Friendships and Rivalries from DA2 in Inquisition

I mean for instance I barely even talk to Alistair, since I'm romancing Zev, but through dialogue and gift spamming, he's at 'love' practically and I never said too words to the guy really''
I think DA2 is more....realistic? I'm usually at max rivalry with Merrill due to the mirror thing, but that's ok, somehow I managed to max out friendship with Fenris, on a MageHawke no less.
I like that the DA2 crowd can agree to disagree yet still get the job done

Isabella is a bit of a more proactively heroic character if Rivaled. Merrill smashes the mirror. Anders can be convinced to side with the templars but only in some cases and kills himself afterward. Friendship and Rivalry is mostly the same if he sides with the mages.

Hmm, almost no one (except Icy) addressed the question that the OP was actually asking. Which was whether or not Hawke's friendship/rivalry status with companions would be acknowledged in DAI. Not whether the system itself would or should be back.
I doubt hawke if present in the game will be that big a factor, the same goes for the companions except of course for Varric.
This isn't DA2.5
hawke may not be, but varric will certainly play a role, a surviving anders (rare) will be entangled with the Mage rebellion, a Merrill with a working eluvian could potentially affect the story, aveline and Isabella might be sidelined, but rivaled Sebastian intends to return to rule starkhaven , and Fenris could easily be a part of any tevinter storyline.

Don't want that system in DAI.
I do, the system in DA2 is prefect for a world where there is more important things going on than someone getting there feelings hurt. For DA:O its prefect because like it or not, the blight is here and if you dislike the person leading you yet s/he is the only one doing something about it, you don't really have a choice in the matter.
The same can be said about having the tears everywhere. More important things to worry about.
In DA2... honestly if you hate the guys guts, why are you still talking to them??
So I think the DA:O system should have been in DA2 while the DA2 system needed to be in DA:O and DA:I

How can anyone adress other than people who are working on the game? And I doubt they will tell us anytime soon. You know cause of NDA contracts and what not.

I think Gaider mentioned a while ago that their current plan for the approval system was closer to Origins than 2.
If that carries through, I hope they'll manage to avoid the pitfalls of how Origins did it. I hated having to a be a sycophant to all my companions in order to avoid them getting negative stat bonuses and walking out on me. DA2's rivalry system had its flaws, but at least my protagonist could have a consistent position on all issues and not end up with half a party by game's ending.
I am not sorry please be offended. . "I want my all companions to love me so my character will have tripil personality disorder". Screw metagamers.
Developers said that DA:I will be more like DA:O. Just you don't get dialog because you give sten cookie and he likes you more, but you have event and your approval affects tone of dialog.
And please stop lock in then you reach max approval it doesn't make any sense. And even cause bugs like Merrill. I don't give Merrill dagger?(some item) and my friendship loced max. So after return to Merrill's home she all thank you for helping me

The same is true with Anders. If he lived, Hawke could still have told him to get lost. That should result in a different perspective from Anders if he were to return. Personally I'd really like the fact one of my Hawkes ended her friendship with Anders to be acknowledged in any cameo from Anders that mentions the Champion.

I think Merrill's Friendship/Rivalry could have an impact, but I'm not really sure how other characters would change in noticable ways. Maybe Sebastian, but it seems like circumstances are pushing him to try for the throne of Starkhaven whatever you advised him.
Merrill could be with Hawke (if romanced), although I suppose she could make an appearance if the Dalish are gathering for arlathvhen; the Friendship/Rivalry position could determine her view on the Eluvian, but I don't think the elven artifact would really come into discussion. If the Inquisitor heads to Starkhaven, I'm sure Friendship/Rivalry should have an impact as to his personality.
