So I had happily dual-wielding my way through DA:O and DA:OA Lvl 1-29, had just gotten the best dagger in the game (Velvet) had my GM-Paralyze runes set up - and THEN I entered the Silverite Mine. Since this is my first awakening playthrough I wasn't checking the wiki beforehand, and the Silverite Mine bug caused me to lose my daggers and my Vest of the Nimble. I was upset, did not feel like repeating everything, but also didn't want to use sub-par equipment. I was close to trashing the game.

Then, I respecced to archer. Boy, is auto-crit (or close to it at 93% - courtesy of Accuracy and two stacked Songs of Courage) nice, I feel like I'm dealing more DPS, mostly because I don't need to position myself at all, but can just shoot at 300 damage per shot. Even on nightmare, that kills quickly, and is great fun for a change.

Now, here's my question, and maybe somebody did the numbers on this before: Is it worth it to use Aim (which increases my crit chance from 93 % to roughly 160 % and adds Armor penetration), but adds 1,5 seconds per shot/ 0,5 seconds per shot with Fingers of the Nimble/Misery?

Or am I better of without aim, the heartwood bow, and 93 % crit-chance, since that's close to auto-critting already, and the extra 0,5 seconds per shot actually decreases my DPS?

I realize this is a pretty specific question (even http://dragonage.wik...icient_Approach didn't really answer it), but maybe there are still some archers around here sometime?

Even if you have 350% crit damage (which I think is not possible for an archer), it would take something like an aim time of ~1.7 s (or a penalty of only ~0.1 s) to make Aim worthwhile. You don't need the attack bonus either since it's not an issue in Awakening.

Ah, great, that's a very clear answer. In other words, if I don't want to use repeater gloves (I don't), there is no way I can reduce the penalty enough to make Aim worth it.

Thank you!

Even if you have repeater gloves, fingers of the nimble perform better than repeater with aim.

But yeah, accuracy is incredibly overpowered.
