DA:I looks very very good so far. The new graphics engine looks to work perfectly as well.

So far there's a lot of stuff that appeals to me and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Inquisition... so far.

It looks too much like DA2, so much so I'm kinda on the fence about buying it.

Yeah.  I hated a lot of the changes in DA2, including the user interface.  I'm also hoping that the game will be available in disc form, and not require Origin or any other b.s. DRM.  But the tactical view is back, as are multiple races.  That's a start.

Bioware games are my favorite and most played games. So yeah, I'm super excited. I'm especially pleased that they listened to us and are adding in playable races when that originally wasn't going to be an option. I like the extra focus on exploration and the semi-open world nature of the game. The combat seems to be a mix of DA2 stylish action and DA:O tactical focus which is great news. Also, can't wait to hear all the Cassandra and Varric banter.

Based on info we know about & footage we've seen, how do you feel about DAI?

I look at it this way. Bioware is a competent team that has the potential to make games at the highest level (e.g DAO GOTY and nominated GOTD), therefor I assume that given enough time they will make a game of that quality. The only thing that could go wrong is loss of influential developers, which I haven't heard of.

So to directly answer your question, I guess I would say I feel good about it.

Hard to imagine it looking much better, a year out from release, than it does. The landscapes are beautiful and the variety of equipment looks like I'll be spending as much time in the menu for this one as I did in the original. Can't wait.

I'm indifferent at the moment. The game looks too much like DA2 mixed in with a bit of Elders Scroll and DA:O. I suppose I should be happy that it's suppose to be a compromise between the old and new instead of full out rejection of DA:O like DA2 was, however the same thing was said with Mass effect 3 and that game turned out to be a disaster from start to end. Mostly due to auto dialog and the huge focus they have on improving combat.

Bioware just keep changing up their sequels far too much for my taste. It seems to me that they are always hunting to draw a new crowd in and it always end up having a negative impact of the game. It makes me wonder why they make sequels at all instead of new universes with each game like they used to do.

Besides stating the effort was a mix between DAO and DA2, they also said they're looking at Skyrim. Also Baldurs gate 1 & 2 were sequels and they were critically acclaimed RPGS, 2 being consider a vast improvement from 1.

The slight problem I have with this is that Skyrim, in my opinion, is an awful, awful game. Now open world games can be good. The Gothic series and New Vegas for example did it right and I can't imagine Bioware would go for the Elder Scroll approch rather then a more heavy story style to an open world. However... it's not something we seen them do before so I'm not sure how good Bioware will be at this kind of thing until we get closer to release and see whole quests play out or get a real taste of what the game is like. Just 30 minute vidoes doesn't quite tell it all.

Beyond that I must admit it makes me slightly worried when a company feel they have to try to look for outside influences for their sequels rather then simply focusing on what they do best to improve their earlier games.

I agree.  Bioware had a big hit with Dragon Age: Origins, and I never understood why they decided to distance DA II from it in nearly every way possible.  There were so many unnecessary changes.  It's a case of fixing what wasn't broken.

If it is, I'll be ready this time. "It's by a different team" I told myself after being so disappointed by DA2 and waiting for ME 3 to come out. "It's just a demo, the real game won't be like this" I convinced myself after playing the ME3 demo. There will be none of that this time.

This is the first BioWare game that's had a decent development time since 2010, so I'm somewhat optimistic.

Meh...I'm on a strict no Hype diet. So I am neutral on this game. I hope to be surprised.

Sadly all the stuff I've seen isn't done well, or is muffled. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong videos on YT.

But I'm so jaded I'm keeping my expectations very low so not disappointed.

The decision to make all races playable has made me go from indifferent to curious. There will be no preorder or listening to marketers this time. If the demo doesn't wow me, I'll wait until it's in the bargain bin.

I was looking at some youtube videos and saw DAO best game of the year awards and stuff. Will DAI be good enough to win at least one award ? You can look online and see most of the games projected for 2014:
http://en.wikipedia....in_video_gaming
assuming this list is close to accurate. Will DAI be better in your mind than most of these other games projected to be released ?

Sounds like another thread in itself.

Unfortunately that could be more true than it seems at first glance. I hope you liked Cerberus' role in ME3! (I really hope that leak in February was wrong or things have been changed)

Inquisition:

I want to finish out Dragon Age so I will be buying this game at some point. Fortunately it is being released close to Black Friday.

The graphics look nice although there are some questionable design decisions and some rough edges, but it's still pre-alpha, right?

The combat so far looks okay although we haven't seen much. I am glad to hear the tactical camera is back.

I will be playing as human but I am glad to hear multiple races are back for others.

These last few games have been pretty rocky. I have very little confidence in the writing of the plot and concerns about the characters as well.

I am sure it will be better than Dragon Age 2 for whatever that is worth.

Everything looks and sounds positive so far. I have very few complaints. DA2 raised red flags for me all throughout development. I haven't got that vibe at all in DAI.

I can't wait for it to come out. Looks like it will be better than the previous 2 by a long shot.
