I don't hate her, but the fans scare me.

And make me not want to hear anything about her for a while :/ I can't understand the hype about her....

Before I start, let me acknowledge something. When I say I HATE Tali, it is different then when I say, "I hate Subject Zero". When I say, "I hate subject zero", I'm almost admitting she is a good character. I acknowledge that SuZe is an interesting character, its just that her attitude doesn't fit mine.

However, when I say that I hate Tali, I mean something completely different. I think the character Tali is so freakin' pointless. I don't mind the Quarians, but Tali makes me angry. Any other Quarian squad member would have been perfect. She is just uninteresting and unimportant in Mass Effect 1, and has next to no tie with the story (other than giving you Saren's evidence). It makes me angry that she of all people was brought back to the team.

What baffles me even further is people who want an LI for this freak? Or even worse, FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?! He is a weird humanoid thing with 3 webbed toes and 3 long weird fingers. Not to mention she wears a gigantic robot mask. How can anyone claim her cute? Its kind of scary TBH.

Maybe I should be happy she was added to your squad in Mass Effect 2. Now I can kill her.

This Thread is epic

Ok, I'm not a fanatic Tali fan, but this is incorrect. Quarians are humanoid aliens.

Tali is one of my favorite characters in Mass Effect. It probably has something to do with the fact that she is the only main female character that hasn't been a dick to me. Plus bringing Tali to the citadel and having her talk with that Volus is so funny.

Only thing I don't get about Tali is why she is a team mate that can be brought into combat with Shepard. I mean her track record in combat on her own isn't that great. In ME1 she failed with knowing even the most basic information (that the Shadowbroker never meets anyone) and get lured into a trap that she wouldn't have survived without help and in ME2 the things she does on her own doesn't go much better.

Now I imagine having a quarian along could be very helpful. I just don't understand why anyone would bring a tech expert into combat unless the situation demands it instead of leaving them on the ship to work with the tech. While ME2 made me like Tali a lot more then I did in the first game I still don't think she is much of a soldier type that belongs on a battlefield like most of Shepard's other companions.

Is it possible in ME1 those who picked classes without Tech skills did find Tali useful?

I wonder at what level we're playing that we'd actually need the teammates to submit resumes before we decide
to take them along into combat? "her track record in combat on her own"?? minus points as a potential squadmate
because "she got lured into a trap that......."?? Seriously?

It's not her fault if the scriptwriters didn't flesh her background and story out to be a combat Valedictorian
but I would think that as far as my squad is concerned what matters is whether her abilities fit my playing style eh?

I wasn't a big fan of hers in ME1. Then again, it's probably just a matter of me not seeing what was right before my eyes or something... (sigh, sounds so familiar)
After all, the story there was geared to be all the rage about Liara (yeah, it didn't work out for Ashley and I
[Let alone with that other dude.. I much rather be a lesbian!] )
Back then, Tali seemed to die a lot in combat because I didn't get her to change to pistol when fighting in open space or engaging targets from a distance.

I did make use of Tali every so often in ME2, and she was quite tough against the Geth. Mostly though, it felt like I found Samara and Grunt most useful and together we got through the Reaper IFF and Final Mission.

Humm... maybe I should go for a 2nd playthrough as male this time and have her along all the way as soon as she's recruitable.
But right now the idea of scanning is so totally turning me off from that 2nd playthrough.

He obviously has some sort sadomasochistic obsession with Tali. Why else would he keep bumping threads about her?

I liked Tali okay in the first game, but the lusty legion of Talimancers has made me much less receptive to the character. And when people say she's 'cute', I just want to ask "How do you know? You can't even see her face." The stupidly huge numbers of posts in the Tali threads makes me ill. Seriously, it's a video game character, and from a graphics standpoint she's not all that. She's no Sheva Alomar, that's for sure.

Hmm, maybe when they say she is cute, they think about her voice, moves, shapes of body. There is also some theory that says if someone has beautiful voice, than rest is beautifull too.

P.S. Sheva Alomar is cute, she looks really sexy in Tribal suit. Link here http://i39.tinypic.com/2unvcps.jpg

Uh-huh. Are you male/heterosexual, female/lesbian or bisexual? If you answer 'yes' to any of those, then I think your assertion that it's about her 'personality' is suspect. No one wants to admit that they like a digital character because they have junk in their trunk, but come on, none of us is blind.

The Cult-of-Tali drives me crazy. They can't even stick to their own topic! Yeah I am sure there are some "normal" fans of her that aren't creepy stalkers, but they have likely been executed for their lack of devotion by now.

And the thing is I don't even hate Tali as a character. But the obsession around her makes me want to toss her out the airlock. In fact I was going to give a rousing speech about the priiize of driving the fanboys back and the heavy risk involved.

Most Tali fans I know don't deny they think she's hot, but there's more to what draws fans to her, and at the end of the day-

Less than that. Oh and Skull, Samaratans keep to themselves, monk-like.

Because drooling over a smurf with a squid on her head is a lot more acceptable than doing the same over a girl with chicken feet.
