Needs to have nwn2_icons.2da reservations, that page doesn't seem to mention that. The nwn2_icons.2da can be edited via the toolset (or tlkedit, if they prefer to use that), and will appear in friend's override folder when edited. If they plan on including them in a module/campaign/PW, they would need to be in the campaign folder or a hak.
If you want an example of a working pack with the 2da, you can see this pack

Also, kindly obey the 2da reservations, and reserve a range if you plan on sharing them:

You will want the NWN2 Packer program. It opens and allows you to create new HAK files. Works very much like a Zip program.

That said (and I am surprised Ms Strumpet did not mention this) there is a huge ... nay immense, resource of icons already out there. You might want to look at those too, which are already set up.

You could perhaps overide some content on one of these to get yourself going, if this is for personal use. Better to reserve yourself a place on the 2da and do it properly especially if you intend to share all this good work you have done

Hello, this is his friend, I managed to get the toolset to recognize the icons, but its missing the 2da texture file, and the icons are all multicolored boxes. Does anyone know how to fix this so that the icons are actually there?
-Thanks

Are the images TGA files?
When you entered their names into NWN2_Icons.2DA, did you leave the extensions off? Eg: "it_customicon1" instead of "it_customicon1.tga".

I unpacked the nwn2_icons.2da file, and added in my single test icon name, (now i have the nwn2packer to make a hak file by importing that icon and saving it as a hak file) I placed the modified nwn2_icons.2da file into the override folder. what do i do next? Sorry, I'm more of a hands on learner. I've looked all over for a step by step process of how to import your icons from start to finish.
