Don't they eat the flesh of the vanquished?

Yes, but DG says that's to terrify their enemies, not because of biological need.

Are you serious? You mean the whole munching on the idiot Cailan's Army was just psychological warfare? Was there even anyone alive to witness the Darkspawn getting their snack on besides the witch? Why BW, why?

I'm just saying, if the whole agenda is "anti-human", you're as likely to be anti-elven.

Apparently. It might just be a directive from the archdemon or something. The darkspawn aren't big on thinking.

Yes, according to DG. The taint "sustains" the darkspawn. They don't need to eat and their magic comes from it (despite limitations in DA:O, darkspawn are lore-wise supposed to use an entirely separate kind of magic from what mages use, hence what Avernus is researching).

IMO, because the whole point of going to the Golden City for Tevinter was immortality, the Taint in a sense is exactly what Tevinter wanted. And seeing how the Magisters who ended up there are immortal (or at least ageless)... it's not quite fair to say that they didn't get what they wanted. Just ... in a monkey's paw sort of way.

Was immortality their stated goal? Hearing Corypheus talk, it sounded like he was following his gods' commands more than seeking eternal power or life.

I haven't played DA:O for a while, but at least in that game, the apparent (alleged) goal of the Magisters was immortality.

A desire demon could work, as long as you actually get into the nature of desire and how it can also lead to positive results, not just make the desire demon into a sex toy / love interest (Although that could be an interesting conflict if you have to save her are you saving her because you love her, or saving her because you desire her...)

I would love to have a desire demon as an LI because it would be funny and I would have her as a "side action" LI while I mainly romance a human/elf. O I love romance conflict!Image IPB

I think a demon companion should be handled as possession. Someone inside the player, that the player can talk to, that can take over the player in some situations and that grants extra abilities,

Why would a taint monster be first though of as Cuddlesworth?

No, they didn't. Inside the player I said. You would be possessed. And the demon inside would be your companion.

What a fantastic idea, have your character be a schizophrenic with depersonalization disorder, I can see the appeal.....not.

Seriously, that would be an interesting thing to do. It would be a character who is trying to prove to everyone he is not crazy.

If you are a schizophrenic who has depersonalization disorder, who the hell would want you as leader of a paramilitary organization?

If you can get results, anyone let you lead. You can also hide it.
Added, it's not the case the pc is  schizophrenic. It's that they really have nother being living in their mind.

(It's also ironic that you are ageints this but support the Illusive man.)

Demons actually don't cause schizophrenia, they and all of their impacts are real, not hallucinations.
The depersonalization depends on your relatioship with the entity.
And obviously I wouldn't want to lead people that would have a problem with any of these things.

Gee a tactician who has another being in his mind; who can take over the mind of the tactician and order his army to rape and pillage a village instead of defending it from Red Templars.....what a good idea.

It's called Mass Effect 2 genius.

What an excellent idea, have Demons who either don't give a damn about mortals or who want to kill/absorb the life essence of mortals and have the leader of the paramilitary organization that's trying to mitigate the conflicts of Thedas become infected by one of them.

What could possibly go wrong?

Eh.. I don't think we need another possessed mage the bemoans his standing and laments at how they were treated earlier in life (IMO).

If we were to get a demon possessed anything I would prefer a Sylvan; it could be resized like Shale so their size wouldn't have to be an issue. Plus a Sylvan could provide a more nuanced approach to being a companion instead of the whole "fish out of water" troupe that our last spirit companion had (Justice). It has been in the mortal world for a sizable length of time, and would therefore be familiar with it.

That makes far more sense than the PC being infected.
