Because I find it fun, isn't that the reason most people play games?

I get that, I was more interested in what makes it fun for people, is it collecting? Team work? The setting? etc

The fun that comes from the variety of kits, and the challenge that is PuGs. So, 'fun,' I guess.

It took me many months to come to terms with the fact that I'd still be playing the game two weeks after any time I asked the question. This game has a subtle charm.

Usually I play it if gta v servers are being annoying and disconnecting me/friends repeatedly.

ME3 mutliplayer has an excelent depth to complexity ratio. It's easy for new players to jump in with only a base level understanding of the mechanics but what new players and veterans can do with the same kits are worlds apart - it definitely rewards skill and experience beyond unlocking better gear and mods, etc. Good teamworking requires experience and a comprehensive understanding of powers and game mechanics.

The game is deceptively simple and repetitive on first glance but as soon as you start coming into contact with more experienced players with their own unique builds and combos it's like jesus christ how did he do that?

As you start unraveling more of the games complexity and your understanding of the mechanics grows the gameplay  possibilities increase exponentially and the transformation of your skills is incredibly rewarding to watch... be it yourself or your friends.

Moving up from bronze to silver to gold to platinum is extremely rewarding. I started on bronze but can solo gold now without crutch classes but i'm still not platinum solo material. There still a lot I have to learn to get there and it's been over a year. It's funny to see new players in PUGs where you were a year ago to realise just how far you have come.

I find it difficult to stay away because I don't want to get too rusty and let a years worth of progress go to waste and there are still ultra-rares I haven't unlocked yet.

Because I enjoy co-op things. So many online parts of games are competition, competition, competition! I don't mind it every now and then, but I really enjoy just playing with other people.

And when it comes to shooters, I still find the Mass Effect series more enjoyable than any other I've played. I don't know why for the most part, but I do know it's because I'm actually somewhat decent at it, which I attribute to it being a TPS rather than an FPS. I'm horrible at FPS games, you should see my K/D ratio in Halo 4. Or maybe you shouldn't, might give you nightmares.

And despite the simplicity of ME3's multiplayer, I find it fun, relatively relaxing, and enjoyable. Even with me still relearning the game on the PC. I'll get the hang of it eventually.

To play as different classes without having to go through the entire SP again.

Oh, that and to be part of biotic boom squads :D

Oh yeah, Biotic Boom Squads are so much fun.  I've been pugged with a few.  So many explosions, so little time!

I always find something to do to spice things up a bit. Recently I've been launching mooks into the atmosphere using my huntress and I've been running around with a falcon with my geth soldier decked out in Sanic colors. Peoples elbow? Nope, tooslow.

I like the co-op, the space magic, the explosions and when I wipe I get up thinking how to do it differently next time to do it better. Also never get tired of hearing the Krogans laugh and the vorcha make me smile.

Well, MP helped me to deal with Gainaxish ending of the trilogy at first.
Then I've got:
Playable turians, quarians and others.
Dynamic gameplay.
Noncompetitive and competitive gameplay at the same time.
Some relation to lore.
Variability of builds.
Consumable ammo powers remind me of ME1

I can't do anything but agree with Kislitsin.
It's like you can have a great time of saying goodbye to the Mass Effect universe and for the first and last time you can be that biotic Asari or Turian or even that raging Krogan.

I've taken two pretty long breaks but keep coming back. I love the Mass Effect universe, and MP is an outlet for that while waiting for another game. Frankly, the MP on ME3 was far better than the SP.

But most of all, I think I really enjoy that it it a co-op MP game. Some of my favorite games have been co-op...things like Twisted Metal or even all the way back to Contra as a kid. I've really only played a handful of other games' MP component (little bit of Assassin's Creed and RDR...none of the big name shooters), and I never found them interesting enough to stick with for very long. Mass Effect is unique in that regard for me. It marries two things I love: the amazing ME universe with what I would call "cooperatively competitive" gameplay.

Also...I am a completionist, So I have to scratch that maxed-manifest itch...
