CSMG is probably better for Tech users, but Lancer is about as good for Biotics if you plan to run Warp Ammo. The only mod that CSMG has access to that is superior to the Lancer's would be SMG HVB and that is only because it has better armor piercing than AR Piercing, or it doesn't weigh as much as AR HVB... If you care about the weight you can just run Piercing w/ Warp Ammo and it isn't going to matter all that much, especially on characters that will be using the power Warp.

CSMG does have better accuracy, which is really the reason it competes with Lancer against mooks with the exception of Pyro, Bomber and Dragoon.

This isn't to say that Lancer is the greatest gun in the game or anything. It is above average.

No... Because they're in the same niche of unlimited ammo, lightweight, caster weapons... Often times complimentary weapons with the lolcolyte. They do the same job... Only the CSMG has a tighter spread, access to better mods, weighs less, has a bonus modifier against armor, and has less recoil. It objectively does a better job at the same task.

The Lancer does sound cool... Ill give it that... But that's about all its got going for it.

Some of us don't have a Collector smg, troll store and all.  So as good as the Csmg might be, it's really not relevant to the discussion.  Especially because it's not an AR.  I don't know if you noticed, but some chars get bonuses for AR's but not for smg's.

I might as well assert that my car is faster than yours, if we are going to cease with relevance and simply argue re: personal possessions

On Topic: Yeah, the Lancer isn't bad.  It's got more spread than I'd like but it's the anti-Harrier regarding ammo box humping.  The magazine mod is almost mandatory, meaning you choose a damage or armor-killing mod, but not both.  Doesn't do a ton of damage on it's own, but better than just about every other lvl. 1 AR, and at lvl. 1 it's still better than most of the lvl. 10 AR's.

I've only tried it on single player, it seemed pretty cool, but I was too overpowered to really feel the difference.

Who has bonuses to ARs besides the Ghost? Weight reduction in the passives (which is garbage) doesn't count.

If you have a reason why the Lancer is objectively better than the CSMG, I'd love to hear it. If you dont have it, well.. then you have nothing to say to me.

Love it as well. Use it on my Justicar all the time. Mine is only at level 3 and it does a decent job even in Platinum.

The only caster kit I know where the lancer is better than csmg is TSent, cuz sustaind fire. But then, there is practicle rifle which has a pinpoint accuracy, mad deeps and looks much more badass.

I wouldn't exactly call the Tsent a caster... You're not going to outright kill things with Warp/Overload or the measly tech burst between the two powers. The Human Sentinel is a caster.

Welp, can't disagree. But technically he is a caster. Still doesn't changes lancer issues. If the gun looked a bit more cool I would probably like it though.
