It just means you'll need to take a Mage with you everywhere now. Hopefully the healer isn't an insane ass like Anders.

Or healing potions will become more valuable.

The purpose of the exercise seems to be resource management.  Encouraging the player to pick their fights and plan ahead so you don't blow everything on the first bear you encounter.

It just sounds more tideous to me, being "get into one fight, oh crap better go all the way back to town to stock up since I'll die in the next fight due to having low potions" or "constantly have/be spirit healer."

Thats what I'm worried about as well

However since I plan on playing a mage who will probably have some sort of healing ability it shouldn't be too terrible....

Or camp and rest to heal.

That's where herbalism skill comes in. So you don't have to run anywhere for healing.

Nope sorry but if you haven't heard by now the herbalism skill is gone, we can't craft potions ourselves nor can we craft potions outside of our bases.

I do belive there is a survival skill, that lets you find safe areas for making camp etc.

I figured as much.  It's just going to be a hack&slasher game probably, with little out of combat activities.

It is being marketed as an action-rpg, I belive. At least they are being up-front about it this time.

Are you sure about that because they said something entirely different during their crafting and customization podcast from pax where the devs give an example about what to expect for example they talked about having low health and encountering a pack of wolves that we would normally be able to kill but given that you don't have any potions your only choice is to run away and try to get to one of your strongholds to heal.

I don't remember herbalism being in DA2 either, but I didn't play that game for very long.

Whatever happened to, "we're taking a serious look at Skyrim."? Apparently they didn't look at it for very long.

There's a difference between taking a serious look and basing the whole game on it.

Just saying, maybe instead of looking at other series and borrowing from that, they should go back to their roots, DA:O is still very popular, and correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think most people want TES in Thedas.

DAO was just akin to a run-of-the-mill medieval fantasy, so I'm not too sure what you mean about their roots- in terms of gameplay or open world, they went too restrictive with DA2 in terms of the world/environment, which is why I think they've gone in the other directions considering the collective response to DA2

Odds are it won't make things more difficult, you'll just have to jump a few hoops to get fully healed up.

yeap, spot on
health auto regen=sleep health regen =go back to camp to heal.
the only difference is that you sleep or go back to camp more often.

when did Injuries leave the game?

Only DA:O. It was taken out in their simplification process, because so many gamers are just lazy these days. Regenerating health just makes the game feel like an arcade, not an RPG. Unless we're talking about superheros with regenerative powers.

For the record, DA2, did, in fact, have injuries. I had to carry around injury kits for a reason.

No health regen is one thing that makes me happy about DAI.

If you don't want to waste your time, think there's no need for it or isn't good on combat, play on an easier difficulty. No one is forcing you to play on nightmare.

I never said I planned to play on nightmare, nor was it said the no health regeneration would only be on nightmare.:?

Game difficulty will be more customizable than in previous games. You will be able to move a bunch of sliders around. So you will likely be able to have something like health regen on the easiest setting and everything else set all the way to "To the Pain"

Pfft people who complain about no health regen should play old RPGs or the Persona series.

No, stop spreading false information or pay attention next time.  The herbalism skill is not gone; they said that they've introduced a brand new herbalism system but you can only take a limited amount of potions with you at a time; as many that you can fit on your belt.

If we can fast travel, it will only lead to running back and forth since nothing seems like it will be time-sensitive.

Other than that, being a mage will be a convenience.

Regenerating health is just downright silly - You've got potions and healers to solve that problem, which in itself adds strategy to the game as opposed to a free ticket to skip gameplay. It effectively resets the game between every fight. Nothing is carried over, it's just a sequence of unconnected and yet eerily similar battles. It thus also limits the game an opportunity to reward the player.

I'm not spreading false information, we can't craft anything ourselves we have people for that, we can't craft potions outside of specified areas like keeps and strongholds, there's a fixed amount of potions in the game that you can craft and buy.

Yes there's a alchemy crafting system, certain people will be able to make certain potions and they will varry from place to place, you can find recipes in the world and might be able to buy some.

Crafting and customization podcast

Edit
24 minutes in you can't craft anywhere's you want only in specific areas and limited potions in the game in general not just how many you can carry.

Wolves are howling and coming after you, normally you can punch them in the nose but you have 1 health left and you have no choice but to run away to your outposts to heal while they are chasing you because of your pink armour that smells of meat lol.

They mentioned fighting the archdemon and stoping to craft potions as something they don't want.
