However, when I say that I hate Tali, I mean something completely different. I think the character Tali is so freakin' pointless. I don't mind the Quarians, but Tali makes me angry. Any other Quarian squad member would have been perfect. She is just uninteresting and unimportant in Mass Effect 1, and has next to no tie with the story (other than giving you Saren's evidence). It makes me angry that she of all people was brought back to the team.

Yet Wrex a bounty hunter who has no reason or story tie in in ME 1 or ME 2 follows you in ME 1 and makes an appearance in ME 2.

Kaiden no useful story tie in or background no reason to be left on a highly classified mission to take out a rogue specter in ME 1 apparently more worthy -.- add to that he's a tool in ME 2 such a great and mighty character

Garrus Bad ass cop who doesn't like the rules, Knows there is something more about saren can't find the evidence with out shepards help though...display of incompetence for being the galaxies finest. constantly whines about regs and having to follow them again no real reason to follow to capture/kill saren aside from "you havae to work outside the rules sometimes" re-appears in ME 2 more BA still a vigilante and a pretty bad turian by Turian culture as that goes. his side mission doesn't even have any potential long term effects in either game add to that he's also a love interest -3 fingers and 3 toes with chicken legs and no part of his body remotely human- is apparently much better than tali.

Liara plain moderately boring monogendered alien species with psychic powers who actually ties in to the plot with her research and paraentage and can be just as combat effective as wrex can.<-----only reasonable ME 1 Party member returns as a tool in ME 2 romanceable in ME 1 could've mind raped you 2 times we don't know nto creepy at all apparently

Ashley watched her squad die, essentially a fofot soldier like kaiden lacks special abilities, why the bojangles is she on the normandy aside to be reassigned? -.- moderately specieist love interest soo much better than tali? she's a 2d character who becomes a bigger tool in ME 2.

Tali-6th party member Creator race of the geth primary enemy in ME 1
considered a genius by her people, Finds evidence that gets you to
specter status and is willing to assist you in return for aid on her
pilgrimage...meant to be used as a tech specialist in gameplay in ME
1....How is she useless? returns in ME 2 with a side quest involving geth experiments not only that but has 1 other plot related showing and is aalready known to be a technological asset from ME 1 useless in ME 2 how?

Jack- why are you picking up a mentally unstable heavy biotic using prisner from a prison barge ran by a gang at the request of cerberus? no relevant side mission to plot (i don't view loyalty as plot invincibility perk yes plot no)

Grunt-lets face it it's a wrex knock off intersting but not really plot affecting includes his side quest.

Thane-alien love interest kinda creepy emo lizard guy trained by jellies -.- no relevant plot reason to be there especially when he's dying and has a kid around still(apparently not alame father or character)

Samara-Jedi ---End star wars rip off rant here before i begin.

Legion-Geth moderately amusing get him too late in the game to actually be too interesting, fun character side quest potentially plot affecting in ME 3

Mordin-Plot effecting on Omega Plot affected reason fror being part of the crew and plot affecting side quest in refrence to the genophage.(1 of 6 Valid ME 2 party members)

Zaeed- Lame duck DLC content no intersting dialogue selfish sadistic dinglejohn No valid reason for being around.

Joker Awesome pilot nuff said.

Tali -Valid ME 2 character + extra validity from numero uno
Fem Carth 1 -valid though fail
carth 2.5 -valid though fail
Mordin -Valid and Awesome
Legion -Valid + win
Joker -valid+comedy gold.


Now How is Tali invalid as an ME character at all now That's Right Shot Down liek teh Bojangler Troll you are!

What baffles me even further is people who want an LI for this freak? Or even worse, FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?! He is a weird humanoid thing with 3 webbed toes and 3 long weird fingers. Not to mention she wears a gigantic robot mask. How can anyone claim her cute? Its kind of scary TBH.

yes but Thane, Garrus, weird aliens that can mentally rape you with out you knowing and seeing a thread on legion as an LI is not creepy at all pish posh what was i thinking

Carth was in KOTOR.

Minsc was the BG character.

...people compare him as the psuedo-soldier/loyal friend of the player-character.  Which is what Jacob apparently represents in ME2.

I love Tali and I started smiling like a 8 year old at Christmas the first time she popped onto the screen.

Jacob was not very whiny.  Just a tad boring.

Also, Tali is awesome.

Why does Tali get a pass for crying over her father in your book?  Why isn't she whiny and annoying then?  It just makes no sense.

I loved them all but if I had to pick one it would be Grunt. I understand why he is the way he is but he is still just so one dimensoinal. He was like the Hulk walk around " Me angry Me smash" and there was nothing other then that

point taken but he's so consumed with that he doens't trust a dog, Quite literally if he had a dog it's hose would be filled with montoring devices and he'd have a little red button prepped to blow it sky high. He's just too polar for me. most people i talk to agree that he is not the best thought out character and is too whiny in a pitty me fashion. It's not like all telosians were killed and his son survived. so he could've been hopeful or pumped iwth righteous furry not driven by his sorrowful revenge while fighting the sith.

tali gets a pass because she's sad for a whole scene not a whole game and she had already been a far more useful character in ME 1 than carth in KoTOR- he gained 1 skill point every level couldn't learn a whole lot aside from better health care and awareness. not much fun Tali got skill points for alot of stuff and you couldl make her pretty widely useful the only problem being how well she tanked (meaning she dies too quickly in ME 1) ME 2 she manages to have a muich more interesting story and her fathers death was pulled off in a very nice dramatic format not like how telos was leveled by combined Sith interdictor fire.

A Single death related to a familar character is a little more touching than a Masacre shared by millions and a Soldier whining about it.

She got what she deserved exiled and an escort off the Normandy 2 since the quarian are a ripoff of BSG.

Tali is the most over rated character in Mess Effect and Mass Effect 2. Yeah her story got a whole lot less boring in Mass Effect 2 but she is still usless in a fight. Her drone sucks, her powers suck, she just sucks.

Bioware did an excellent job with her fathers death. and a small classified research vessel on wich we find what only roughly 5 quarian corpses unless there is a pile in the corner i missed, and her father at the end after seeing what happened to teh crew. Atop that he had a personal message left for her on his Omni-tool

More touching than a Soldier who is supposed to be used to death even of comrades and close friends mourn over his family and give up looking for his son and still go on to whine about it.

Tali is a soldier too yes we see her with her teams here and there and they have the habit of dying as well but she accepts this and moves on. Making comments inferring she's not pleased with the outcome or even teh reason why they were sent but never getting moany over it.

Why her whining is more acceptable than carths:
Carth was not charged for treason despite potentially being able to thwart the bombardment had he gone to some other commander not Saul Karath. and trust me the Star Wars universe has plenty of such Republic Captains. Carth Has no real reason knowing Millions if not billions died to Mourn soley for his wife and his still living son he practically abandoned. He also has no reason to be suspicious and callous towards your character at all unless you are going darkside.

Tali was charged with treason then found out her father had died and threatened with exile. Idk about you but being charged with treason and being told essentially you can't be part of your home anymore would be problematic to alot of people  and is a bit easier to relate to than having your planet leveled. is it not?

well i would think the fact that you're now a specter brought about by interspecies cooperation would speak for itself but lets be honest with out talis recording you'd never have gotten past the Local System.

My beef with carth's whininess in regards to his family could be due to how into star wars i am personally. Planets being leveled like Telos is not a new concept nor is it irreversable. Sad for a time but not as bad as Alderan. Realistic he'd be mourning yes but it gets old after a while. and he was a pretty boring character in general. Tali is alot more interesting to me as is all of mass effect atm. Star wars is on the decline sadly I stopped following when the mando's stopped warring.

Thanks darth_lopez. Understandably not everyone would have a preferance to Tali, but they shouldn't be disrespecting her character. thank you for logically listing why she isn't what they claim. I feel she is an important part of the story, romantically or not, and as far as characters go a step above the others.

Yes. She's unimportant in Mass Effect one. Oh, that's right, she gives you the evidence that proves Saren's guilt, makes you a Spectre, gives you the Normandy, and basically starts of the mission. Yep, she's completely useless...

um really..she just gives you the evidence. lol council makes you a spector and aderson gives you his ship. lol

but i still love tali, shes not pointless ^^

Quarians tried to destroy all Geth after latter started to become more advanced in their thinking; Tali herself admitted on several occasions that she strongly supports the POV of most other Quarians: "We created Geth and we have the right to kill them"
