could be a social reason as well for some cultures, from what we've seen the men act like human men, so its possible in some of the race's, there society is more traditional, i could easily see this for the Drell for instance, and in turn the Women may live only on there home world, to raise the young and only leaving with there husbands.

Im telling you. Most of the races hide their women from Shepard. I mean just look at all the females he's subdued in a few years.

well that may be so, but i prefer to think of it logically, its quite possible that the womans revolution did not occur on every planet in the galaxy. It is vain to assume that alien women are like our own women, may not be sexist at all, its just ignorance.

It's interesting, that while most races predominantly feature male characters, the majority of the significant Quarian characters are women.

As for Turians, had always assumed that males and females looked and sounded similar to the untrained human eye. I mean, they're raptor-people. Not many humans can pick out a bird's gender at a glance. Plus, they have carapaces, which aren't known for showing off curves.

Was kind of disappointed that that wasn't canonical, actually. Would have liked to feel a bit more like the ignorant galactic newb that you occasionally get accused of being, and writing is cheaper and faster than meshing.

It's purely down to resources... it has NOTHING TO DO WITH PLOT ELEMENTS.

Games are expensive to make and the PS3/360 had barely any RAM at all. Why make two character models for the same species at all? We have the rest of the game to make too guys.

Because Bioware are filthy misogynists who want to support the patriarchy and rape culture of modern society!

Lazy development or veiled misogyny, or the mirroring of historical human culture and exploration in which men go first... usually to their deaths

It's not fair to say they hide the females.  it's all about model and design budget.  in me1 there was male turian, male krogan, but a female quarian.

We all just figured low budget was the reason we had the women on crew. I also just think BW didn't think about what they'd look like as the tendency is to just slap breasts on it and call it female which looks bad on Turians, Krogans, and space bugs I think they should've just made them look like the males in the cases of Krogan, Turian, Salarian, Drell, ect (basically the race's female population we haven't seen) and just give them larger or smaller bodies and skip the burkas. With clothing, coloring, and voices that would'v'e been enough for fans to figure the sunset colored Drell is a woman because she's taller then Thane and is speaking in a higher vocal range.
