My feelings exactly, I've actually come to dislike Tali for all the rabid fanboyism devoted to her.

Idd im starting to feel the same way, im not against the option of romance but the arguments are realy disturbing some times, i love the Hips one, amazing...

I'm on my final playthrough of ME and I just finally put her in my party for the first time. She's actually very capable and I think the storyline is enriched with her being in it. As people said before, she pushed the game off to a start, but she also provides good backstory on her race. Plus, on missions she talks.  .

Tali seemed interesting at first, but after a certain point in ME1 all of her character development hit a wall. I felt like Bioware had planned a sidequest and more dialogue for her, but forget her in the Normandy's Engine room. She just seemed underdeveloped. So did Kaiden, for that matter.



So far, the ME2 companions seem much more interesting than those in ME1. I hope Tali has a chance to shine this time around.



I do think all the Tali attraction is weird, although it might just be due to the fact that every female in ME1 besides Tali had the exact same body model, so Tali's uniqueness stands out. I don't think a lot of people really fetishize chicken feet... do they?

I don't hate Tali. I don't love her either. She has probably the coolest back story. If she is a love interest, I hope the artists left her face as ugly as it was in ME1. If all the sudden she looks kinda hot behind the mask, I know that the artists sold out to the fans.. Tali is a quarian, and they are ugly. She has a great personality and I may romance her if given the chance based on that alone. But if they beautified her for ME2, I'm gonna pass and let SZ get what she wants.. LOL

My ME Renegade Shep hating her? Hell yeah!



I really hope that we don't have to recruit everyone. To me I cannot see any reason why she would be on my Renegade Shep's shopping list unless there is about 5 people with guns held to my Shep's head saying "You will recruit her or we will kill you.".



The icing on the cake is how she reacted when I refused to give her the data, my Renegade Shep has an issue as it is with alien races, trust is a 2 way street and my Shep wouldn't trust Tali further than she could slap her.



Another Quarian, maaaaybe, although Renegade Shep's opinion of them isn't too great thanks to Tali. Same can be said with Mordin, if he had been one of the Salarian's from Virimire, there is no way in hell he would be on my Renegade Shep's team, it is because of those people that she lost one of her valued crew members, but Mordin might have a chance as he isn't one of those even if he is most likely going to annoy her when she first meets him with his fast talking ways. She'll get him for his tech know how and just leave him on the ship. I just can't see how my Renegade Shep could just leave Tali on the ship again seeing as that is what she did first time doing nothing and then demanding I give her some stuff for her pilgrimage then getting snarky when Shep refused to give it her and stating she getting off the ship when mission over. If there had been an option to offload her beforehand after that comment, Tali would've been long gone before the end.

I wouldn't say I 'hate' any of the characters, but of the squadmates I find Tali and Ashley to be the least interesting. And yes I do find Tali irritating.

If she's a love interest, they will cater to the fanboys. So yes, an Avatar alien type is a pretty good guess.

I feel as if Tali didn't really do much as a character. I mean, of course she was important to the storyline, Shep would have never become a Spectre if it wasn't for her. However, after you quizzed her on her people, she didn't really do much afterwards.



That said, Tali's character looks far more interesting in Mass Effect 2 than she was in the first one. Granted, I still probably won't take her on missions, but I also probably won't think of talking to her as something I "have" to do and instead actually be interested in what she says.

I thought she was just a really dull character. I tolerated her on my first playthrough but second time around I was like "oh god please let there be an option to not take her with me". And now they're forcing me to take her on my mission AGAIN and have some sort of happy reunion! If there's an option... she is gonna die.

I just think she's boring. I mean, all she does it talk about her freaking pilgrimage and her people's plight.

Don't really understand what you expect a character to do if you leave them on the ship all the time, I thought she was one of the better characters, her race is unique in the mass effect world and interesting how they stay alive.  Her excitement about her own culture and wanting to share it reminds me of several people I know who love teaching others about where they come from.  She is young and enthusiastic, which to older cynical people is always annoying. 

The bit were she took over as best character for me was where she said She was scared but ready to fight with fire for you. 

Plus she was the only character which AI hack so was always on my assualt squad.

I didn't like her but I don't hate her. She was just...there...taking up space.

She helps you complete the codex and get the achievement though...

I have no problem with Garrus. His character is vastly superior. He is filled with that "If I do my job, it shouldn't matter how I do it" kind of mentality that I love. He is an embodiment of what all law enforcement should be. 

Garrus is a simpleton.  Mind-numbingly boring and stupid.  My continuing hatred for all Turians stems more from Garrus than Saren   I mean, shoot down a spaceship, one apparently easily tracked, filled with "hostage"/employees of a doctor?  While said spaceship is near enough the Citadel to risk damage?  Perhaps the embodiment of the Keystone Cops

Seriously, I understand exactly how you feel about Tali because I feel the same about Garrus.  Even in combat I found him woefully inadequate.  Tali, on the other hand, is easily the most competent squad member in my opinion.  Very strong.

something. When I say I HATE Tali, it is different then when I say, "I
hate Subject Zero". When I say, "I hate subject zero", I'm almost
admitting she is a good character. I acknowledge that SuZe is an
interesting character, its just that her attitude doesn't fit mine.

However,
when I say that I hate Tali, I mean something completely different. I
think the character Tali is so freakin' pointless. I don't mind the
Quarians, but Tali makes me angry. Any other Quarian squad member would
have been perfect. She is just uninteresting and unimportant in Mass
Effect 1, and has next to no tie with the story (other than giving you
Saren's evidence). It makes me angry that she of all people was brought
back to the team. 

What baffles me even further is people who
want an LI for this freak? Or even worse, FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?! He is a
weird humanoid thing with 3 webbed toes and 3 long weird fingers. Not
to mention she wears a gigantic robot mask. How can anyone claim her
cute? Its kind of scary TBH.

Maybe I should be happy she was added to your squad in Mass Effect 2. Now I can kill her. 

lol, you say she has no tie to the story? Saren was working with the geth, the synthetics responsible for banishing the quarians from their homeworld, so obviously Tali had her own personal reasons for wanting Saren to be taken down.

As for Garrus' reasons, he said that Saren was a disgrace to his people, so as a fellow turian, he wanted Saren to pay for his crimes. He also wanted to get away from C-Sec so he could do things without any rules or regulations getting in his way.

Wrex, when you first meet him, all he wanted was Fist dead. After that, he doesn't really have any personal reason for going after Saren other than the fact that he knew Saren was bad news.
