The closest to hate that springs to mind is Minsc from the Baldur's Gate series. Poorest comic relief ever.

*edit* actually, now that I think about it, the closest I come to hate is pretty much all things Pokemon. Man, I can't stand that crap. But, alas, my kids love it.

Auron completely made that game. If I replay the HD remake coming out, its purely because of him.

FFXII had the same problem but moreso. Everyone in your group felt like they should have been the main character except the one that was. Balthier, Ashe and Basch all were great leads but weren't. Panelo was the only one on the team who Vaan felt more like a lead over. (True story: Basch really was originally the lead)

lol, I know exactly what you mean. Yes same here willing to play the HD version only because of Auron. lolol, yea Vann was another one but I hated him a little less than Tidus ( emphases on : hated him a little less ) Basch, Ashe or Panelo would have been a far better choice of protagonist I think.

I was having trouble thinking of a character that I didn't like untill you mentioned his name.  He was very lame, IMO.

Oghren... I truly cannot stand this character. I never used him in either game. His voice alone was... painful. Nothing he did was funny (but it was supposed to be, and everybody adores him, hence he qualifies for this list).

Severus Snape... He's not a hero who did it all for love; he's an obsessed creeper who would have gone to the Dark Side save for the fact that the married woman he crushed on was in danger. So he flips to the other side, willy nilly. Then proceeds to bully said married woman's only child every chance he gets. I don't get why people love him, other than that he's played by Mr. Hottie Alan Rickman in the movies.

Gollum and Samwise Gamgee... I mention both of these little twerps at once because technically they are both hobbits, and I pretty much hit fastforward every time they show up on screen. People love Gollum (thanks to Andy Serkis' awesomeness) and Peter Jackson loves Gollum, as evidenced by the immense amount of time spent on THAT SCENE in The Hobbit (not to mention his various solo scenes in LOTR), so he definitely qualifies. Sam, I don't know if anyone out there truly loves Sam. Maybe he doesn't belong on this list. *kicks the fat hobbit*

Oghren for me as well. Proof that we aren't supposed to hate him: he's difficult to drive out of the party in DAO, and if you manage it before meeting Branka, he comes back as a ghost (no party slot) when you do meet Branka. Oh, and he replaces the more likeable M'hari gal in the expansion, which made me rage.

Morrigan annoys me as well because she complains about everything. The maker of the Slap Morrigan mod apparently agrees. When I do keep her in camp, she never travels with my select group.

Grobnar Gnomehands (NWN2) supposed to be a funny gnome but I cringe every time he opens his mouth.

Claptrap also makes me cringe due to voice and delivery. Ugh, just shut up already!

Funny someone mentioned Minsc; he gets annoying after a few minutes, much like that talking sword Lilarcor, though the sword is entertaining during combat.

It was one of the few games I've played that I've felt too old for. That cast was just not my thing, but I managed to enjoy the game regardless. It's a time sink, which was what I was looking for when I bought it.

Aeris from FFVII. I was mostly indifferent to her on my first playthrough but all the hype about her on the net has made me hate her with every fibre of my being.

Tidus from FFX. Vaan from FFXII. Almost everyone from FFXIII ( I like Sazh and Fang ).

Leon Kennedy from the Resident a Evil series.

Raider from the MGS series. Like everyone else I hated him in MGS2 however unlike the rest of you I still hate him now that he has got his bad ass ninja make over ( it feels like Kohima worked to hard to polish that turd into something presentable, most of you lapped it up but to me it's just a shiny turd ).

Tail from the ME series. Actually I have confession to make, I like Tali, her fan base on the other hand has made me very weary of the character although in their defence they seemed to tone down all the crazy after ME3 came out, maybe it's time to take off the list.

I do however HATE Liara. I took a distant dislike to her in ME1 and it just got worse as the series progressed. ME3 was a breaking point to me, she was constantly shoved down my throat and I hated every single second where the game forced me to interact with her.

Going from Kenway to Connor was a bit of a let down. I must admit I did like Connor by the time I finished the game, but that good will was thwarted by the ending.

Liara - hate would be too strong, but I do dislike her and find her annoying. Leliana as well, since they fill the same innocent girl category.

Loghain - I guess we aren't exactly supposed to like him, but people do go on about how deep and grey his character is, whereas I still find him a plain villain who isn't worth it to be spared at the Landsmeet.
The prince who is apparently no prince at all suddenly in the weird overhauled Prince of Persia game.

You gotta give props to a guy who can transform into a dragon for one of his Fatalities. Is this based on his characterization in the latest game? I'd play through it again, but NetherRealm didn't add a replay option for the story mode.

EDIT: I was thinking Chapter Select. Sorry. The no-replay option is in MK vs. DC, though.

He's an insanely boring character. Especially compared to the other characters that have personality.

Hmm lets see, I really hate Daenerys Targaryen from ASOIAF, easily my least fav character.
I really hate Dandelion from The Witcher games though I don't know if i'm supposed to or not =/
I pretty much hate all the Assassin's of the Assassin's Creed series except for Edward Kenway...Especially hate Connor after killing someone as awesome as Haytham
