i lol at your statement, never said i hated wrex, i liked him a lot. Just didn't think he had more of a reason for joining Shepard than Tali did.

While this is true, I think that Wrex's character was much deeper, which made him more interesting. Tali was just a bore.

Just speaking in degrees.  There are mild extremes of hate, like people who go out and shout their vitriol on the streets or in mixed company like a mental patient...and some get radio shows.  There are mid-range, who take the exta step to join an organization and wear their white sheets as a costume.  And there are those that enjoy tying homosexuals to moving vehicles or blowing up abortion centers. 

By the same token, there can be equally harmful degrees of acceptance, leading to those who never question authority, permit their rights to be stripped away, or blind themselves to the future for love of the present.

But if I were angry in my posts, it would have been worded much differently.  I'm more amused by this thread than anything.  A thread full of story spoilers...that might be worthy of some decent emotion.  But a character hate thread?  It's mostly just cute in its backwardness and desperation.

No problems with people disliking Tali.  I don't even mind a little joke or jab now and again.  Heaven knows I like to tease about Miranda.  But some of the people here go out of their way to make their hatred known and to express extreme dislike for both a fictional character and its fans.  And that's seriously devoting far too much time to their hatred to be productive or healthy.

Ok, I see what the OP is saying about Tali being bland and what not. I honestly wasn't the most fond of her...but she is a part of my ME1 crew, as is everyone else except for Kaidan ( poor guy), and I would do anything for them. I see Tali as more of a companion than anything....a friend, and nothing more. I honestly think that most of the people craving for a "Talimance" just want to see what she looks like underneath...



And honestly, it really isn't that fair...I think that the romance with her is unjustified to be honest, and before all of the Tali love fans get riled up, really think about it. Humans ARE different from Quarians, and there genetic structure and immune systems ARE different from eachother.





If you guys didn't speak up during the making of Mass Effect 2, then Tali would be nothing more than a friend....Bioware really went out on a limb for you guys haha.

Tali was boring, it was interesting in my first play-through to learn about the quarians and the geth, but then it just got boring. The ONLY reason she's in my top two favorite characters is because she can open "hardened" things that require electronic skills and "hardened" decryption skill, all while being handy with a shotgun. Unlike Garrus who was also interesting but kept on dying on me. And to the OP, I'm still sane simply because I just lurk and don't post much.

When I say, "I hate subject zero", I'm almost admitting she is a good character. I acknowledge that SuZe is an interesting character, its just that her attitude doesn't fit mine.

However, when I say that I hate Tali, I mean something completely different. I think the character Tali is so freakin' pointless. I don't mind the Quarians, but Tali makes me angry. It makes me angry that she of all people was brought back to the team. 

What baffles me even further is people who want an LI for this freak? Or even worse, FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?! He is a weird humanoid thing with 3 webbed toes and 3 long weird fingers. Not to mention she wears a gigantic robot mask. How can anyone claim her cute? Its kind of scary TBH.

Maybe I should be happy she was added to your squad in Mass Effect 2. Now I can kill her. 

I have to say, although I'm not in to this whole Tali love (I'll stick with humans only and avoid that whole bestiality thing )  I think she's cool.

She's an Engineer.  I'm going into Civil and Mechanical Engineering.  We'd be good friends.

I dislike her because I think that her character is bland, uninteresting, and thus, boring. It's not that I dislike her character's beliefs, I don't like the writing that went into the character. As someone else stated, she is only there to be a walking Quarian codex.

Alright: I'm a first time poster, so I hope I don't step on too many toes.



My problem with Tali was that she was introduced as a plot device, and, in my opinion, never really moved beyond that. Shepard needed evidence to make the Council believe that Saren was rogue, and Tali just happened to have that evidence. This, to me, is very convenient. In that case, Benezia and Saren had to be dumb enough to give their villain exposition that incriminates them and gives their objective within earshot of a random geth (notwithstanding the fact that they would never have needed to say this aloud to each other because clearly both of them would have known that "Eden Prime was a major victory"). Then, said random geth ended up in a location that was safe enough for a young Quarian to lure it away and disable it, find the information, and realize its importance.



That seems a little contrived. And, after all that, I never really learn much about her. I learn all about the Quarians and the Geth, but I could say maybe three things about Tali herself.



This is just my reasoning. She might be more interesting than I'm aware of, as I played an engineer and didn't need her in my squad. I'm very interested to see what people have to say about her after ME2 comes out.

I love Tali she contribute much to my missions. So, no I don't hate her. I think she plays a large role in Mass Effect. Hence, the Geth plays a large role in the trilogy. I would love to spend some time in the flotilla.

I am a very big fan of Tali though I do have to admit she WAS the walking codex. I mostly enjoyed her banter on the missions and that pleasing accent and attitude. I can see how she would be boring to others though.

Delurking long enough to remark that I'd figured people would eventually learn how to ignore internet faux-trolling, but I suppose not! If someone posts an arguement online, then someone responds, and then it immediately turns into ribs about spelling errors, smug pats on the head and other nonsense you should probably recognize what the situation is.



That being said, I myself like Tali; she's pretty much adorable. But that's almost entirely the result of the voice work. Frankly, I agree with what a lot of others have said in that she doesn't have all that much to contribute to the story outside of being an early deus ex quarian, and she doesn't really interact with another character in any truely meaningful way.



Which is why it's great she's back. Now we see her interacting with her own people, and she seems to have a portion of the story actually devoted to her at the Flotilla. Adorable was enough to get through one game, now she'll hopefully get some real substantial story time.
