The Water Dragon from Jade Empire. I just couldn't stand the holier than thou attitude. Apparently humans are disgusting and evil if they resort to drastic measures to save themselves and their loved ones. Yes, killing the Water Dragon was pretty extreme but it didn't leave them much choice... it was either that or die. But apparently they should have just rolled over and died because a god is always right and it goes against the "natural order". Right :?. And of course you have no choice but to put the fate of the Empire back in its' hands otherwise you are completely evil and the game will go to great lengths to tell you how evil you are. I'm sure things will go so much smoother the next time it decides that the Empire needs to be deprived of water.

I am not a big fan of Shadow The Hedgehog.Don't get the point on a dark version of Sonic, when Sonic isn't exactly squeaky clean in the first place.

I assume Radovid of Redania wasn't a character that you were supposed to hate in TW2 but I do. He's such a bastard, he can't let go of the fact that his father was killed by some mage and so condemns all of them if you decide not to slaughter the Nilfgaardians. Then he also gave power to the Order of the Flaming Rose, a bunch of fanatical mage haters, who tried to screw over Temeria and he's using them as his private army.

I'm pretty sure he's playing an important part in TW3, since he's the only king who can't be killed. I think he has too much power, at least Henselt is honest about what he truly wants.

Jowy Atreides from Suikoden II. What an idiot. Yes, try to assassinate your friend at a peace conference that would've ended the war, but keep the war going because of your idiocy.

****ing Tel from the Infinity Blade Universe.

Oh master I constantly wipe your memories as your eviled past immortal self told me too., how may I help you.

What was I like as a immortal evil bastard.

I can't tell you that. Orders!

But I am that bastard.

Not anymore!

You think that's annoying? Actually know, it apocolyptic! Cause if Tel had told dear Siris about everything, he would have never freed the Worker beginning the end of all things!

He's at fault. THE ****ING fault, and he dares to talk in that robotic slow 'innocnent' voice when you remember some lost memories: Dude your not C3PO.

I mean, argh. Design of him is interesting, but man Tel pisses me off.

Tali her romance completely derailed her species and her character. While her getting with Garrus is cute the Shepard mance makes me wanna bash my head against a wall. So many noes in a series of noes.

The Quarians as a species just make me wat in so many ways.

Liara's constant torch holding is pretty creepy and sad as well.

Ashley is...Ashley.

Near from Death Note. Screw that bastard. Pulling a perfectly copied notebook out his ass (There's no way he didn't cheat and use the DN I refuse to believe the level of BS logic necessary otherwise) and being a cheap knockoff of L did him no favors. As annoying Mello and the red head dude were at least they weren't knockoffs.

Agreed.

I mean the sheer level of arrogance was pretty mindboggling. Taking her power was the best part in the game.

What I don't get is why if you're good she decides not to be a complete douchecanoe and give the empire water. That just smacks of trying to not have good players decisions smack them in the face.

Daryl from the Walking Dead. The dude is just a walking crossbow (made of cardboard).

He's a boring, static character that has an admittedly awesome weapon (whose novelty wore off awhile ago). Some people love the guy. I think he receives far too much screen time, but with so little pay off. His personal storyline has gone nowhere.

Coincidentally, he isn't from the eponymous comic series (which I don't read, but know the plot of).

The Water Dragon? Congrats to the Monk for throwing the rest of the world in a drought, but hey, the Empire is safe!

MevenSelas, read the comics, many characters who I read suck in the show are quite good there.

Bioware dropped the ball. The whole point of the conflict was about letting the Jade Empire die as part of the natural order of things. They gave up on that right at the end and made the whole theme up to that point wonky.

I happen to really like both characters a lot!

I think I understand why a lot of people don't like Samara.
She seems a little cold.
She lives by a strict code which to some is daft.
She seems to put the code ahead of her duties as a parent.
Nevertheless I really loved Samara as a character. An exciting Holy Paladin type character in space.

Samantha Traynor. Nope. I'm baffled.
She is an interesting character. I like the way she deals with situations.
I love her interactions with Commander Shepard.
Nice quirks, lovable personality and an amazing member of the Normandy Crew.
Though the shower scene was just cheesy.

Personally I really like Oghren.

I think I understand why you don't like this character. Emphasis on "I think".

He is basically Gimli from Lord of The Rings. Copy and paste.
Heck he sounds so much like Gimli that if they replaced Steve Blum with John Rhys-Davies I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

He is a drunken, Dwarven warrior stereotype. Rather than having a new character that bucks Dwarven stereotypes, they created a character that embraced them.

Dwarven stereotypes are fun. Personally I preferred Varric from Dragon Age 2.
Varric seemed more like a character than just another carbon copy of Gimli.

Don't understand how you can hate any character from Skyrim.
I was indifferent to every Skyrim character. J'zargo and Parrthurnax being exceptions.

You know what? The townsfolk you find in the 9 main towns (they are not cities even though they are called "cities". They are towns), are far more interesting.

Why am I indifferent to the Blades. They don't have much in the way of personalities.
You find out nothing about them.
All they do is blurt out exposition.
Exposition doesn't make a character.

Haven't played that game. Though I hear the game is amazing.
People keep telling me that The Witcher has the best combat, graphics, characters, story of all time and best consequences for your actions. Heck the developers went back to Witcher 2 just to add more endings.
According to BSN, if Bioware wants to make a good RPG, they should just copy The Witcher series word for word, script for script, pixel for pixel, mechanic for mechanic.

I feel like I'm missing out on the best game in human history bar none. That is how hyped Witcher series is.

  • Falco

Falco is surley, annoying and thinks he's better than you.

Well Falco is the most proficient of the wingmen.  I remember when I first played Lylat Wars on the N64, he actually killed more enemies than I did, whilst Peppy and Toad did nothing. I soon learnt the ropes. When I did finally start beating missions, Falco was the one who pulled me through those difficult missions. Peppy and Toad were useless.

Peppy kept telling me to perform an aileron roll (it's not a barrel roll folks).
Toad kept dying, getting captured, screaming, dying, complaining, panicking etc...

Falco is of Fox's three wingmen the most bearable. He seems more like that character from Top Gun that Tom Cruise hates but eventually grows to love.

That said, Falco's attitude does leave a lot to be desired.

I don't hate any of the characters. I just find Peppy and Toad annoying. Falco is also annoying but not to the extent of the other two.

  • Merril

So many people strongly dislike Merril.
Okay, okay, okay. I'll let you use your hyperbole. You hate her, even though you probably just strongly dislike her.
I use exaggerations all the time. I understand that love really means "strongly like" and hate really means "strongly dislike".

I really like her as a character. She's cute, naïve and a little bit daft. She will get you into trouble and even get her entire clan killed by her foolishness.
I really like her voice too.
Eve Myles is an amazing actress. She also voiced my favorite character from Torchwood.

That said, I probably like this character for the same reasons you don't.
A character who can accidently create trouble for the protagonist is one of my favorite character types. I find them very interesting to look at and analyse.

In a video game, I want trouble to come my way. Any character who brings me trouble is right up my alley.:wizard:

Yes, really, when Project Purity went critical and one of us had to go in, he told me right to my face that he could have went in there and entered the code so that neither Sarah nor I would have to die, at no cost to himslf, but that he didn't want to. I should have left that bellend in his cell.

I don't know where to start on Samara, first there's the part where it seemed that if Shepard hadn't shown up just in time, she would have murdered an innocent policewoman, just so that she can get to her daughter. And even if you do help her get to her daughter, who was arguably less of a threat to the Galaxy than Samara herself, she still has the gall to tell Shepard that she's going to kill him if he's renegade.
As for Samantha, I didn't hate her as much as Samara, but it really Irked me how she ripped all of the cables out of my ceiling, took out half the lights, filled my room with empty boxes, stole all my model ships and scattered them across the Normandy, and she's still cheeky enough to call the changes that she made "improvements."

Exactly, I barely even know these assclowns, who are they to demand that I murder Parrthurnax? Forget J'zargo though, Cicero was the most interesting character in the game.

As much fun as troublemakers can be for the player, they aren't any fun for the protagonist, and in RPGs I feel obliged to at least *pretend* I don't want the PC to suffer. My problem with Merril is that my Hawke could tell that she was a timebomb long before she came with Hawke back to Kirkwall, and when the Keeper told me that Merril was my problem now, there was no way to tell her no. I only promised Flemeth that I'd bring them her magic locket, not to babysit the town's bloodmage pariah.

@bobobo,
You're mad at Samara, because she wants her dangerous daughter to die!

Fawkes the mutant was the only companion I found in FO3!

I think Witcher must be full of despicable people.

Zevran... I've dismissed that claim by executing him after his first contact.
