It's irrelevant who is the infertile one if you put Alistair on the throne since he can produce an heir.
Unless you had him marry Anora, if she is the infertile one.

Cailan was going to become the consort of Celene. Ferelden would've been again under Orlais's rule. Fereldans would've probably called him a traitor.eluvianix wrote...
I would hardly call cementing an alliance when you need help being a traitor.
That would have made him the king of Orlais as well. So it's not like Ferelden would be an petty province again. With an Ferelden man ruling Orlais is only natural the two nations would become one. Of course, it wouldn't be an easy change.

I don't give two damns about Loghain's past heroics. He is a traitor and therefore shall be put to death as such.
Well, it isn't just heroics. Without him Ferelden probably woud have been still under orlesian occupation, Maric would have most likely died and then no more Cailan and Alistair.
Before I read the two novels I had Loghain killed every time by my Warden. I'd think to myself, " What a butthead?". After catching up on some reading, he tugged at my heart. Loghain is a hero and perhaps what he did in Origins was wrong in killing Maric's son. No grandchildren and to see your only daughter be tossed to the side as an empire you struggled to fight against for years be welcomed with open arms. He grew bitter as most people do when they feel life cheated them. I hurt for Loghain sometimes.
I have choosen different out comes. Mostly with Alistair becoming King and me slipping into the shadows.
Sorry for the text. It has been some time since I've played the games and read the books.

Plus, picking Alistair felt "right" for the lore. Calenhad disappeared after naming his heir (just like Maric), and the Qunari interpretation of his rise to power mentions him drinking dragon blood, which supposedly has power. I felt that picking Alistair kept the Witches of the Wilds within the inner loop of the story and the nobility, given that his father (and himself) also encountered a Witch of the Wilds.
Anora doesn't love Alistair, and vice versa. So I didn't force the marriage. I didn't want to the throne, although I only have 3 Wardens, the other 2 being Mage and Dalish. I was going for the "hero in the shadows" kind of persona.
And Anders even says that "the hero of ferelden values his privacy" or something like that in DA2.

Unhardened Alistair leaves Anora alone to rule. Her daddy's still dead though.

First playthrough (male Dalish elf Rogue, Leliana romanced): Alistair, but he died slaying the archdemon (didn't do Morrigan's ritual)
Second playthrough (male Dwarf Noble warrior. Did Morrigan's ritual): Convinced Alistair to marry Anora. but I let him execute Loghain so Alistair ruled alone
Third playthrough (female elf mage, romanced Alistair. Convinced Alistair to do Morrigan's ritual): Alistair (unhardened so he ended the relationship)
Fourth playthrough (female Dwarf Commoner rogue. Convinced Loghain to do the ritual): Hardened Alistair married Anora after I decided to let Loghain become a Warden (only did it for the Recruiter achievement)
Planned:
Fifth playthrough (male City elf warrior. Going to do Morrigan's ritual): most likely hardened Alistair
Sixth playthrough (female human mage, romance Leliana. Going to convince Alistair to do Morrigan's ritual): probably Alistair
Seventh playthrough (male elf mage, romance Morrigan. Going to do Morrigan's ritual): Hardened Alistair and Anora (don't worry, Loghain will still die)
Eighth playthrough (female human Noble, romance Alistair. Going to convince Alistair to do Morrigan's ritual): Hardened Alistair ruling with Warden as queen
Ninth playthrough (female Dalish elf rogue, romance Zevran. Going to convince Alistair to do Morrigan's ritual): Alistair. Maybe with Anora. Not sure

LoL empress would kill him month after and fereledn ends in orlais hands and it ends like before thinking otherwise is just naive and well fits to this guy he just paid for being naive sooner.

So guys who did you choose to rule ferelden ?
Alistair
Anora
Alistair and Anora (together)
Anora and Grey Warden
Alistair and Grey Warden
I choose Alistair alone because it was the best choice for me because I played with male Cousland and Anora only wants power and I think Alistair should marry who he wants and I know he didn't want to be king but he will
be a very good king and ferelden needs him .
So what do you say guys ?
Female Cousland marries Aliatair and makes him King
Female Mage becomes Alistair's mistress and makes him King (alone)
Male Cousland marries Anora and makes her Queen
Male Elf makes Anora Queen alone

He woudn't necessarily be emperor. He'd likely be Prince-consort, and considering his personality, he woudn't have any power. Celene would've still full power, and they wouldn't create a new kingdom. Fereldans would probably not be treated as bad as they were during the occupation, but they'd still be a province, with Orlais in full power, and lost the indipendence they gained after a century. The differences between the two countries make impossible an union on equal terms betwee the two.Jaison1986 wrote...

Beside, you're missing the main point. Fereldans don't want to be united to Orlais in the same country. They don't want to be under an Orlesian ruler. There is no way that they'd have accepted it, and they'd consider Cailan a traitor.

( Did you hear his speech after you kill Lohgain?). Additionally, Alistair himself expressed no desire of his own to become a King. His refusal to reason with my Warden on Lohgain's Joining was most unfortunate otherwise I might have considered becoming his Chancellor BUT he got all butthurt and didn't want to realize 4 wardens (Me, Alistair, Lohgain, Riordan) would have been the ultimate and most optimum battle strategy. SO....I married Anora to give the Banns, Arls, and Teryn's some continuity in the Fereldan government before going on to save both Amaranthine and Vigils Keep and being welcomed back into my Kindgom twice the savior with Rockstar status and then apparently disappearing....lmao.

become king thats why I gave the throne to Alistair and the hero is leading the Grey Wardens
