Jacob, Miranda, Mordin, Grunt, Jack, Samara, Thane, Legion, Zaeed, Kasumi.

Taking in mind each of their roles in the plot of both ME2 and ME3, which two squadmates would you drop from ME2 to see the others get more content?

From those remaining in the deck, which two ME2 new-arrivals would you have added to the ME3 crew, and what kind of content would you have liked to see from them?

As it is, James, Liara, Garrus and EDI are the only available squadmates for the first half of vanilla ME3 (no surprise, then, that their stats say they're the most used). I'd think two more would have been a good, even balance.

Drop: Jacob and Samara.
Added to ME3: Miranda and Zaeed.

Content - I would have involved Miranda much more in the Cerberus arc, not just her Sanctuary, and replaced Kai Leng with Zaaed in a double-agent/traitor role. Works with us through most of the game, but is eventually revealed on Thessia as being still working for TIM. ("Sorry Shepard - the Illusive Man pays better...")

A traitor in the midst would imho have worked much better than Leng's incredible plot armour as the reason for Shepard's defeat on the Asari homeworld.

I think Thane, Samara, Zaeed, and Kasumi can all quite comfortably be axed (and I say this as someone who romances Thane). Samara you might want to keep for gameplay purposes as the spare biotic, but the other three are filler. So I'll be really cheap and say Zaeed and Kasumi. If not, Thane and Samara.

I'd have liked to see Miranda join up as party Sentinel around Sur'Kesh. She was captured by the Alliance but you use your Spectre ability to recruit her. She becomes the "Jack" of the ME3 crew who no one trusts or likes and who is both horrified by what Cerberus has becomee and still really cynical about the Alliance. She'd get special dialogue on Grissom and replace EDI at Cronos.

I'd also like to see ME2 Legion back (maybe we always get a geth VI to do the Legion stuff for Rannoch). He's utterly alien and likes it that way; EDI's desires to romance Jeff baffle him. He's the squadmate you get if you side with the geth. He should always be helpful, but a bit innocently sociopathic, as in Jacob's LM.

Samara and Thane are fairly redundant with each other, and yet neither is particularly well-done, so I'd axe them both.

Jacob and Grunt stand out as characters in much need of more content (and even re-write).

None. ME3's squad is already a bit larger than I'd prefer, which is 5-6, once the VS comes aboard.

I'd rather drop two than add two. In which case, Liara and Tali would bounce.

If that were done, Kaidan would be your only biotic squadmate in vanilla ME3 (Garrus, James and EDI would be the only available squadmates for the first half of the game), and EDI *gag* would be your only tech.

Jakob, I could probably do without Jacob, I usualy forget about him alltogether.

Zaeed isn't nessesary for the story but he's a cool character and a DLC one at that. Kasumi, same there. I really liked the Kasumi mission and the added wardrobe addition allowed me to wear something that wasn't plastered with Cerberus logos.

Tali's cameo in ME2 seemed somewhat forced. Unless ofcourse, it ties up with future content yet to be seen.

I like Grunt, krogan and all, but he's not mission critical.

Seeing as they are there I wouldn't want anyone of them removed.

The crew in ME3 might have been somewhat limited.

Not sure. None of this bothered me tbh.

I'd like to see everything completely reworked. Liara takes Hackett's place as your mission brief person and only becomes available after Thessia if she even joins up. Tali is a temp for Rannoch only. Miranda and Jack become temps for a new "Cerberus arc" comprised of Sanctuary, Gellix, Grissom, and Cronos with a choice to reform it under Miranda/Brynn or destroy it. Javik gets full squad status and becomes your "pure" biotic. EDI, James and Javik are your core squad while everyone else rotates in and out as temps or joins late before everyone comes back for Earth and you choose your squad from any former or current squad member.

What I would have liked to see is creative way's to make it seem like the rest of the crew is more involved, the people you don't bring with you.

I really liked how we were able to put people to use on the last mission in ME2 the collector base.

Oh, whoops, I was thinking in terms of my own canon (Javik).

Then, I'd leave it as is, plus Miranda for another squad-sentinel (there's only one, who could be dead).

I also really want to recruit a Cerberus Phoenix-defector from MP and get Smash.

I think Tali and Garrus should have been axed from ME2, in exchange for Miranda and Jacob.

I'd have dumped Jack and Thane from ME2, and added Miranda (I like jtav's interpretation) and probably Legion to the ME3 crew.

You didn't put her on there, but I would have dumped Liara from LotSB and put some interaction in with the squad I already have. Or, at the very least, give me Ashley/Kaidan too. It felt like a mission only those who liked Liara would love, and I didn't

From your list? I would have dumped the warrior monk and the cleptomania enthusiast. Jacob needs a rewriting rather than to be axed. Samara didn't do much for me and Kasumi is barely in the game anyways (a fairly interesting LM aside). Same can be said about Zaeed but I like the idea of having a no nonsense mercenary veteran.

Scratch: Thane and Jacob.

Boost: Jack and Grunt.

The amount of screentime Miranda gets is fine; it just needs to be mildly restructured and rearranged.

I intentionally left out the ME1 squadmates. With the possible exception of Garrus and the VS, they all have pretty major roles in the plot.

Do we have to stop at two? I would have axed almost half the crew of twelve to be honest. Kasumi, useless. Grunt, boring. Jacob, useless and boring. Samara, boring. Thane, boring. I would add back: Miranda or Jack, maybe Mordin from the high-axing number.

If I can't drop the ME1 teammates (which I would like to do), I'd have to say I'd drop Grunt and Samara.

Hell, for ME3, the only characters I wouldn't drop from the ME3 team are Javik and James.

Besides Javik, James, Jacob and Miranda, who else would you put on the ME3 team? The aim here is a complement of eight or so.

Drop: Thane and Kasumi. Thane didn't have a role in the suicide mission and Kasumi was fun, but I already had two people able to go through the vents.

Add: Miranda and Jacob. They were the two biggest pieces of the Cerberus crew. Also for gameplay reasons. Miranda as a Sentinel for those without Kaidan and Jacob could be reworked into a much more useful Vanguard type. Plus I like the fact that he straddled the Alliance/Cerberus line. It would have been nice to hear about that more.

I'd add more orginal characters, with maybe the VS coming back as well. Granted, if it was Ashley, she'd serve to be little more than the butt-monkey and visual demonstration of the idiocy of the alliance.

I'd like a Salarian squadmate, and I am rather sympathetic to the idea of having a Batarian squadmate.

As for other humans, I'd want them to be independent of the alliance and have some kind of different perspective on the war.
