Confrontations from crew unity that I find cool to imagine:

James Vega and Jacob Taylor having different weapon opinions in the Hangar/Armory...

Kelly Chambers and Samantha Traynor bickering in the CIC for one thing or another... starting with who belongs on the right hand computer...

James Vega comparing muscle mass and things like that with Grunt in the Hangar/Armory...

Samara and Liara questioning each other's standards... or something... waddya think?

James Vega and Rupert Gardner arguing over what's for dinner/ who has the better recipe...

Ashley and Miranda having a confrontation over what exactly is "proper attire"...

Oh, and after inviting Miranda aboard the Normandy and getting a "yes" from her, as soon you go back on board yourself, you get summoned to the Mess Hall, and at the entrance of the XO cabin, you find Miranda with her bags having a confrontation with the cabin's new resident... you know who...

Zaeed and Diana Allers arguing over who sleeps in the cargo bay.... oh wait. no argument. I see a compromise.

I don't suppose any of you people can think of a cool/funny confrontation that Shepard can be forced to settle/resolve?

Let's stop beating around the bush.

The answer is very simple. Renegade players hate aliens and synthetics because BioWare told them to.

BioWare made it clear Renegade players are pro human. They obediently obeyed. Simple as that.

So because Bioware allowed players who wanted to be pro-human to be pro-human under the label of being a Renegade player, they forced players to be pro-human or Renegade?

Nobody is 'pro-human.' 'Pro-human' people are generally not interested in science fiction, or really much of anything besides meth and alcohol. Pro-humans are not going to buy and play a game that makes it overwhelmingly clear you play as a character who fights alongside aliens and can even have romantic relationships with them. Pro-human is a delusion.

Pro-human exists because BioWare made it exist.

You've got to be f---ing kidding me.

There could be some humor about how crowded the ship is getting and which group is the best Shepard squad; eventually the confrontations would break down into some meta-game humor in which the arguments start reflecting the debates on whether ME1 or ME2 is better.

That same Reaper that doesn't actually tell you anything new about the other Reapers?

Well, you have to remember that it takes half of the game to get one squadmember and 2/3s of the game to get another. Basically I only have 5 squadmates, 2 of them are Liara and EDI. So basically 3 squadmates for half of the game. Only so much replay value in that.

We're gonna need a bigger boat.

Anyway, the game would need to be extra long with lots more missions and plots to justify having so many characters, and that would just be way too diluted a story

I agree that it wouldn't have been feasible for the entire game. Or at least not without some of those characters having very little to say on the Normandy.

But I think they could have pulled it off by having your ME2 squaddies join for Priority: Earth. The end run should have been an ME2-style Suicide Mission with the entire surviving cast of squadmates, IMO.

This is true.  Ashley/Kaidan gets taken out in the first mission (post-earth) and doesn't return until halfway through the game, then Tali doesn't show up until the third act, as you said.  Depending on whether you have Javik or not, you only have 4 or 5 squad mates for the majority of the game.

The smaller squad size is more intimate and feels a bit more like Mass Effect 1, but with squadmates being pulled out here and held off there, the ship does feel a bit empty for most of the game, compared to the full boat you had in ME2.

Maybe that was an intentional choice, meant to contribute to the feelings of loss and isolation to suit those themes in the narrative, which is actually pretty clever if you think about it.

However, it doesn't excuse the handful of former squad mates whose post ME2 activities could only be described as thin, at best.

Ashley being out of my squad until after the Coup annoyed me. She's the only squadmate who can set up and detonate her own Tech Bursts AND Fire Explosions and my Vanguard abuses this to great effect, since it saves me having to risk myself to detonate them and it also balances my squad out since I normally take Liara or Javik, who can set up and detonate their own Biotic Combos, as my second squadmate and I give them squad Cryo Ammo which adds Cryo Explosions into the mix.

It's really jarring to suddenly lose her after ROFLstomping Cerberus with her and Liara on Mars, because you lose such a valuable squad member, no one else can do what she does. The most other squad members can do is either set up and detonate one or the either but not both, in the case of James with Fire Explosions, or they can only set up Tech Bursts and/or Fire Explosions, in the case of Kaidan, Garrus, EDI and Tali but they can't detonate their own.

I find it odd how BioWare would make Ashley, Javik, Liara and even James powerful enough to be Shepard replacers in that they can do everything themselves without your help what so ever but then make the rest of the squad completely reliant on you and other squadmates in order to do combos. I get it, team work is important, but some squadmates are completely superior to others. Either make them all powerful or none at all.

Actually no, I take that back, keep it as it is, I prefer Ashley this way lol
