear this even if you have a CP.
