Learn to use soft cover. That's all

As it was said before, stick to soft cover instead of hard cover. That can save you a lot of trouble. Know your limits as you don't have a dodge and for the love of Patches the Elf use something heavier on those characters. Derpicane is fine but you should be investing in something heavier that punishes mooks more, such as the claymore.

Random character with the Reegar is a beast. You just need AP ammo and cyclonic. Maybe equip another weapon just in case (Hurricane/Talon/CSMG).
Fixed a bit:whistle:

Personally I would avoid the Reegar, as it can teach you bad tendencies and break the game for you in a bad way. You can become so scrubby that you only use the Reegar and blither idiotic things about Thunderdome, babies, and other nonsense.

Volus are the tankiest characters in the game, just so that you know.
They don't call them "The Balls of Steel" for nothing.

Even more with the batguard. His weapon passive make a huge difference. Armor blade can stun most enemies and grant damage reduction. Charge put you in range and restore your shield.
It is a very tanky character and easy to use. This guy seems to be made for the Reegar Carabine.
You just have to charge and shoot. I agree, it isn't the most funny way to play, but it is effective.

I would also recommend Asari Valkyrie and Geth Trooper Weapons Build.

That is a good build and he can take a lot of damage. Using the biotic charge to instantly recharge your shields is very addictive. This works best on Geth primes because you can stay in their face and just keep charging. Also works great for Banshees on a ramp where they can't sync kill.
But, for multiple Phantoms on Platimum it's better to run for cover.

I have just started playing on Platinum and I am fairly good at it but I am not doing particularly well.
The single character that I have settled on is the Batarian Soldier. I like him because he is very balanced. I have double the health of most characters if you include the damage reduction I get from using the blade armor. I also have all the offense I could ever need from spamming inferno grenades and using the N7 Hurricane. I hate glass cannons and I prefer not to be glued to cover all of the time. I'm basically specialized in close range because I am a crap sniper. My strategy is not to be stupidy aggressive but more like hit and run. It has worked well through Gold but on Platinum not so much.
1) I like that the Krogans and Batarians have so much health, so are there any other Krogans and Batarians that I should try that can match the damage output of the Batarian Soldier? (besides the Krogan Soldier because he is basically the same)
2) Are there any close range characers that work really well on Platinum? I was thinking of trying which ever infiltrator has the most health and using the Reegar Carbine or something.
1) Krogan Shaman will surpass the BatSol's weapon damage output (unless you're an adherent of the incendiary glitch). It won't neccessarily match it in terms of AoE damage, not a lot does. Inferno Grenades are pretty disgusting. However it does respectable damage and has good health. KroSent and BatDept will also do well though LIft Grenades can be finicky to use and BatDept lack of Blade Armour won't give as much health as the BatSol. Once you get more used to Platinum the Warlord is a great choice. Very fun, decent damage and great health, though you need to have enough experience of spawns and enemy placements to stay out in the open without fear of being pummeled by Scion grenades...and enough situational awareness and knowledge of sync kills to avoid them.
2) Drells, Quarian Males and Geth are all subsets of characters that are great on Platinum. Though the Drell may be a little too squishy to learn Plat with. Fury is also good though it tends to become more mid-range vs. boss units. Any of the Infiltrators will do fine as will the aforementioned classes in the first answer. Destroyer, TSol, HSol and Quarksman are all very good as well. Though the Turian Soldier might be a little too slow at times without using an Adrenaline, at which point he can become a bit too squishy for newer platinum players.

So you go into team games without any gel whatsoever? Never heard of a jumbo pack? Didn't ask for your life story btw.Aquaman 40oz wrote...

Is the down button on your D-Pad broken?
Prolly too many solo attempts lately. On the other hand, I proved today that practicing soloing Platinum with no medigels or ops does indeed train you to solo Gold successfully. Well, twice so far. Playing with a good team helps see the spawn patterns, too.
No,.. I get heckled in team games for self-reviving when there is someone right there, and are you now hassling me for not self-reviving in a game? When did we even play together? Does this discussion even belong in this thread?

We certainly did, and you bled out 3 times in 4 waves. I left one Scion alive and then quit when you all bled out on wave 4. I dropped into another on-going game on wave 1, and you'd bled out too. Seems like your thing.Aquaman 40oz wrote...

There is no reason to waste medigel gefore wave five. If you can't carry the first few waves on Gold down one player or even by yourself, it's not anyone else's fault.
