Hunter Mode Rank 6 - Speed / Vision or Damage ?

Good afternoon BSN,

I'd like your input on the title.

I normally select damage for rank 6, but, after reading quite a few posts, I'm starting to wonder if the other option is better.

Also, while we're at it, I see a lot of build skipping rank 6 on proxy mine. Is it so bad ? I never do.

Always go speed and vision.
Additive 10% of weapon damage versus 9 meters of vision range and 10 % of speed? It's not even a question.

Rank 6 on proxy (on GI) is almost always usless, unless:
1. You use it for ammo-primed combos, then it's theoretically somewhat usefull
2. You use JavGI and don't want to spend precious ammo on husks.

Just my opinion though...

Speed and vision. No such thing as too much speed or too much wallhax. The damage boost is not as important.

I usually only take PM for the area debuff so I rarely need the 6th rank.

I go damage, HM vision is too far in rank six for me, and proxy mine,you only need 5 for the debuff and still can stagger reliably, plus you might aswell take the 3 in fitness to get the shield recharge delay.

On HM: I'd say it depends on one's playstyle what they prefer. 15 percent damage makes a small difference, but better situational awareness is always nice. I'd say that the damage evo is more useful on CQC builds because enemies are in close range and you're constantly on the move anyway.

On PM: I generally don't take the sixth rank because I find that it does not make a huge difference as weapons are the main source of my damage output.

Definitely go for the speed and movement option, always, it makes a really big difference. It adds to your survivability and awareness.

You can skip rank 6 of proxy mine. The extra damage is actually quite nice, but it's not essential. The vital evolution is that 20% debuff on rank 5. Otherwise, you can put those 6 spare points into fitness.

I used to prefer damage but now I like vision/speed since my weapons are better.

I always go speed and vision, he does more than enough damage the extra damage on rank 6 isn't a good trade.

As for proxy mine, I put at least 5 in it, sometimes 6 depending on the build but the debuff and stagger are more important than the damage.

Gotta go fast. I pick damage all the time though, so I just go a little bit fast.

I may not outrun banshee, but banshee cannot outrun bullet.

I go with different evolutions on different units.

Geth Engineer & Infiltrator get speed and vision and the Trooper gets damage.

Speed and vision all the time, every time.

% Damage on HM is additive. You'll more than make up for that damage with extra speed, more awareness to where things are spawning so you can either avoid them or get to them and kill them.

The actual damage difference is at max around 200 per shot on the highest damage weapons. We're talking Claymore or Javalin here. The damage difference on PM is around 50. That translates into not a damn thing when you're talking TTK enemies in game with a GI.

Truth be told, I've never specced into speed and vision, since I always felt I saw plenty and ran fast enough. I never get blindsided with him so the issue to add it never came up. I always go damage. Vision may help a sniper build more, but I rarely snipe with him.

EDIT: Also for PM, I don't spec into rank 6. I don't use it to deal damage, I use it to stun and debuff. I'd rather have 3 ranks in fitness.

I prefer the speed and vision, the damage means nothing if I can't find the target and then get to it. I suppose if I keep my GI build as a sniper build all the time I'd go with damage to make the Javelin/BW even better, but I appreciate the awareness and utility that speed and vision offer more.

Are you a troll with a wizard brain or are you a wizard with a trolls brain?

The first half does not make sense- how can you not outrun a banshee? inb4 scrub that uses cyclonics on the GI instead of Adrenline mod.

The later part- spoken like a ture genius. :lol:

Speed and Vision always. Rushing spawns faster is so much better than 10% additive damage.

 True story this is the same exact way I spec the G.I , G.E , G.T.S every time.

This spreadsheet is a good representation of why I choose speed and vision.  Total time to kill is neglible between the choices and I prefer the speed and extra awareness distance.  This is based on Platinum.  TTK on lower difficulties is even less of a difference.
