Depends on the PUGs I end up with. Do people ever look behind them?!

Platinum. I don't like the idea of mixed enemies and wave compositions (no Assault Troopers, Geth Troopers and Cannibals after wave one) but gold is too easy.
I do wish there were platinum level difficulty single faction options. Preferably with one rank higher of enemies.

Reapers: Harvester
Cerberus: ...Psychotic Biotic (Picture fighting a near-Jack-level crazypants Adept, not the Jack you get, but the one in the cut scene that tore through two YMIR Mechs with her hands.)

By far for me, the most fun I've had in this game is when I rock a Platinum with a complete stranger or three. I love the challenge. Particularly I remember having to completely readjust my tactics, but also some over all strategies I employed in the game when I was first introduced to phantoms creeping around behind me while I was concentrated on that Geth Prime. Died a lot before I really started to "Watch my six" in platinums regardless of who I had it set to. I like the credits, and I love the feeling of blowing up bosses like they were mooks when you get at least 2 kits capable of working well together, and players who're using some seriously equipment/consumables.
This is more or less exactly how I feel in regards to favorite difficulty. The most fun I ever have with the game occurs if I manage to start up a really good platinum pug. The feeling of extracting in under 20 minutes with just a random group surmounts any other victories for me. And I get a few new Origin friends out of the deal too
...now that being said, by far I have had my worst moments in
Platinum as well. It's much more hit'r'miss, with greater extremes at
both ends. It's my favourite, but I don't constrain myself to only
playing Plats. (I'm looking at you box'o'shamers. That method of
playstyle is sooooooo boooooring and foooorever-taking.)
Earlier tonight I somehow managed to get harassed and killed by the same geth pyro three times. THREE

Ok? on platinum you meet every enemy from every faction; now what?Kinom001 wrote...
Gold, for the enemy variety.
Platinum because having every cheating bioware "please" enemy on one wave is fun. is a full part with hunters, dragoons, banshees, primes, and swarners cuming at you all at once!

Also the enemy pacing is a bit more straightforward (the rate at which tougher unit types appear).
Mind, this is just for fun. Obviously playing bronze is a bad idea if you're trying to max a manifest.

This. biower pls.
I've only played platinum twice, but it gets really tedious just fighting bosses and wearing them down. Even more so if there's a banshee, or praetorian because I like playing a squishy wizard. I've only just recently been playing gold with consistent success, but it's a lot more fun because of the smaller units to take care of that change up your fighting stlye from "kite and shoot with right hand advantage"

Since his goal in every game is to not finish bottom, I'd rather not take him to plat... Hell, I'd rather not pug plat in the first place.

Plat is boring, Silver is annoying, and Bronze is for grenade kits.

Platinum isn't much harder than gold it just that the boss spam restricts your choice of build, it makes things like the Volus Protector Nutpuncher or melee specced Cabal/Shadow a lot less fun. I maxxed my manifest ages ago so I don't need the extra credits ... and the mixed faction thing grates on my nerves a little (I know they're all sub-factions of the Reapers even if they don't all realise it - but you never got Cerberus knowingly fighting alongside Reaper forces in the SP game so it just seems kind of wrong to me, Reapers/Collectors I've got no problems with though).
Silver and Bronze there basically aren't enough things to kill with a team of 4 - I solo them occasionally when I feel like clocking off the "over cover grabs" challenge in Combat Mastery.

I want a difficulty between Bronze and Gold. Yes, I know Silver is situated firmly between Bronze and Gold, but it just feels like there aren't enough enemies. Kind of like the single player has, narrative, casual, normal, hardcore and insanity. I feel like there needs to be another difficulty level in there or two. Another one before bronze, and another one before Gold. And a definite increase in credits for each.
