Canonically, Anora FTW.

I like Alistair well enough, but in my experiences with him, I saw nothing to suggest he's capable of leading men, let alone ruling them. Good character is far from enough. You can be a jerk-off and still a good ruler. Anora is smart, strong, and experienced. She's very much the kind of person I would want to see in-charge.

Knowing what I know now, though, I think hardened!Alistair + Anora is the best outcome. I just wasn't good enough friends with Alistair to harden him. But I find that mechanic is a bit nonsensical: if you have ~75 approval w/ Alistair, then you're probably not doing many things that fall in-line with the personality you're trying to influence him towards.

I don't even remember. It wasn't a decision that was particularly important to my Warden.

I made Alistair marry Anora but he sacrificed his life to defeat the Archdemon, so Anora rules alone while my Warden stayed with thr Grey Wardens to honour his late-friend.

In the majority of my playthroughs I've had Alistair become king(to lead the armies ect. he is charismatic and good at it) and Anora as his queen. To pull the strings behind the scenes that make a great kingdom come together.

The two offset each other really well. Anora is a master of politics and manipulation ect. gets her way, which is powerful in negotiation whether with Orlais or closer to home. Alistair is a powerful warrior who can inspire his men to do great feats in the most dire of circumstances.(obviously not when you first encounter him but he really does grow as a person during the game)

I'd say having one of them not on the throne would only weaken Ferelden.

Yes to all, plus female warden with Anora and male warden with Alistair thanks to the modding community.

I have played DA:O more times than I could reasonably count and I know I should be ashamed of that.  If I had to guess at the most common outcome from all my games it would probably be Alistair and my City Elf rogue warden.  If I had to pick from one of the vanilla choices it would be Alistair alone.

Anora and Allistair. Logain in the wardens. The Warden as chief councillor. Anora needs Allistairs kindness, as much as he needs her pragmatism. She wouldn't accept that kind nudge without a big gesture: sparing Logain. Which also helps Allistair understand serving the realm, especially when it is merciful to do so, trumps serving ones personal honor. As a bonus Logain is still a hero to many, and though disgraced, is now a Warden. Best recruitment scenario one could imagine I think.

Male Cousland and Anora. The DA2 dialogue indicates everyone calls him King, so things must have gone well between the two of them.

I've tried most combinations, but I tend to put Alistair on the throne, either alone or with a femWarden, and kill Loghain. Anora only ends up in the tower because there's no option to kill her.

Hardened Alistair, and he ruled alone as my canon play through...Partly because I use Alistair to fight Loghain. It was fitting in my opinion. My Cousland 1 v 1 Howe, and Alistiar 1 v 1 Loghain.

Alistair alone, between her and Anora I prefer Alistair. A lowborn with rights to the throne, good heart and a Grey Warden (not hardened im afraid). Lets see how it turns out. I was male Cousland too btw.

As I said in the other thread, I chose Alistair to rule alone. Alistair treats the mages and elves far better, and with myself serving as advisor, I can shore up any weaknesses he may have.

Besides being a touch hypocrital, Anora is too deceitful and power-hungry for my tastes. Those might be ideal qualities for the ruler of Orzammar or Orlais, but the political game is far different in Ferelden. Power is too de-centralized; there just isn't the same level of intrigue and backroom machinations. Ferelden doesn't need a poor Empress Celene knockoff to run it.

Also, Alistair is WAAAAAY better at giving pre-battle speeches. I'm surprised half the men don't throw themselves on their swords after that.

This is what I feel about Anora.

Image IPB

Anora is very power hungry and very much like her father. I do not trust her to run a country. She refused to execute her father for what he had done to her husband and to the Wardens, and not to mention to the people of Ferelden. She was quick to throw the "execute him" stamp on Alistair if you side with her during the landsmeet whereas Alistair just put her in jail, and didn't wanted harm to come to her. He was very passionate about it too.

Alistair originally did not wanted to become King because he was afraid. He did not know how to be a King since he was never properly guided into that direction. With Arl Eamon as his tutor Alistair would be a very good king, and for that alone I entrust Alistair to become King of Ferelden.

Yes, Loghain is power-hungry, while Eamon isn't? Please.

Eamon isn't responsible for the death of Alistairs father and Duncan whereas Loghain is for aiding the Darkspawn.

Loghain is a war criminal and for that warrents an execution.

Can't you also accuse all the people who went to civil war against Loghain of aiding the darkspawn as well?

Usually I make RegretAl marry Anora and I get Loghain as a Warden. It does differ, however. In my Dalish playthrough he remained a Warden with his love and Anora got the throne for herself and in my Cousland pt He ruled with Anora.

I don't think I plan on importing any saves where Alistair is sole ruler.

not only that he is a traitor of the highest order, and treason deserves death.

On Anora wanting power-you can't be a good politican and not want it.It's not a legitimate ground to not support her.

Loghain isn't the one who put Duncan on the front line-that was Cailan. Cailan has more to do with Duncan's death than Loghain.

I believe he still thinks that Loghain planned for their deaths.
