I have just started playing on Platinum and I am fairly good at it but I am not doing particularly well.

The single character that I have settled on is the Batarian Soldier. I like him because he is very balanced. I have double the health of most characters if you include the damage reduction I get from using the blade armor. I also have all the offense I could ever need from spamming inferno grenades and using the N7 Hurricane. I hate glass cannons and I prefer not to be glued to cover all of the time. I'm basically specialized in close range because I am a crap sniper. My strategy is not to be stupidy aggressive but more like hit and run. It has worked well through Gold but on Platinum not so much.

1) I like that the Krogans and Batarians have so much health, so are there any other Krogans and Batarians that I should try that can match the damage output of the Batarian Soldier? (besides the Krogan Soldier because he is basically the same)

2) Are there any close range characers that work really well on Platinum? I was thinking of trying which ever infiltrator has the most health and using the Reegar Carbine or something.

You should definitely try the krogan vanguard with incendiary reegar. Easy mode, super effective.

Using Cyclonics  gives you plenty of options . Geth Trooper is pretty solid on Platinum

RE: 1.
- Neither Krogans nor Batarians have dodge so you can find it quite difficult to deal with bosses if you are not experienced as most bosses have some sort of instakill(Banshees, Praetorians, etc).
-I personally do not use cover all that much, but instead I line of sight enemies unless absolutely needed to avoid incomming damage. When fighting certain classes as a Batarian, I will often try to position myself near a wall to fight so i can quickly get out of line of sight of enemies if I see they about to unload on me. If that is not possible I will stand in front of a cover position to avoid warp balls, atlas missiles, lasers, etc if I need to. Always try and pick a spot to fight that has strategic value.
-Mobility is everything you have to be willing to use hit and run tactics to whittle down the enemy numbers.
-Play with people on your friends list better than you as you will learn from them while watching after a death.
-Cyclonic 3 and 4s can make most characters(minus drell and vorcha) have high shields to deal with Plat damage so try not to necessarily focus on 'tankiness' as in Plat, if you take a lot of damage from various sources you are toast with any class(aside from Juggernaught).
- Bringing an Acolyte to deal with the numerous phantoms is really helpful for many kits/gun combos which have a hard time dealing with them. While you can kill phantoms with any kit/gun combo, on Platinum the main problem you have is time: You must be able to down enemies quickly to be effective or you will end up getting swarmed. Also, ammo can be a big concern for many guns and phantoms tend to do their flipping crap where they get a huge damage reduction(especially on host there is a bug where they are just beastly) so you have to shoot, wait for flippy animation, shoot again, wait for flippy, etc and during this time other enemies are closing in on you.
-Send Hurkaleez a friend request(me) and I will help you out.

RE: #2
- Definitely. Any Flamer, AIU/Reegar( or even Grenade/shotgun combo is quite viable. 'Close Range' classes do find it more difficult on some maps(as do long range on others) where you have snipers on your team who can drop half the enemies before they get to a safe spot for you to fight from which will prompt you to push your luck and fight in less than ideal spots/situations. Sure there are others I am forgetting but I am tired of typing now.
- Any kit is viable on Platinum so make sure to phrase your question 'Easiest kits to use' and the answer is grab a Reegar and the AIU until you get the hang of it. Once you get some skill do not use the AIU/Reegar combo as it is the biggest crutch in the game and its pathetic to see players with 30k-100k scores only able to do well with that because they never learned how to play. No shame in using any combo/kit though while you are learning and getting the feel for things.

Hope this helped.

N7 Fury is a very good character to enter platinum with (Assuming you understand how to create explosions effectively)

Also, The Vorcha Sentinel, Geth Trooper, And Geth Juggernaut(Lol)

Are good ways to enter platinum mode effectively.

I started platinum mode using the n7 fury and put in work !! Lol

Take the Geth Juggernaut specced into Heavy Melee Drain and as much health/shields as you can get. Set the match to Rio/Reapers.

Move your slow bulk to the other side of the map, where there is a crate you can fit inside. Hide in there until the enemies come. Then heavy melee them all one by one.

Once you're comfortable with that, you take the AIU, equip her with a reegar and incendiary ammo. Then you change the settings to Giant/Geth. Don't forget you always have to host with her as well.

Finally you're ready to switch to the TGI with a Harrier. Only then can you switch it to U/U, but if you get a hazard map you should immediately quit.

PS: I'm going to hell for this post.

Batarian Adept with warp ammo. I skip Lash on him and just Warp -> Claymore -> Grenade all things. Well, all things that aren't dead after the Claymore step.

Platinum brutes are usually dead after the grenade if you were close enough/had good aim. A sliver of health oif not all pellets hit. Top bosses like banshees require a follow-up shot or two. Phantoms are pretty simple - shotgun blast to send them flipping, then Warp on their flipping selves, then shotgun again. Reload cancel is your friend.

Claymore with Smart Choke is a pretty solid mid to long range gun. No need for a sidearm.

Mkay.
Adas Tsol with full fitness and full rof marksman. Slap on cyclonics III-IV or adrenaline modes. Slap on warp/incendiary ammo 4, AR amp, assault loadout. Go to town. Walk with trigger being held and look at the general direction of enemy. Easy to break 200k with dat setup.

The batarian slasher is an excellent contender for plat,
I run this,
You have mighty high damage output, even if you use other weapons,
Lash is the best anti-phantom power in the game, and is great for sorting out hunters and the like as well,
shotgun Warp shotgun grenade with disruptor rounds creates both 2 tech bursts and a biotic explosion, which ruins all types of defense
I run melee because I am comfortable with reduced health when able to fend off infantry, bosses are relatively easy to avoid, and this kit can absolutely demolish them

This, is a modified variation with less grenades, but much higher damage capabilities, the CG 5b combo normally only effects the first grenade, but if you cover warp with disruptor ammo it triggers on both, which is absolutely massive damage
Iy also has a more accessible weapon for if you don't have high level URs

Prolly too many solo attempts lately.  On the other hand, I proved today that practicing soloing Platinum with no medigels or ops does indeed train you to solo Gold successfully.  Well, twice so far.  Playing with a good team helps see the spawn patterns, too.

So you go into team games without any gel whatsoever? Never heard of a jumbo pack? Didn't ask for your life story btw.

Hmmmmmm well I will give the Krogan Vanguard, the Alliance Infiltration Unit, and the Volus characters a try. I'm not too fond of the flamer characters because they do not have quite enough health for me and I do not have that many shield boost things. Also the Juggernaut is just too slow at killing things IMO.
