Either female Elf or female Qunari. Female Elf was my DA:O choice, so it's a nice throwback, or female Qunari out of sheer curiosity. As for class, depends on how they do them in this game. Probably Rogue though.

Depending on the final character models:

Gender, always and without question: Female
Race: Dwarf (if satisfactory race/gender model). Human and Qunari in the backup.

I never play elves.

@the topic:
My first playthrough is rarely special. I usually take it as a prelude to the more serious ones.
What I'm going to play depends on how confident I am to get a character meaningful to me in my first playthrough (which didn't happen in any ME or DA game so far). If less, then it's a human female mage, as usual, since that's standard for me and it will be no problem seeing this one as an experimental throw-away character. I'll have another one eventually anyway. If more so, then a qunari female mage, which is likely the most exotic combination possible.

DA:O - Male, Dalish Elf, Rogue

DA:2 - Female, Human, Warrior

By the logic of a continuing pattern, then for the next game:

DA:I - Male, Dwarf, Mage.
However, a dwarf mage is almost certainly impossible (Sandal notwithstanding), so instead:

DA:I - Female, Elf, Mage.
(Dalish if possible - I really like the outside perspective that the Dalish have.)

Female elven rogue, I think, Ellin Levallan. I'm curious about playing as a qunari, though.

I play female in all of my saves.  This is my typical DA:O character.:

1) Human/rogue duelist/queen with Allistair with the Dark Ritual
2) Dalish/rogue archer/Leliana (hardened) romance/Allistar and Anora, also with the Dark Ritual.

What can I say?  Even when Allistar isn't a LI for my character, I still adore the goof.

In DA2, I was always female, as either a rogue or Force/Elemental mage.  I went for the Snark!Hawke mixed with the Angel!Hawke.

For Inquistion, I'll probably go with a Dalish elf origin, female. As for class, most likely going to be an archery rogue, as long as I don't have to steal companion trees to make it viable this time. Otherwise, probably a "dueler" or whatever equalivant is in DA: I.

Rogue is my usual default in most western RPGs like this, though I hated what happened to the archer in DA 2. Such a great class in DA: O and Awakenings, but not so great in DA2. The companion tree I stole via console cheats was Sebastian's, which made my archery get to where I felt it should be. He comes in pretty late, so might as well get some use out of him.

As an aside, Seb isn't bad, just redundant in most of my playthroughs. Varric and I usually take care of the ranged dps (with my Hawke as either a mage or an archer), and I feel Seb is a little too nice and more than a bit naive until the end of the game.

I would like to play a kossith mage,But I usually start with a rogue to get the hang of the game first.
I always play males unless I need an achievment only a female could get.

I always start with a human male mage to continue my legacy of canon mage playthrough. Probably gonna be a goody-two-shoes character. He would try to keep everyone alive and maintaining peace everywhere.
In my second playthrough, I would want to try a Qunari male warrior and troll everyone like Sten did.
In my third playthrough, I would try to play a female elf rogue. This will probably be my evil playthrough. She's probably gonna take her anger out on the world that wrong her.

human female mage, rogue used to be my fave class but since da2 mage just totally won me over, i'm always female, even if we get lame doom and gloom romances and less to chose from than a male protag, i did try to play a male but i abandoned it, its just not as easy for me to play men :(

1. Female Dwarf/Elf Rogue
2. Female Qunari Mage
3. Male Elf Mage

If warriors have dual wielding will be a big class choice for me on my 1st blind run

I was thinking about some kind of elven mage, but now I'm not so sure... at this point the only thing that's certain is male. I'll probably need to see what weapons and skills are available to make any class determination. Human or elf, though... I won't be changing my mind about that.

Race: Human or Qunari (male)
Class: Mage, maybe Warrior

:)

For my 2nd playthrough: Elven Rogue, female, fancies other females.

Human, and a mage. As for details like gender, skin color and orientation? I haven't decided yet. I'll likely go with something on the spot, based on the lore and story I have at my disposal on release. I like deciding on a character concept with the most information possible. I want things like gender, and the like, to factor into it, but I'd like story support for the character I create . . . so I have a better idea of who they are, where they stand in the world and how they'd react to various stimuli.

Originally, I was going to go with a Human Male Warrior (named Alec of course).

But now, I'm going with a Female Qunari (with the largest available horns), either a Mage or a Warrior, I'm still undecided on class and name.
