I think Jacob is one of my favorite characters in the ME universe, even if I havent played ME Galaxy.

I think Shepard is like 29 or 30 in the first game.  Now he/she is 31 or 32... though that may be a little different since he/she spent the last two years as a popsicle.

They're the only class that starts with them and can use the Light Machine Gun variants.
I am hoping that other class, especially the Engineer, can learn the Assault Rifle... The burst variant is obviously no light machine gun. So it should work. 

And if all else fails I'm stuck with the desert eagle Pistol I suppose. Not really a fan of SMG's.

Other classes can "learn" AR through research missions.  Soldiers are the only ones who can use a light machine gun though.

It should be pretty clear that he is a war veteran, alliance military and survived the geth campaign.

Btw you guys are way too informed, i couldn't do that, i am pretty sure i would spoil some of my fun ^^.
