Isabela is a defiant prisoner there... Have you seen reeducational facilities in our world? Some of them certainly aren't pretty. Hell, some of our educational facilities aren't pretty.....

If she didn't break out of that prison then I am sure that she'd be somewhere plowing a field or making pots not knowing she was a pirate, adventurer and scoundrel of the highest calibur.

Isn't that what they do to each conquered populace if they don't convert? Or, assuming they don't have enough qamek on hand, just kill them, like in Kirkwall?

Qamek is not their reeducation... Qamek is used when reeducation fails. Qamek leaves the person subjected to it in a tranquil like state. Reeducation actually makes them Qunari. It makes them see and want to live the Qunari way. Of course it is bound to fail on persons like Isabela, who has been a free spirit for a long time. But reeducation on a downtrodden Alienage Elf? Sure, they are going to want to be part of the Qun, no questions asked.

Indeed female and male brains, as their bodies, are different, thing that makes them better suited for a job. But ( there is always a but) , when ot comes to the brain all those things are just minor perks. For example  women just starts with a slight advantage over men when it comes to communication skills. That doesn't mean that males can try to develop their communicative skills and vocabulary to compensate their biological deficit and reach a level equal or above to a woman. Also, there are other factors in play, like social intelligents, intelect as a whole, social experiences and many other things that can make a person better that others at certain tasks that others, no matter the gender.

How minor these perks are is debatable, though it could always be augmented by our environment and socialisation.

When it comes to the body a male in his top condition will be more powerful than a woman in her top condition. Still, that doesn't mean that she can't train in the use of a wepon and surpass a male enemy in melee combat. After all, that's why weapons are made. Also, there are cases when weaker warriors beat the more experienced and strong ones.If things are so, why a woman that is trained and skilled couldn't fight beside the men ?
In the end, all those advantages (physical and mental) and disadvantages men and women have are just minor boosts (or handicaps) that can be surpassed/enhanced by the other gender with enough work. It's just a matter of adaptability.

You forget that Qunari view their tools/weapons as extensions of themselves and their identity, so to a Qunari, the best female soldier will never be as good as the best make soldier. And to reiterate Emperor, Qunari are all about efficiency, so they don't see there being much point to training a 'second best' soldier.

Not that I truly support this aspect of the Qun. I don't think it's sexist, but I also don't see it as feminist by any stretch. Still, I see it as better than Tevinter and their slavery.

And let's remember that Isabela also stole the Tome Of Koslun. I doubt that I'd be best pleased if someone did that to something of importance to me.

Yeah, that's what I said.

So in what way are they still "of use" to the Qun? According to the wiki it seems to turn people into "mindless creatures", so I'm guessing simple labor? I can see some potential here.

I'd imagine they would use them in the same capacity as the Tranquil in the Circles, but more widely. I'd imagine that the Qamek would be set to work in quarries for instance, since it is hazardous work but not terribly complicated.

If you lived in the Thedas setting, you would most likely be a peasant, and you wold probably cherish the aspect of meritocracy from the Qunari far more than you realize.

While you are right that, if I ended up as a peasant, I would have developed in a different way than now do to those experieces and the fact that I was deprived by my curent one, I was reffering to the actual me, the one that types this words.

If by absurd some hocus pocus would happen and I would end up in Thedas, I would most likely end up a qamek drone if forced by the qunari to submit to the Qun because my non-cooperation and do to my atempts to escape - they don't seem to like this.

I think I'd find myself a cozy spot in the Qun (or get it assigned whatever), and enjoy my three meals a day. Why would I ever want to live anywhere else on Thedas?

I believe David Gaider or one of the other devs did say that for a Qunari, they consider their coworkers their family.

When you mix Qunari and coworkers, I can't help but think of a Qunari wearing a shirt and tie, sat in a cubicle, typing away at his computer. And not being able to tell if he hates or loves his job.

That's what I was referring to when I said that there are other factors that might play a part in the developement of an individual.

No, I didn't forget about the tool thing. I just don't see it as an important thing ( the fact that I don't think like a qunari might play a part in it ).

As for the slavery part - it depends how you view things. While the qunari don't make their people slaves, I see the fact that they limit their choices and deprive them of free will ( it it's against the qun ) as an indirect form of self-imposed ( or not ) slavery.

I really hate to say it, but I would side with Tevinter. Tevinter is the only thing keeping the Qunari from attacking the rest of Thedas, and siding with the Qunari would be like handing the rest of Thedas over to them.

When the Qunari want to attack the rest of Thedas, they will. Regardless of whether Tevinter is standing or not.
