Too bad it wasn't a poll. It would be interesting to see how the average preferred difficulty changed over the time of more than 1 year. I'd expect it to go up.

I prefer the difficulty that's playable, yet challenging. Used to be Silver with an occasional Gold (in a group) when I stopped playing a year ago. Now after I got back into playing the game, I played Silver for a couple days as a warm-up and moved to Gold. A week later I was pretty comfortable on Gold. And I still have no business on Plat unless a group of decent players invites me (and I'm playing one of the 3 most powerful characters in the game). So Gold it is for now.

You have THE gun, though! Both best guns in the game, actually. With a little practice, you should be play Harrier TGI and Reegar AIU on Platinum.

Both are low levelled, unfortunately.

Sliver

I try to never play higher difficulty a than I can carry An entire team of lames kicking and screaming to glory on.

And I exclusively PUG so........

This is basically how I feel, but I also have a maxed manifest so credits don't mean much

If I had to live by that rule I wouldn't even be able to play Bronze.

Why does one have to be able to carry? Bleeding out and starting a fresh game is a totally viable option. Usually more fun too.

I'm beginning to feel like maxing my manifest was the worst thing that happened in this game.

But you can't be too blasé about acquiring credits, how else are we gonna buy all that Cryo IV?

So don't extract twice :D

Gold, and the occasional Platinum with a team of scrubs from my friend list.

Fixed :D

Bronze. Everything else is just EZ mode slow moving armoured bullet sponges everywhere. Cannibal and Guardian spam is a much greater test of my prodigious skill.

I heard you got sync-killed by a Husk on wave 3 of Bronze ;)

And I thought I should be ashamed for mostly pugging Gold, yet so many still love to pug Silver with a max manifest? This is quite the surprise to me.

Silver..ALL Day..Errry Day....I beat the store..I can do what I want ( in Cartmans voice) Nah, really I do silver/gold...1st game of the night is a silver with a horrible weapon to warm up...(Scimitar Volus)..then usually 2 golds   then Im done for the night..( Cause I play NBA2K while I am drinking...around 6 games of that before I switch)..then passing out time tends to occur.

Huh, neat to see all the replies. I figured Gold would edge ahead and it seems like it did.

For myself, I promote to reset 90% of the time, so I'll bum around on Silvers with my low levels until I have whatever core powers/ranks I feel necessary to competently go up to Gold/Plat.

I Gold with kits I'm either new to, weak on, or less than lvl 16ish. Or if finding a Platinum pug lobby becomes a stressful exercise in futility... oooor if I've made a kit that I want to take to against a specific faction (Geth for instance with synthetically potent abilities.)

By far for me, the most fun I've had in this game is when I rock a Platinum with a complete stranger or three. I love the challenge. Particularly I remember having to completely readjust my tactics, but also some over all strategies I employed in the game when I was first introduced to phantoms creeping around behind me while I was concentrated on that Geth Prime. Died a lot before I really started to "Watch my six" in platinums regardless of who I had it set to. I like the credits, and I love the feeling of blowing up bosses like they were mooks when you get at least 2 kits capable of working well together, and players who're using some seriously equipment/consumables.

Platinums offer to me a challenge no other difficulty does. I don't have to scorew'hore to enjoy it, I just like working on the difficulty with funky kits. Did a pug plat on Ghost the other day with two Asari and two Drell (I took my drellpimpguard out of the closet) Everyone went down soooooo much, but everyone was quick to revive everyone else, so the foolery was fun instead of... foolish. I definitely did not score top, but I also definitely enjoyed myself.

...now that being said, by far I have had my worst moments in Platinum as well. It's much more hit'r'miss, with greater extremes at both ends. It's my favourite, but I don't constrain myself to only playing Plats. (I'm looking at you box'o'shamers. That method of playstyle is sooooooo boooooring and foooorever-taking.)

It's interesting looking back at this now.

I'd say Gold wins flat out after re-glancing through this topic.

I barely touch silver now, even if I promote I'm at the point where I'll save millions beforehand to buy Recruit/Reserve packs. I'm almost exclusively platinums myself now. Think I've done about 95% platinums and 5% golds in the past several months.

The thing that's changed a bit for me is my take on box-o-shamers and camping. If I see a crew working together fairly well I'll stick with em. The population is lower and my tolerance has gone up as a result. I think I take the game a lot less seriously now as well. Only 14 UR's to go for the first legitimately maxed PC account in forever. (trolol.)

So don't extract twice :D

Meh can only maintain if there are at least two members of a Bloodpack race or Batarians in the group.

So situationaly  useful suggestion at best.

Gold to level up from 1 to 15-17. Then Platinum. Im still havent done any platinum solo(rest are done). Should give it a try...

Am wasting all level 1 and 2 items and explosive ammo, on gold, so Im kind of farming a lot of level 3 and 4. Im feeling like everyone else is working FOR me using their level 3 and 4 items, and missiles on gold just to have the highest score XD even so Im usually on 3rd or 2nd XD

Gold. It's challenging enough for me but I still have some leeway to play kits I don't do well with or which aren't optimized. On Plat I feel I need to take the highest DPS vs armor kit/weapons I've got, which makes it less fun. Maybe if I played more plat I'd feel comfortable taking my Human Engineer with Avenger, but at this point that feels like hell (I suppose it didn't help that we got Condor the one time I tried it).

Gold all the way, haven't done bronze or silver for years, but platinum I'll do occasionally for the credit boost.

Every character works in gold, but its still a good challenge and success is not guaranteed.

Platinum. Not because Gold is too easy, but because it feels so monotonous. Wave 5 onwards you're basically playing the same wave over and over again with minor differences. It gets boring fast.

I pugged platinum while I was trying to max my manifest, and since I've played an unhealthy amount of gold. I actually enjoyed playing all that platinum, not knowing whether or not I'd be good enough to carry the team through it. Naturally it made me better the more I played it, though there were still games where I was essentially soloing and was in a no-win situation. :P

Gold is what I enjoy the most personally. I do like to play Plat also assuming the connection is sound and that I have at least one other friend to talk to if it becomes a solo to clinch a wave.

I keep meaning to pug Platinum much more since I maxed my manifest. Then one day, I decide to do it, and get three games in a row on Giant vs Reapers. So I quit for another few weeks. And the cycle repeats.

I prefer unobtainium difficulty.

Only possible to play on super laggy hosts, husks ascending into the sky, brutes crawling up from the grave, banshees teleporting across the map, etc.

120fps host using a 56k modem. Ideally vs. Geth. And everyone but you has TacCloak to dump aggro. ^^
