"To boldly go where no man has..."
Since Liara is not an option in ME2, Tali is going to fall victim to many peoples Kirk mentality.
Plus: It is always the quiet ones.
Have you seen the Tali romance scene? She hopped on Shep...it looked like she might try to break "it" in the process.

I don't hate Tali, but I find the concept of romance with her deeply disturbing. She's freakish. She's a different species, and she looks the part.

But the same goes for Garrus and Thane.

ME2 ruined Tali for me. She magically forgot all the character development I jammed down her throat, and the ENTIRE QUARIAN RACE has nothing better to do with their time than to gush about how Tali is so perfect at everything all the time forever, that's she's basically Quarian Jesus. If she wasn't actually worthless in combat, I'd call Mary Sue.

In ME2, Tali is actually really well written, and her loyalty mission is my favorite one.

However, in ME1, she sucked hard time. I tried to talk to her in the 1st game and immediately I regreted. She unloads her entire life story if Shepard so much as says hello. Plus she is useless as a teammate and extremely prejudicial when it comes to the Geth. I was hoping that there was an option to leave her on Virmire.

I also don't like the romance. It should have been something like garrus where its more or less platonic and emotional. Doing nasty with an alien of complete biological incompatibility is just stupid.

Prejudiced when it comes to the Geth? Lolwut? Official protocol for just about everyone in the ME universe regarding the Geth is to shoot them before they shoot you, and stay the hell out of their space.

fair enough. But i still think it's different for say Shepard, who shoot Geth because Geth shoot him/her first. The Tali's people was responsible for the whole thing 1st by creating the Geth and second by turning on them.

Which she bothers to explain, if you bothered to pay attention to the game you were playing. The "turning on them" was a reaction out of panic, also they mention several times that the Qurian didn't realize how advanced the Geth really were in their thought processes. It was responded with the wholesale slaughter of most of the Quarian population, taking over all of their planets, and forcing them into a life of exile and Tali worship. Not to mention the current generation of Quarian were undoubtedly brought up on anti-Geth teachings and rhetoric.

Tali is kinda cute, I like her. Her voice actor really does the character justice. There's definitely a lot of development from ME1, where she's basically just there for exposition, to ME2, where she actually has a personality. Out of all the female LI's, Tali was the most well-developed. With Jack, there's this weird psychiatrist dynamic that I find very annoying and unnattractive. With Miranda, well, it's kinda hard to like someone who complains about being perfect all the time. With Tali, there's a bit of endearing shyness, and the sense that she really trusts Shepard so much that she'll compromise her safety like that. Really, a lot more likable than the other two. I don't think she's my favourite character (Legion FTW!) but I certainly found her interesting and likable.

The Tali fans, however... *shudder*

I know, but I guess my problem is that I thought the way she justified the anti-geth thinking was weak.  it just bothers me that the after the Quarian had all those time to reflect on this event, they still comes up with the conclusion that they did what they had to do. The geth was perfectly within their right to want to exist, only Admiral Qwib or whatever had any regrets, everyone else views geth as evil, so goes so far as to wanting to destroy the geth at any cost. Any way that's just I was feel after playing the first game, I am sure other people don't agree with me.

Tali fits the 'earnest little sister' role to me. She sounds young, is attractive in a pretty non-descriptive way (see: body shape, no way of seeing face), is generally cheerful, is a bit naive, she inspires a sort of feeling of protectiveness in around one fourth of those who play, and she's loyal to the main character, faults and all. About the only thing that's stand-out about her is that she actually holds strong opinions that may be unpopular (see: the geth)... usually, characters in her archetype don't hold a really immutable opinion about anything beyond 'Burning puppies alive is mean!'

Fitting in to an archetype isn't a bad thing. I mean, seriously, we could go in to a long Carth/Sky/Anomen/Kaidan/Alistair/Jaocb/Anders figuration here or bounce Aribeth and Bastila off of each other until they both choke just like we can compare Tali to Imoen to Mission, la de da. Each of them are different, though, just sharing some qualities. Those qualities may be enough to shake it for you, though- for instance, while I can take the leading males, even Anomen and Carth (...if reluctantly), and I don't mind Tali, I could not stand most of Bioware's leading ladies.

...Tali is about as core to the ME1 plot as Garrus and Wrex: all three characters I felt were undeveloped when compared to Ash, Kaidan, or even Liara (call Ash a ****, Kaidan boring, and Liara creepy, at least you were able to get more of who they were rather then what they were (although Liara did double as a codex at times)). I disliked Wrex the most, personally: as far as Proud Warrior Race Guy's, I take Ordo and Zaeed and Sten and even Garrus before him. He wasn't horrible, though. Just not to my tastes.

Eh, liked Tali in ME1, not a perfect char, but interesting. In ME2 she seemed to be the closest LI to what an actual relationship is like (I mean by the fact that she is kind of shy and not throwing risque lines at you), and she had the best loyalty mission. Definitely a favorite, although I enjoyed all of the ME2 cast.

She's a little minx! What's not to like? She suits my play style, and fits in well. She's essentially my thief in ME1, can unlock anything, but I'll admit, her class was gimped in ME2.

Now stop bothering me, I'm designing a clean room for Normandy so that Tali can slip into something more comfortable .......

Okay, I get where you're coming from a little more about it. I would say before ME1, we didn't really have any knowledge that the geth didn't want to wipe us out, so it was more justified then. After ME2 Tali is pretty well painted as a fanatic I'll give you that. Just... ugh. The writing on her was so contrived and terrible. I still feel like the Quarian talking to the Turian on Illium was one frustrated writer venting about the horrendously written Tali bull**** they had to put into ME2 to keep her shippers (scum of the earth, if you ask me) from committing mass ritual suicide.
