Just think about it. What you did in mass effect 3 only affected the milky way galaxy because of the mass relays only being there. Instead now your main character is in another galaxy with whole different races and political systems. There is no reapers here and civilization finally found a way to travel to other galaxies.

Now here is the interesting part. When you go to the other galaxy (the milky way) you find the consequences of your actions from mass effect 3. The people may be simlar to your galaxy (destroy ending), or they could be drastically different using the reapers knowledge they have grown to become extremely intellegent. If you chose the synthesis ending you meet people who know no conflict and have huge understanding of all the civilizations of the past.

I personally think meeting the people of another galaxy and exploring how different they are because of shepards decision would be a cool concept.

It most likely will be in the Milky Way.

I don't rule it out for other games, but 'ME4' seems to be at least mostly in the Milky Way.

I wouldn't mind at least a small degree of exploring (in story, in travel mechanics) outside of it though.

It will be in the Milky Way. Mass Effect is set in the Milky Way. There are no Mass Relays in any other galaxies, so it wouldn't be Mass Effect.

So, no. No no no no no no no no no

mass effect doesn't equal mass relay, it is just another theory/law in science. If the same laws of physics apply in another galaxy then they could have relays also.

Less than 1% of the Milky Way galaxy had been explored by the Council races.

Setting a new game in a different galaxy would be just plain wasteful

Agreed. Aside from that, it also disposes of just about every single species we're familiar with, our own included. Time wasted on this would be better spent on an entirely new IP altogether.

Then I wouldn't buy it. I don't give a **** about entirely/completely alien setting.

no lets stick with the milky way for now.

A bit off topic but do you think other galaxies have/had reaper invasions?

I doubt it, since they're just a creation of Leviathan (an inhabitant of this galaxy), and the closest galaxies I think are 160,000 light years away (dwarf galaxies at least. Andromeda is a big spiral like the Milky Way and over 2 million light years). The Milky Way itself is around 120,000 light years in diameter, so they're certainly able to set up a network of relays across these vast distances.. but I have my doubts they'd invest the same time in other galaxies as well.

edit: Of course, this is all for fun.. so maybe there's some kind of black hole or wormhole plot device for intergalactic travel as well.

Then it has no relation to mass effect. If we're not playing the same races, in the same galaxy, or feeling the repercussions of me3, there's nothing connecting the two games. It'd be very strange for them to start you in another galaxy, just to come to the milky way.

Why did you put "spoilers" in the thread title as if you had any actual, factual information to offer? I'm thinking you don't know what the word "spoiler" means.

How do you know there are no other relays, in other galaxies?

But I also think it will stay in the Milky way as I believe there will be only a human protagonist.

Reapers build relays, reapers stay in or just outside our galaxy, thus no relays in other galaxies.

But how do you know they only stayed in our galaxy? and for that matter how do you know that other civilisations in other galaxies haven't developed similar technology.

And it still had humans. And called those humans "humans" (they came from Coruscant though).

Already been said, but I don't see the point. You'd have to ditch most of what makes Mass Effect Mass Effect (just a bit of tech doesn't establish an appealing universe), and there's plenty left to explore in this galaxy.
