Let me start by saying I do not believe Hello Games can actually make this kind of game in the way they want with the team of 4 they have. It just sounds way too ambitious and awesome for me to get my hopes up too high. But...

...I'll be damned if this isn't at least meant to be a gaming experience I've been dreaming of my whole life. I'm not convinced it'll work just as well and smoothly as intended, but if it does - oh my Glob! Kudos to the guys of Hello Games for having a grand vision, and if this continues to look as good I'll do what I can to support them.

But waaaait... what the hell am I even rambling about here? I'm talking about No Man's Sky, an insanely ambitious SciFi game, with... nah, let's just watch the trailer, shall we?

So, that's that. Woah!

Here's also an interview from Gametrailers.com with Sean Murray from Hello Games, talking about his studio's plans with their new game:

Well, I just wanted to get this here on the BSN, so discuss, speculate and criticize to your heart's content. :wizard:

Bad news:

‘No Man’s Sky’ Devs Hit by Office Flood; Microsoft to the Rescue?

Announced via the company’s Twitter feed on Christmas Eve, the developer’s Guildford-based studio appears to have been hit by a torrential flood of “biblical” proportions. After detailing the extent of the damage done – including the loss of most of the 4-man team’s PCs, monitors and even a wall – the company went on to drop an even bigger bombshell.

It appears that, according to local insurance policies, the studio’s relatively high-risk locale prevents them from receiving any kind of compensation, leaving the budding young enterprise at risk of financial meltdown.

That sucks.

They should start a kickstarter.

I really hope someone steps in to help them, floods are nasty and to lose everything because of one sucks majorly.

Maybe they got flooded because they called water "hydrogen dioxide."

That's definitely a flooding offence if true.

Lame. I had just heard about this game last night... and now the Fates have conspired to shut down this insanely ambitious, if possibly already doomed-for-failure-before-the-actual-natural-disaster, game.

I was so happy when I heard this I did a little dance. This is one of the few games that has me genuinely excited about this generation.

Oh. Sweet. That's excellent.

I'm very curious about their procedurally created content. With enough base resource variety, including art assets, gameplay variations and even writing/story/quest elements that could be implemented at a somewhat random level, procedural content could be truly mind boggling.

Speaking of next gen, if the PC is so great, then why hasn't there been a PC 2, huh?

Software upgrades don't count. Their logo has to change in the advertisements.
