They couldn't have said more things right even if they read my mind and said everything I wanted to hear. What they've shown seems to back those claims up as well.

So I can't help but be excited.

After the disaster that DA2 was I am not really all that excited by default and the game has shown me nothing that really made me want to play it. It's got pretty graphics (with wacky design choices) and an extremely predictable and worn out story. The gameplay looks enjoyable enough, but that's always a topic that requires some more insight than only the few scripted parts the developers have shown so far.

We'll see I guess.

That must be one heck of a predictable story if you're already calling it predictable when there's been basically nothing revealed about the story.

Magical portals to a dark underworld open up everywhere and you are the hero who unites the kingdom against the evil forces that come rushing out of it. I consider that a pretty worn out concept.

The 30min PAX videos do show some combat and strategies if you haven't seen them.

But everything is set to super duper easy mode, so you can't really judge anything.

I'm super excited, even though some of the stuff they've shown us has dwindled my excitement. The demo in particular I did not feel too warm towards; the inquisitor's voice was troublingly dull, and the gameplay didn't particularly excite me (it was fine, just not exciting). I was also disappointed to see Varric returning and taking up a companion slot. And I'm not excited about Vivienne at all.

That said, I'm STILL excited about the game!!!! Excited I get to play as an elf, excited to meet the other six companions, excited to see how the narrative is going to play out. BW games are great because of the storytelling, so that's what's going to matter most to me.

I sometimes have to breathe into a paper bag so that I don't pass out from excitement. I have no reservations. A lot of the reasons that I didn't like DA:2 spawned from the "EA-rush-job", I firmly believe that if the DA team had had the proper time, they could've delivered a game as good, or better than DA:O. While I'm on the edge of my seat, and wish that I was playing the game right now, I am very thankful that they pushed the launch-date back in order to allow the team to deliver us the beautiful game they are capable a creating.:o

Agreed. It really only shows concepts, and we can't really judge how deep or challenging it will be. I just wasn't sure if he saw them based on his comments.

While I'm not convinced that any of the BW artists have learned how to properly draw hands, and body proportions, I'd say that I'm also in the 'cautiously optimistic' category.

Of course it sounds worn out when you reduce the plot summary to a single sentence.

Magical portals are really the only thing that's confirmed there anyway. David Gaider did say at some point that we would not be gathering allies and uniting the kingdom like in DAO.

We still have no idea how the inquisitor comes to power, how the story will progress, how individual character arcs will play out, or how the conflict will be ultimately resolved.

I was really excited before DA2 and ME3 came out, and in the end was disappointed with both for different reasons.

This time I'm not really excited, so maybe I won't be disappointed...
In any case, I mean to wait before deciding to buy, certainly no pre-order for me.

If it weren't for Dragon Age 2 and BioWare's other recent games tempering my expectations, I may have felt excited.

They're saying all the right things so far, but then ME3 sounded great early on too. So still taking a wait and see approach

I think it will be a good game, though I don't expect to like it like DAO or BG2. I don't like the way Morrigan looks or Cassandra looks and I wonder if other characters we've seen in previous DAgames, if they show up in DAI, will look as bad.
I expect Project Eternity will be a better game, but I do expect to buy DAI, just to play it and come here and read the complaints about it and decide if they're valid imo or not.

I'm optimistic.
(As I have been from the start. I liked every Bioware game to date, so I have no reason to doubt the entertainment potential of DA:I.)

I'm on the fence. Combat looks...reasonable I suppose. Certainly more enjoyable than DA:O. I'll probably wait and see what the player reviews have to say. No way in hell am I preordering after DA2.

Curious but cautious more than anything right now. Can't really call myself optimistic or pessimistic as of yet. Mainly just waiting for more information.

I'll probably end up getting the damn game at some point regardless. Unless the demo is hopelessly unimpressive like DA2's was and the forum feedback is a total mess. Assuming that is not the case, the main question is not whether or not I will buy it, but when. If the demo is strong and the detractors mostly seem like the standard ******-and-moan-cause-it-doesn't-reach-my-idiotic-standard types, I'll probably get it new within the first couple weeks of release. If there is considerable feedback saying the game is weak, I may wait a bit for a price drop or used.

Many stories sound very interesting, even just teased or in summary: DA2 and the mage/templar conflict, or that everything you have ever done in Mass Effect leads up to the Reapers' arrival for example. In comparison, the opening of evil magic portals everywhere is kind of an ass-pull after the Blight and is only vaguely continuing what happened in DA2.

Good thing that you hold to the word of trusty BioWare so highly. Never would they make false accouncements...

That is not really the point of discussion right now. I am just saying that the overarching story is about as interesting and unique as rescuing the princess from the evil sorcerer.

I think it looks like it could have some great potential. They're saying things we've all heard before though: 'immersion', 'freedom', 'choices that matter', etc. If they pull off what they're saying they want to, then the game should be pretty awesome. The only thing that would really stick in my craw are pre-order exclusives and tons of DLC. If they go that route, I'll be waiting until it's discounted. The timing of the game release is good though, as I'll probably be building a new rig around then.

As excited as is possible for a 20yo male to be without squealing. Better paced combat, they opened the world, brought back my bro varric, and gave us some new nations to play in. I'm sold

I have little doubt they will go this route, unfortunately... All the side material (books, comics, anime, whatever else they come up with) is a big turn off for me as well. :?

Was getting excited until I read that the dragon age keep won't take Warden/Hawke's appearance into consideration which seems to decrease the chance of them actually playing any form on meaningful role in Inquisition and thus again giving no real connection to it's previous story (like I felt DAII failed to connect to DA:O). Hopefully I'm wrong about my assumption or misunderstood something or the game just turns out to be damn good regardless. Cautious for now.

They'll just put a helmet, mask or a hood (depending on class ) over their heads so thar we can't see their faces and they'll kill them at the begining, during The Veil Tear that kills everyone except for the Inquisitor.

As for the game... it seems ok.

The magical portals are not interesting by themselves, no. The mystery behind who is responsible for the veil tears could be intriguing. Still not sure.

But, you also said the story is predictable. My main point was we don't know to say one way or another.

Hehe, possibly, can't say that makes it any better....
