Yeah, without LARP, ME3 is just a gears knockoff with spellcasting and an embarassingly bad story.

I don't think so because most of those characters would simply be ignored by me, just like in Mass Effect 2 where most of my crew felt like a cardboard cutout because they spread the squad members so thin. For me quality is more important then quantity.

What jack's doing matters, but it's not even close to the importance of Shepard's business. What are you smoking, spiosz? Wrex, Mordin, Tali, Legion, each has a role to play. Jack's just protecting a few kids, Jacob's ****ing around, and Miranda's trying to save one person. They all would have been more useful on the Normandy.

Jack finding herself and becoming a stronger version of herself is more important because it will help Shepard in the long run, that's why her business with her kids is a must and Shepard should realize this and RESPECT that decision on her part.

Also... they are not just "some kids".  What would Jack do exactly on the Normandy?  What would help her develop as a person (character)?

Personal growth does not outweigh saving the galaxy. Jack would do the same thing javik, garrus, tali, ash/kaiden, and james all do: participate in missions that make or break an entiere nation, or species. I.e. saving the geth, krogan, and quarians from extinction. Preventing the citadel from being taken by invading forces. Being big goddamn heroes.

Or did you forget about that stuff? What jack's doing is important... for her, and her kids, but her pesonal growth means jack-diddly (see what I did there) if their entire species is harvested!

Would you like to explain to me what your 'LARP' is like? Costumes? Foam guns? Like laser tag, maybe? Shot and you fall down?

Jack would have kicked A** on the Normandy. Give the kids to Sanders we got bigger fish (Like a galactic war) to fry. and OOOOOO!!! ummm Jack you were my Sheps LI umm you betta be on the Normandy. But in all seriousness Jack Miranda Zaheed Jacob Kasumi (well maybe not cause she went to Hackett but then again...) heck even Jacob who just stays at the hospital all day if not added to the Normandy should have been available for Priority Earth. Rather than have that communication scene have a selection area. and yeah it would have been short but you would at least have a lot of ME2 LI (maybe even Thane if you dont talk to him at all Kara-he gets killed in his place) their with you at the end and would have made a better wall scene at the end instead of having canned kaiden and Canned Liara at the wall. Talk about anticlimactic any way maybe ME 3.5 is in order.

It would've been cool if past squadmates approached Shepard and offered him assets. Then have missions based around that, instead of having to save all of them on their quests. That way you can have them on your crew for those missions.

I'm really starting to like the idea of this dynamic, multiracial war room. Fill it with ME2-style "eavesdrop" conversations which change depending on what happens in your game.

Finish the Tuchanka arc, and two Turians and a Salarian take up residence. Finish the Rannoch arc, and either two Quarians, one Quarian and one Geth platform, or one (larger) Geth show up in there. Sometimes they'll all be in the war room (where conversation is professional), sometimes one will appear in the mess hall (where they speak in more personal terms in regards to how things are going).

Kill a species over Rannoch, and when you step into the war room all conversation (including background "mumble") ceases and everyone silently stares (save for the Geth/Quarians present) in your direction for about twenty seconds before returning attention to their posts. Same, if you make peace but kill Wrex afterwards.
  •  Lose Krogan support, and one of the Turians can be heard talking about collapse on the front lines. Perhaps talk of tension in the ranks if Wreav is in charge of them.
  •  Kill the Quarians, and someone will talk about how the supply situation is critical or a colony couldn't be evacuated. Save them, and a Turian will talk back and forth with one, coordinating a supply run, then maybe converse in the mess hall after ("my family got airlifted out, I take back every evil thing I said about you" etc).
  •  Kill the Geth, and someone will talk about how the Turian and Alliance fleets have been spread thin. Save them, and there will be talk of pressure on the Turian fleet being relieved and additional ground troops, then an odd exchange in the mess hall with the platform insisting it doesn't require "down time."
  •  An Asari or two appearing after the coup attempt, perhaps a conversation after the Monastery mission, condolences after Thessia, that kind of thing.
Really, it'd probably be only ten or fifteen brief little conversations spread out over the entire game. My kingdom for an unlimited word budget...

I'm happy with the squad we got, it has my LI(Ashley), my best friend(Garrus), my bros(Javik, James), my shrink(Liara), my LI's BFF and my best friends GF(Tali) and Pinocchio(EDI). For the first time since ME1, I actually like everyone in the squad, Bioware did good in my eyes.

The ME2 squad, except for Mordin, Legion and Zaeed , can GTFO.

I could even see the Geth platform having to go through the scanner room at one point, and repeatedly setting off the alarm a la Spinal Tap. :P

No. Almost all of them would have spent the entire war sitting around on the Normandy, twiddling their thumbs. I have enough trouble justifying why Javik and James did that, let alone another 13.

And how in the world are Morinth/Samara and Ashley/Kaidan alive at the same time anyway?

A big crew like that is only great on a larger ship with many of them actively walking around, doing things etc and I can send them out to do their own missions when needed and take more than just two for some of my own missions.

Not really OP. Everyone from ME1 is off the crew in my opinion. Subtract Morinth, Mordin, Legion, Thane, Jack, Samara, Grunt, and EDI as well.

I'd have liked having more OC's that weren't a part of the alliance and were independent and had dark backgrounds.

Kirrahe would've been cool to have (or a Salarian operative), as well as a Batarian. I'd have Miranda, Jacob, James, and Javik as well. I suppose Kasumi or Zaeed would be the seventh character. Otherwise, give me the ability to dictate what all the squadmates do, whether they live or die, and whether they have good or bad relations with my Shepard, as well as being able to dictate my Shepard's actual attitude about everything. I'd like less action and more RP in my games.

I'm with Deinon on the conversations idea. It's too alliance-centric as it is in the game.

I wonder what David has to say about this. That players 'can't and shouldn't be able to define heroism?'

Well, Playstation also has Uncharted and Killzone.

Also, GoW is God of War. You totally have a GoW as well as us Xbox people.

I guess the issue with introducing a lot of original characters is how to properly introduce them should the characters they replace are gone because of certain choices that lead to their deaths or abandonment, not to mention the resources necessary to produce all of these characters on top of the ones they may substitute.

Gears of War seems to be a more appropriate comparison, since God of War is nothing like Mass Effect at all. In any case, I really hate God of War.

I'd rather not summon him...

But yeah, re: conversations, it'd have been nice if there were more reaction to the resolution of these major plot arcs than an emotionless news bulletin on the Citadel. "After defeating the _____, the ______ have done _____."

Somehow, I'd think Shepard ending a thousand year plague or a 300-year conflict in twenty words or less would be bigger news. Have an effect on backdrop conversation. That sort of thing. I liked the idea of running across a stranded Quarian pilgrim in bay E24 who is either groveling in thanks, apprehensive about peace, or furiously confronts you (takes off his mask and demands you look him in the eye and answer him) over the conclusion of that particular arc.

My ME3 crew is: Miranda, Tali, Garrus, Vega, Liara, Javik.

So basically swap Miranda for EDI. EDI should have stayed as a ship. I found her relationship with Joker more interesting that way. Ashley/Kaidan stay with the Council to protect them as a Spectre.
