Its amazing. That music, those character portraits, the spell effects, the environments... taking me back to BG2!

Stupidity is the last refuge of the incompetent

Why don't developers realize that there are millions of people waiting in the wings for games like this? Why did the entire industry move on, like they weren't creating some of the best games on the market? Mind boggling.

While the game is obviously shaping up to be a phenomenal success and a revilitization of the old isometric RPG genre via crowdfunding, I think it's premature to say that anywhere near a million people are waiting in the wings. I'm aware they collected something in the range of $4 million in backing but their kickstarter only shows 76,000 backers.
I think you'll see real interest if PE moves a million or so units once it releases (which would mean quite hefty profits) for this kind of development.
Also, keep in mind that Obsdian had this kind of crowdfunding success because of who they are as developers. A bunch of complete unknowns aren't likely to raise this capital, and there are lots of kickstarters for RPG like games that don't really go places.

Okay, you twisted that from Salvor Hardin, I just know it.
