Dont you guys hate it when you have something on your mind, and you think it can be said in a few sentences and ends up as a wall of text? lolz... anyway...

Even though the disappointment in D3, DA:2 (mostly reused environments and being trapped in Kirkwall the entire game) and ME:3 (Only the ending) made me more resistant to blindly buying games in the future, I will still buy DA:I without even blinking. Because:
1) I love the Dragon age lore and the universe too much not to buy it2) I trust Bioware. Despite recent shortcommings, the joy and quality Ive gotten from Bioware games has always outweighted the negative.3) The setting of being an Inquisitor and actually LEADING the inquisition appeals to my narcissistic and megalomanic personality
My only BIG fear is the usual rushed content problem. But having read alot on it, I realize that the developers doesent always have the CHOICE and time constraints often forces them to cut stuff.
Bioware has enough "street cred" in my eyes to **** up a few times without me going crazy about it. Blizzard, Interplay, black isle, bioware, Bethesda, Obsidian. These were always my favorites. Blizzards fail on Diablo 3 has brought me thrice the grievance than the ME:3 ending and DA:2 complaints combined, so Bioware and Bethesda are now my favorite gaming companies.
When it comes to communication... I feel Bioware is great. You can get away saying almost anything, and they will listen. The ONLY thing I dont think Bioware handled well was the ME:3 ending. Even though they eventually released an extended ending.
So to sum up. I love dragon age too much not to buy it. And Bioware retains my faith even after some mistakes.
HOWEVER, there is one thing that CAN and WILL destroy my enjoyment out of DA:I so much that I might not buy the next one. One thing that completely ruins a game for me. And that is further dumbing down the game. I felt DA:2 combat was good, but the dumbing down was noticable. Advanced gameplay is extremely important to people like me who wants the biggest challenge (Nightmare) and wants advanced tools to theorycraft with while at the same time being able to roleplay a character. For me the story is 33%, the characters (Background story, dialogue, romance, friendship, character progression) is 33% and the challenge and combat is 33%. Remaining 1%? Visuals I guess. For me - having the game mechanics being dumbed down too much (a second time) will be alpha and omega when it comes to buying the next game.

This is pretty much my definition of a game too dumbed down to enjoy: When you can go with any class-setup, any skill-setup and unplanned or loosely planned attribute placement - and still succeed at the game. If everything works, and anyone can complete the game on nightmare with patience alone - then the game has failed imo.

Hopefully they atleast keep the casual/ easy options.

So far it seems that they are making the game alot more difficult than previous games with. Health potions have always been difficult to get amd then conbine that with low to no hp regeneration.

In what way? Any character with herbalism could make them in DAO, and Elfroot wasn't hard to find even if you didn't go to the Daelish supplier. Same in DA2, even if they're a lot stingier with money there.

I am really excited although I have to admit the whole grappling arm, pull an enemy to you a la Scorpion from Mortal Kombat made me seriously eye roll.

I doubt they will be so hard to get, you'll just be limited with how many you take.  You are, after all, the head of what will end up as a massive organisation.  I expect it'll be able to spare it's leader a few health potions ;)

As for difficulty, I hear there will be multiple ways to change it, from deciding how much of an effect friendy fire will have, to enemy "inteligence" (i.e. tactics), to straight up damage and hit point scaling.  It seems you'll be able to get the experience you want.  None of this is 100% confirmed, mind you, but it is at least intended which is encouraging.

I don't know how to respond to this because I don't know how much we really 'know' at this point.

I don't come to this forum a lot except occasionally (and only relatively recently once I heard about Inquisition).

The real problem is there seems to be only one company out there still making 'classic' CRPGs like I used to love them, and that's Bioware. It's obvious turn-based is dead other than for iOS/Android games, and Might & Magic Legacy. No worries. I've long come to accept that constant-action-RPG plus pause key is the best for everybody, those who crave both adrenaline and tactics. B)  And yes, Spiderweb is still making isometrics like the old days with Avadon 2, but let's face it, we all love 3D and don't we want all of Isabela's, errr, polygons?

Seems to me the CRPG world is stuck in one rut: you = one character. Either in a single player game (the Witcher, Skyrim), or then teaming up with others for multiplayer (basically all the proliferating MMORPGs.) How I miss the days where I got to figure out how to get 6 characters all working together under my control for a common goal. Well, at least DA:O gave me four (five with a mod), plus AI tactics that actually really worked if I just wanted to focus on my own protag-character's actions (which is what I do most of the time, up until the point stuff gets challenging). And, yes, I really do prefer NPCs with personality, interactions, romance along with customizability (meaning, yes, I can shape them as they level up, even if I can't make them like me).

Dragon Age delivered for me. Oh sure, I could quibble. I have been since day one about the three classes plus specs model. I've always wanted more options. An archer should not be a type of rogue, nor a bard. But we digress. The gameworld is interesting. Certainly I find this to be the first CRPG world where racism is a significant element (beyond the typical "elves hate dwarves" stuff). Where the cultures are really "anthropologically' interesting (esp. the Qunari culture). And where class matters, which is why in Origins you see why starting poor or rich affects peoples' destinies. And where there are always mysteries out there in the world. What is red lyrium, where do those portals go? I like that.

Look, here's what I'm hoping for. No more conversation wheel. Real conversation choices, that aren't always reflecting three and only three possible emotional reactions/states. Options for conversation out in the world - look, isn't this where conversation normally takes place? What person do you know who only talks to you in their own home and nowhere else? A game where choices also at least often include options other than combat and force to get to objectives - that could include stealth, trickery, persuasion, maybe even intimidation.

Also, I really hope DA:I comes with modding tools, as always, not so much that I will use them, as that others will, to provide us with a plethora of tasty mods. Which, given the lack of DA2's tools, there were not so many of. The mods I really loved for DA:O essentially made 'Dog' - or someone else - a permanent 5th party member, without having to use one of the 4 slots ... another one actually added a 4th class to the game. That's what you get when you open modding to the community.

There's more, but those are the big things. And look, if these things have already been definitively stated/answered, I apologize, but certainly not in any threads pinned to the top.

If it has gay romances, I'll preorder it.

If it doesn't, I probably won't get it unless it can offer me something equally compelling.

The romance options have never been more than small side part of the games though. I get wanting certain romance options, playing characters certain ways etc, but why base the decision of buying a game based solely on something small, rather than story, gameplay, replayability etc?

Because being able to create a character who is gay and expresses his sexuality in-game is extremely rare. And extremely important to me, personally.

If all I was interested in was fighting dragons, I could play literally anything else. The fact is that outside of gay romances, the Dragon Age franchise has very little to offer me. Origins was a standard, by-the-numbers fantasy story with standard, by-the-numbers characters and pretty average gameplay. DA2 was, I felt, a vast improvement, in that it actually tried something fairly different with its narrative, but the ability to kiss other boys still carries it for me.

As for replayability, I don't think developers should be striving for that in the first place. If a game is good, then its replayability is inherent. And I don't just want to play the same game over and over again anyway. I want to play a lot of different ones.

I loved both DA2 and DAO, so I don't have doubts that I'll like DAI as well. Despite not having any money for luxuries like these, I will try to find the best pre-order deal (and most likely some form of collector's edition) and pre-order it as soon as I'm able.

I feel very positive about Inquisition thus far. Graphics look great and there is still a ways to go in terms of polish. Story sounds suitably 'epic' enough to mean the Inquisitor is a big deal. The combat that we've seen looks to be striking a solid balance between shuffle shuffle swing of Origins and HyperSpeed of DA2 (my only concern about combat that I've seen is the combat roll and the grappling hook, but I'm happy to wait and see how that pans out). I like Cassandra and Varric and Vivienne seems to have 'sass'. Definitely looking forward to seeing Morrigan again.

I guess the only reservations I have about it at this point are (in ascending order of concern);
The difficulty level - I play on Normal (usually) and the limited Health Potions and no health regen will likely see a lot of reloading.
Agents - one of the convention videos we saw showed map screenshots of various keeps and that they required 50 Agents, or 12 Agents or whatever. That sort of thing sets my Multiplayer Senses tingling, but again, wait and see will be the approach.
Multiplayer - the silence about it, is, well a worry. It could stop a lot of heated and often uncivil discussion on these boards if they either confirmed it or (I hope) outright denied it, but until they're ready to tell us, this is also a wait and see.

So, overall, very much looking forward to it.
