Why is it people always whine about powerful builds. ( not being sarcastic genuinely want to know people's thoughts on this. )

I don't get it either. It'd be one thing if they all played platinum, but for the most part, people on BSN prefer gold. If you want to make the game harder, why not up the difficulty.

By telling people to "deal with it" you're dictating how someone else plays, just saying.

I'm a filthy tyrant in games I host and I don't care.

Ha, good point. Never saw that one coming back at me lol.
It's just that I don't care what others are using. And complaining on BSN is most certainly not going to change anything. Then again, I am a scrub who relies on crutches and cheese.

Because a lot of people here (myself included) find Platinum to be boring.

And I think part of the complaining comes from the fact that pugs rarely ever change their kit to match the rest of the lobby (e.g. playing a paladin in an all-biotic lobby)

If people are so reluctant to play with TGIs and AIUs, then they should play only with friends, or go into solo mode.
If people want to play with randoms, then they shouldn't complain. Sometimes even good players want to cheese their way through gold games.

I think you're missing the point... By them playing those crazy OP kits, they are dictating how MY game is going to go. They're basically telling me, "I'm gonna spam Flamer with a Geth Trooper, and every power you use is going to detonate my fire explosions and I'm going to melt all the thing."

Or "I'm gonna play the TGI. I'm going to suck up all the grenades so I can stand out in the open and lay waste to everything with my Harrier. Good luck finding enemies to kill. Ohh... And everytime you're killing a boss, I'm going to come in at the end, cloak and shoot it for half a second and kill it too. You might as well not even be here."

Although I see and somewhat agree with your point, I have never met any PUG who were that good. If you exclude a few players from here whom I met in pugdom.

Or boot them. It's very rare that I play this game without at least one other friend.

I like the terrible pugs... They actually need the credits/help, and they increase the extremely small odds of a mission fail.

How can you like terrible pugs?! I hate them so much. It's very rude of someone to leech and be completely and utterly useless on a difficulty they shouldn't be playing on. I always give them the same advice - either play on bronze, or play another game. In my experience, they increase the chance of mission failure from 95% to 99%, so I'm at a loss. It's always the same story with the same ending:

1) Useless pugs join platinum lobby.
2) Useless pugs ready up with no weapon mods, gear bonus or equipment.
3) Useless pugs bleed out on every wave.
4) Twenty to thirty minutes later, the pugs have a combined score of 30k, the mission fails on wave 7 or 8, rarely progressing to wave 10.

Now, lets consider a scenario where I'm playing with 3 decent players who are using TGI, AIU and geth trooper:

1) Pugs join lobby.
2) Pugs put on appropriate weapon mods and appropriate equipment.
3) Pugs kill things very fast and waves end in a couple of minutes.
4) Twenty minutes later, the game is over.
5) Profit$$$

So I just gained 150,000 credits and a ton of xp, I came in fourth place, but I sure as hell ain't complaining.

Can't say I don't agree with you Mega but at the same time people don't like it when the match is either taking too long or lose so there is that too, but I do understand what you mean. it's pretty lame just walking around the map hoping to run into something to kill.

I like to loose.

If you never loose then you're not up against good enough opposition Image IPB

Yea but maybe some people don't really care for a challenge they just want to win whatever that means to them or they don't care to get better at the game.

It is more rewarding to lead them to extraction and earn them the credits. Plus, it had a bit of a challenge, although on Gold it is debatable.

Those numbers should not be that high, especially the first one. If you can only claim a 5% success rate on Platinum pugs, then either don't pug it or don't play it, period.

you guys are missing that not everyone on the team is skilled/good at the game.

i use powerful builds when i have to compensate for 2 or 3 people that just cant hack it, i usually want to play something else.
but i dont want to spend an hour soloing the entire match all the time.

when the whole team is full of skilled/decent/good player then i play what i want, but that is an ultra rarity when you have randoms.
if i can pack my lobby with friends which is just as rare these days we will do silly stuff like level 1's on gold and platinum with just whatever we want.

so with the statement some of you are saying "you dictate how i play" well then, i say "randoms dictate how i play and what i use based on how bad i want to win or how hard i want to play."

because if you are not not doing good/decent then i have to compensate if i dont want to spend all day in 1 match with 50 teammate revives to my name and if i wanted to solo i would just go play solo.

so there is more to it than "you are a scrub using OP stuff."

btw fun is relative and what you find fun today could be boring tomorrow.

as always that is just my opinion.

I agree with this so much. Playing platinum with 3 other people who don't need me to complete the game is a breeze, while playing with 3 players who have to play together and combine efforts to be successful in a pug is so much more gratifying. I don't care if it takes longer, I enjoy the games more when I know I'm vital to the team's success.

Waaaaaaaay back, I refused to play with Human Vanguards, because of the one-two punch, of Vanguards dying in a crowd 5 seconds into the wave, and screenshake. It used to irritate the heck out of me. Then I got over that, and I haven't had an issue with any kit or power, since. That was over a year and a half ago.

I stopped caring what other people play. I don't get the complaining, either. I'm an average BSN Gold player, and it's exceptionally rare that I run into a Harrier TGI or a Flamer Trooper PuG who can even outscore me, let alone dictate how I play.

Then again, I don't really mind adapting to the randomness of PuGs. If I did mind, I wouldn't see the point in PuGing.

I very rarely see new/bad players who are willing to at least help in any way they can. All the new players I see have no interest in contributing or helping whatsoever. I'm always left wondering the exact same thing - surely they can't be having any fun at all playing the game like this. Going in with no equipment or weapon mods, going AFK and bleeding out every chance they get, failing all their games very early...that must be extremely boring, I really don't udnerstand why these people are playing the game. At least I help the team with objectives and use my missiles, that's the least I can do. So even if I could, I would never want to carry such leechers.

That picture is indeed grisly, but my experience differs quite a bit. I almost never had three leechers at once. And, as soon as there is one player who genuinely tries, I'll do all I can to have my team suceed. And I think people can enjoy the game way more when there is a good player committed to "carrying" them.

...and missile glitching never exsisted on consoles.

cheaters are going to cheat.

i dont know if missile glitching still exsist on console, because i dont care enough about it to find out.

so since missile glitching has exsisted before on console, then we should assume that is what every console player does right?

I guess it's because people don't like it when you do things the "easier way". I for one enjoy powerful builds a lot, who doesn't? I like to experiment on less efficient builds sometimes just for the heck of it (melee Quairan Female Engineer for the win) but I always come back to my tried and true powerful kits and builds.
