I feel like I didn't hate her in ME1, just found her totally pointless. She was the only character I didn't make frequent visits to talk to or have on my squad. However when I began visiting these forums and the rabid fanboyism just took over I actually started to hate the character. I so hoped that Bioware wouldn't appease the weirdos who demanded her as a love interest... But when Kelly Chambers said something about her being attracted to Shepard my jaw just dropped cos I knew where it was going. I just wanted to go down to engineering and say "****, gtfo". But yes, in agreement with OP, I liked that I could kill her... means no chance of reappearance in ME3.

I hate Tali as well, but I had to use her as my squadmate in ME1 because her tech abilities were sick.



Her accent is ****ing annoying, and I really don't give two ****s about the Quarians, a fact that she does not seem to realize seeing as ALL SHE TALKS ABOUT IS HOW MUCH LIFE ON THE FLOTILLA SUCKS.

I could say the same about the people that demanded a Geth party member, never mind people pointed again and again how it would not work.

Yet we have Legion ... and I am OK with it.

This. I'm an avid poster in the Tali Love thread  and Tali is, in my own personal opinion, my favourite character from both games. I don't understand why some people say "Oh, I hate Tali because she has so many fans." That's like saying "Oh, I'm not gonna breathe because so many other people do it." It holds no logic.

Sure, I disliked how she pretty much gave her entire backstory at the beginning of ME1, but it wasn't simply *her* I enjoyed, but the story and plight of her people.

That, accompanied with the fact that she's the most human character in the series, and has actually affected me on an emotional level, is why she's my favourite. And, of course the whole mask thing. I'm still not sure if I want to see her face or not.

I can certainly see why people don't like her character, and all the more power to 'em. I hate characters that other people love, like Miranda and Wrex. (Don't ask.) But I *do* love Garrus, Mordin, Joker, and Legion!

Yeah, just voicing my opinion.

I don't hate her, but I don't care for her as a character at all.

In ME1 she had nothing to her character besides "i'm a quarian you want to know about quarians cuz that's all i'll tell you"



And in ME2 she's still pretty dull.



I mean, she's not a bad character, she's not that great compared to the rest of the amazing cast,



I just can't understand the huge cult-like following she has.

No offense, but that's completely untrue and biased. It's the reason why there's so many 'noncomformists' in the world today.

Let's take rap for example. In the recent years, it's completely taken off, and more and more people started to like it. Do you see it getting any less popular? No. Anything but.

And no, it's not a fact of life. The natural human response is to feel like part of a whole, so, wouldn't more people like something that's become popular? Rap works as an example once again. Most rap music is terrible from an artistic standpoint; it's just a repetitive beat with people talking over it, and slurring words to make them 'rhyme'. Doesn't stop more and more people from liking it, though.

PS: There is some good rap. Just MOST of is it horrible.

I don't hate her, I just thought she was the least interesting member of your squad in the first game, and as such I couldn't understand all the hype about her. I also thought some of the fan devotion went well beyond creepy.

That being said I thought she was more interesting in ME2 and I loved her loyalty mission. After Legion's I thought that was the best loyalty mission in the game.

I liked her in ME1 and ME2, I dont like some of the people who are fanatics when it comes to her, but im not hating her because some people like her, like some other poster says every character has weird fans, I mean garrus is a *** turtle/raptor hybrid and people want to romance him WTF.

Well, I don't have a problem with this - her "racism" is indicative of the entire Geth/Quarian conflict, just as the three key admirals represent different key views on how to handle it.  

Basically her arc will come to a head in ME3 and might very well determine how the Geth/Quarian situation is resolved.  I'm just surprised she wasn't more hostile to Legion or EDI.

This. SO HARD. This is a complete case It's Popular, Now it Sucks. Boohoo, a lot of people like Tali. This is a legitimate reason to hate a character because I need to be cool, edgy and different from the norm. I've encountered the legion of Wrex fanboys who are utterly obsessed with him. He's one of my favourite characters in Mass Effect 1, and the amount of people obsessed with him has not changed that. Same case with Legion, who is a tad bit of an Ensemble Darkhorse judging from all the 'OMG LEGION SENTIENT GETH SO AWESOME' that I heard when he was first introduced (and that I was a part of). If your only significant reason you hate a character is because of the people who like said character, you should really get a reality check and realize nobody's forcing you to pay attention to all those fanboys and girls.

Regardless, Tali has always been my favourite character in ME1, and my favourite romance tree in ME2. And before people hating Tali accuse me of being some weird xenophile or whatever obsessed with her hips and the exoticism attached to quarians, she was this adorable girl-in-a-bubble who provided a huge shift from other relationships in the game (in terms of male Shepards) based solely around her relationship with Shepard and her personality, and that's one of the reasons I loved her so much. She wasn't sexualized, not really, no matter how many people keep raving on her hips and stuff and that was where her strength as a character came in.

And people declaring Tali racist... it's kind of justified, isn't it? The geth did drive off the quarians from their home-world, slaughtered millions of her people and forced them to live in the Flotilla, atrophying their immune systems, and the fact that every geth since encountered by Tali before Legion has been a Heretic worshiping Reapers and have taken every chance to kill her, there hasn't been a lot to disprove her conceptions about the geth. I don't like her either, but we have to live with her, because the majority wants her... But she isn't interesting, in ME1 i never took her with myself on any mission, and i haven't worked with her in ME2 either.

Just wait and see.... if you hate Tali and make an enemy of her I am going to laugh my butt off when the Reapers come in and rip you a new one cause you dont have the Quarians or the Geth on your side (or at least neither one at full strength)

She's more of a plot vehicle then a character. She existed in ME1 to give you info you needed to get the Council to declare Saren as going ''rogue''. She introduced the backstory of the geth/quarians. In ME2 she's a vehicle for the potential fate of the quarian people.



As a character there's zip, zero, and nada that stands out to me. She's pretty much a cliched techy geek with some white boy's sense of ''exotic'' thrown in to the mix.

I was too focused on the glory of urdnot wrex to spare any time for tali in me1. in me2 at least she was better than jack. I refuse to acknowledge that jack is even on my ship.
